I just bought a 300GB 7200RPM ATA/100 Maxtor Hard Drive for $49.99 AR at Office Depot, and I'm eager to install it, but I would like to know how much power this thing is going to eat up, in addition to my other two hard drives.

In short, I need to first determine how much power (W) my PC has, then determine if it can run all three drives (it currently runs two 5400RPM drives (60GB & 80GB)), otherwise I can just load up the 300GB, but I'd like to run all 3 if possible.

So, any thoughts?

Well, I installed the new drive as a Primary or Secondary Master, and it isn't recognized in either case, need help on this one.

i had this SAME problem a long time ago and not many people could help unless I reinstalled XP..

depending on your motherboard, the trick is NOT to enable SATA support on boot. Then install the driver floopy/cd that came with it inside of windows.

if SATA is enabled on boot... it might not pick up or if you have dual boot like me (XP/XP pro), Pro might get fussy with it and cause a blue screen of death on start up.

I actually got mine to begin installing now (currently at 15%), funny thing was, instead of booting the CD on startup, I needed to select to install from the floppy drive. Why is that funny? I don't have a floppy drive. Yeah, it's installing anyway.
