View Full Version : Is this possible? Snes related
Well after three AC adaptors, my snes still won't power on. Is it possible for the plug inside to just stop working? It's not just one Snes either, but a mini snes. Is it possible for the mini snes to fry ac adaptors? My big one was working just fine until I got this little beast.
i have to bnd my ac adapter cord in order to get my snes to work.

With as many switches, circuits, and little demons as there are living in a SNES or any other console, anything is possible. Even those new Super Nintendos are still 10 years old, if I'm not mistaken.

You could buy some kind of digital voltmeter to see if the current is making it into the SNES or not. That's how I found out why Genesis of mine wasn't getting any juice. Of course, you might be further ahead just to put that money towards a new SNES.

Does anyone know any actual stores that actually carry an SNES power adapter or know of any other devices that use a similar power supply?
I just picked up an SNES, but turns out it didn't come with an ac adapter and now I can't tell if it works or not. I can't buy online. Thanks ahead.
I'm thinking about maybe Radioshack, but last time I talked to a store employee awhile back, he said the Radioshack version of the SNES 10v power supply was discontinued. :(
Edit: Okay I have a on of those universal power adapters, looking on Radioshack's website there are adapter tips that are categorized by letters. Does anyone know what letter is the connector tip that goes to the SNES?

RadioShack won't have it. You need 10v and the closest we have is 10.2v. If you want to try it with the 10.2v adapter then I'd suggest going with either tip B or N as those are the most common.

Thanks, I'll try tip B or N. The SNES tip doesn't seem very common to me since I wasn't able to find something around the house that would fit it. All my available tips were too small on my universal adapter, which was fine for my NES and Sega Genesis model 1. Hopefully, the tips B and N mentioned are bigger than the tips used for the NES, Sega Genesis, and Sega Game Gear!
My thinking was finding something that used a similiar power supply like maybe an old telephone or race car power adapter that I could easily find at a thriftstore.
