My games aren't loading right away. I keep having to eject and reload them twice before the game loads up. If I put in a BC game, it hangs at the Xbox splash screen.
is my 360 going to give me the red eye pretty soon?

Probably. My second one would stick at the white 360 loading screen when turning on and would lock up, then I got the 3 lights. Hope you have a warranty.

damn, I was hoping it would make it until the 65nm chip would come out. Got a BB warranty-- will they let me swap out HDDs? i don't want to buy a freaking memory card...

You have the same thing Wombat had. Next thing you know your drive won't even open. If you bring it up to the service counter and explain the situation I can't see them objecting to you opening the new system right there at the counter and swapping the hard drives. Keep in mind though that your live arcade games are tied to the console and not the hard drive so from now on you will have to be logged in to live to play any arcade games other than in demo mode.

Sorry to threadjack, but I figured I might as well ask this here: when I got my refurb 360 back from MS, it logged into Live as soon as I turned it on. Now it takes almost 30 seconds. Is this a bad sign? My first 'box did the same thing right before it died. I'm also starting to get DRE's on GoW and GHII, and THP8 seems to be experiencing more slowdown the more I play it. And when I had it in a vertical position, it would lightly scratch my games. I put it horizontal a couple day back, and I really hope it remedies the problem. Damn, this post ran a little long, but I'm pretty fucking frustrated with MS. I bought almost all of my games new, and they all have scratches from the fucking disc drive. What a piece of fucking shit.
EDIT: Also, if my 'box does scratch a game to death, is there any way I can get a replacement?

I was able to talk them into it by complaining about having DLC stored on there, and credit card information and stuff. It did take a while, though. I tried to be as nice as I could about it, the customer rep was really sweet but, you know, I wanted to keep my hard drive. Tough stuff.
They also made me dig through a huge pile of Xbox 360s to find a box that didn't have Madden or NFS:MW included.

Yes. A different friend of mine had a disk drive issue with a BB warranty and it was by far the smoothest customer service experience I've ever had at Best Buy when I went with him.
You should know that if you have Live and have downloaded pretty much anything you will not be able to access that content unless you are connected to Live. After downloading content to one box at a friends house (my apartment building is out of DSL area) my 360 broke and now I can't access my Shivering Isles saves.

if your console is still within the ms warranty you wont use your prp.
i suggest taking in the console minus the hdd and the power supply and cable.
dont bother with anything else. ive done the exchange at bb 3 times. some reps are bigger dumbasses than others but overall its a decent experience.
if they get stupid with you just be firm, tell them your credit card is linked to that hdd. that should end the problem.

what's this about the MS warranty not using my PRP? They won't count it as a used warranty when I go to exchange? Isn't the warranty tied to the specific console? sorry for the barrage of questions.
WI does have a law that 3rd party warranties must begin AFTER the manufacturer
warranty ends :) but it's an out of state warranty (got it on ebay)
