View Full Version : Good co-op game for 360?

We're about to finish Gears of War...
Damn, that game needs an automap. Talk about curse of wandering around (in maddening 50"x5" split screen no less) until you hit a cut scene. Slapping a saracastic hi-five, "Wow...... we did it. I guess" /end rant
Anyway, someone mentioned something in passing about Marvel Alliance? We'd like it to be something for the 360, since he just got it.

yep Marvel Alliance and Crackdown are two good co op ones. Me and a buddy have a ridiculous amount of fun with crackdown to be honest.

I had tons of fun playing The Outfit with a friend. The save system is weird though so make sure you read about it before you start.

MUA is a good choice, finished co-oping through it with a friend a couple of weeks ago.
Rainbow 6 Vegas has some nice co-op modes in it, co-oping through that at the mo.

All backwards compatible:
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II
Lego Star Wars
Doom 3
Halo 2
Stubbs the Zombie
Also, I agree with the Crackdown suggestion. Super-fun in co-op. Having a blast right now looking for all the orbs with a buddy.

If you're playing over Live. Crackdown, and Rainbow Six Vegas, Marvel Ultimate Alliance
If you're playing split screen. Lego Star Wars II (2nd player won't get achievements), Perfect Dark Zero, GRAW, GRAW2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance

Crackdown & MUA sound pretty cool.. I think that's what we're leaning toward. He's got a years worth of free coupons at Hollywood - keep em comin if we're missing anything.

the Halo 1&2 co-op campaigns?
otherwise I think you're covered with good suggestions. After that I'd say some XBLA games like Turtles or Aegis Wing (hello FREE) are fun multiplayer.

Honestly, I thought Kameo sucked ass in co-op. You are forced to finish the levels on your own first, then you can replay them with a buddy. WTF is that all about!?

I concur. That just don't make no damn sense! Just like with Fable: TLC, where you have to play all that original shit just to get to the extra content.

I played 5 levels in co-op and it was putting me to sleep. I didn't find anything spectacular about it. Maybe 5 levels wasn't good enough but I gave up after that.

I hate Crackdown, but Co-Op almost makes it worthwhile.
Rainbow Six Vegas is fun, but unfortunately they don't let you play through the great story mode on co-op... so it's lame.

Of course, on co-op you need to play on normal/hard and you need to put in enough levels where you start getting some of crazy weapons/start going up against some of the giant monsters.

Vegas does let you play through the story mode in co-op over live. Up to 4 players at the same time. Best Co-Op to date, too bad that they couldn't throw in split screen.
EDIT: I remember now...it has split screen but only one user can be signed on, so 2nd player cannot get achievements for this.

You should really give it more of a chance, the shit really starts to hit the fan around level 11 or so. The crazy weapons and enemies start flowing like wine. :D

Just to throw the wrench in here, isn't Crackdown co-op only over Live? The OP mentions split-screen, so this wouldn't be a good co-op game if you're on the same system as it doesn't exist. Am I correct?

Correct, we do not have X-BOX live... I don't think he's interested in getting it either. We like to just sit back and drink beers and socialize, like how the ancient neo-lithic peoples did.

it bothers me that games now overlook that aspect of multiplayer gaming.
it sucks that i have to have 2 copies of most games to play in the same room with a friend.

I was like why would you get crackdown(only online multiplayer) when you played through gears on split screen....
Marvel UA is the game i can recommend, although it might be more fun with 2 more people.

I'll have to put in a vote for EDF also. I put it on on my tradelist after playing the first few levels, but I'm in the mid-20's levels now (already crazy intense....can't even imagine the later levels) and have quickly taken it off my tradelist. My Daughter and I are having a ton of fun playing Co-op....
I'd also say Lego Star Wars II. It may be a little kiddie, but that's another game my daughter and I have a blast playing together.

MUA is fun with 3 or 4 people, but it does get boring after you have beaten the game. Also if you have a orginial xbox you can play through the xmen legends games. They are, in my opinion, better then MUA.

Some great fun together but not co-op games:

Gears of War is pretty fun.
Earth Defense Force 2017 is REALLY fun with someone else.
Kameo is pretty fun, and like halfbent said.. it's a cheap game too. (it's a great single player experience, TOO!)
Eternal Sonata is both a GREAT game..and fun with another player!
And there's a mess of arcade games too! Double Dragon, TMNT 1989, Aegis Wing, Contra, Assult Heroes, Golden Axe, Smash TV (HARD GAME, BTW!!), Gauntlet AND Streets of Rage 2!

Hi all!
So my boyfriend and I have been playing WAAAAY too much Lego Star Wars II because it's a fun co-op game that we can play together. I've tried looking for other co-op games, but it's really hard to tell from the packaging or reviews. Usually multiplayer ends up referring to online--which is not what I am looking for. I'm looking for games that we can play together sitting in the same room.
I also would like games in which we both are basically playing on equal footing, not where the second person is just a "helper" as is the case in Zack and Wiki or Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii.
I was looking at Call of Duty 4, and then realized it didn't have co-op.
Bottom line, does anyone have any suggestions? I'm mainly looking for 360 (or Wii) games.
Thanks much!!

Beatuful Katamari has a couple of Co-op levels.
Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia - you can play the whole adventure mode in local co-op
Overlord has a co-op mode, although i'm not sure if it's local or online. Sorry I haven't played the 360 version.
