New to Xbox 360, online gaming region question

hey guys...

i just got my xbox 360 and am having a blast with the shadowrun demo (and even kameo! ;] ) and will get my UK Gears of War soon.

I'm in Germany and therefore have a german xbox 360. When I play online, will it be worldwide or is it constricted regionally? If it depends on the games,
what about GOW and RB6 Vegas?

I have never run into anyone on live who did not speak fluent english, so I would have to assume that the regions are split up.

I also see some references to different regions on the Xbox Live page but I don't seem to be able to find a list of what the regions are.

The system tries to connect you to as many people that are local to you. For better game play. Live is worldwide though. I've played with the French, English, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, and someone speaking what sounded Asian that I couldn't understand.

When I played the Lost Planet demo online I remember seeing flags from different countries next to each player. Alot were from Japan (I think)

I believe it's worldwide.

I play with UK people all of the time, ran into an all French room in Uno and play with Japanese people in Catan.
