The game is really old, like around 1997. It has Ragnarok Online style's graphic and character. I'd only played the demo of it. The story is about a boy who go save a princess or some girl. You get a sword and you slice monster. The only monster I remember is crocodilia.
You can just name any game that has Ragnarok Online style's graphic.

Did the boy have red hair? Maybe something in the Ys series?

Wait, no it doesn't look like Ragnarok Online. It's in cartoons, 2D, and there's slime monster like in the dragon quest.

Like old school RPG back in SNES. Final Fantasy, Dragon quests, etc. but is an action RPG, no random battle, you just walk around and find monsters to kill.

Windows 98 LOL...I had the PC demo discs which I bought, it has a lot of demo on it. But later I gave the demo discs to my friend, and will never find it again, since that's many years ago.
I saw Ys Origin is closed, but this game is from 2006 and has much prettier graphic, so it's not. Can't find screenshots for some of the other Ys games.
BTW the game is in English.

Brave Soul is also closed too, but the game is from 2003, and 18+ LOL..

Okay, it's not Ys. Same perspective, but the graphic is not the same. And I didn't remember there's status bars on the bottom.
I don't know if it's an original games or sequel. No voice, it's text based.
Or does anyone know what are the demo discs that were released back in like 1996-1998?

PC Gamer demo discs? I have a crapload of them. Let me run through them and see if I can help you out. Right off I can not think what game it could be.

Nope it's not Septerra Core. I bought the demo discs from the Virgin megastore. It's not from any magazine, but if you happen to find it, then it will be greatly appreciate.

Was it trying to be really funny but in reality it wasn't at all? The cover featured some girl with red hair that was all chained up?

Um not sure about the red hair, or the cover. I'd only played the demo.
