In response to the XBox 360 failures, which response from Microsoft do you think will become public first?

1. Discreet firings of MS/XBox employees (most notably, QA and Higher-ups).
2. Open apology and free repairs.
3. Nothing (Continuation of "Don't look at failure rates, look at repair and response").
4. Some combination of 1 & 2.
5. Coverup of the assassination of Peter Moore.

Doing anything else would be marketing/financial suicide...though MS has the money to blow. Now, what they SHOULD do is replace any console that fails with the new model (with the 65nm CPU/GPU...once they come out)....

Agreed.

Don't expect anything from the company that still thinks internet explorer renders properly.

Probably neither, but I'd say Microsoft would rather talk about firing employees rather than admit their meal ticket for the next few years is failing at a ridiculous rate.

Nothing.

I like how hardware failure can directly be tied to a group of employees. Are they going to fire all of the engineers, designers, and line workers who help package the machine? I don't think so.

Microsoft will do nothing about this. Why would they? The failure rate is the same or slightly higher than any other electronic equipment.

It used to be funny when people said that. Now it's just kind of sad and depressing.

Technically Nothing is the correct answer. The instant you made this poll, Microsoft's response was still nothing. :)

This is quite sad...the fact that you actually believe this...

Here's the problem, you could very well be right, and that the number of customers experiencing problems is within the same %age as Sony and/or Nintendo have experienced. But when people are going through 2, 3, 4+ consoles...there is obviously an issue that needs to be fixed.

I think I've seen less than 5 reports of PS3s breaking, a handful of reports about the Wii, but nothing out of the ordinary. Then 100s of reports about the 360--safe to say it has surpassed the PS2 in terms of epic failure rates. not that my one little perspective means much.

come to think of it, Epic Fail Guy kinda looks like Peter Moore-- :-k

Lol, nice. The funny thing was that last year at E3, PS3's were reportedly freezing like crazy and everyone was jumping on the 'bash Sony bandwagon'. But since the PS3's launch, i have heard maybe a handul of reports that their PS3 had problems...

Funny thing, i pretty much was a PS fanboy prior to this year. Then i threw away $400+ on the 360...i like it, but highly disappointed with the failing stories.

With the Wii everyone should "throw in" the amount of TV's, laptops, and whatever else was broken by the wiimote.

Back to the thread, I don't think microsoft will do anything. When the new chips come out they will just say "Look, this is made better".

Now are you disappointed with the failing stories or has yours actually broken? Because I've had mine since March of 2006 and it's never so much as hiccuped. On the other hand, I'm on my second PS2 and that just recently started making an odd clicking sound during some games.

My PS2 has been going strong for a while now. I bought a 2006 model 360 Premium and the DVD drive stopped working 2 weeks later. Got a 2005 model when i wxchanged it (i was pissed) and now, roughly a month and a half later it is starting to shut off in the middle of games. I turned it on a few days ago and could year the start-up sound(s), i could switch blades (hear the sounds) but couldn't see anything. Unplugged the A/V cable, put it back in, still only sound. Turned the TV off, back on, still only sound. Restarted the console...and finally got the picture back. Its just insane that i will be going onto my 3rd console here within a month (i hope :|)

yeah, it's going to be hit or miss for every system. if someone had 10 PS2's break, and one 360 that is actually improving in performance daily it doesn't really mean anything. I would love to go on a tirade about how I had to exchange a ton of used DRE PS2s when I decided to get back into gaming, though

regardless, both systems were manufactured too cheaply.

My first 360 lasted around 9 months before going kaput. It was replaced quickly, however.

My Wii is showing signs of "tear" in the screen (I don't know what the technical term is) - so now I need to get that setup for replacement. Nintendo takes a bit longer.

The PS3 is, so far, fine. Knock on wood.

As for the poll, only a foolish optimist would expect MS to do anything.
