As many of you know, I've been "living" in Indonesia for the past six months, during which I was without my 360. Well after all this time I was finally able to bring my beloved 360 to Indonesia. Thanks to a short sighted Microsoft, I was forced to purchase an power inverter so I could convert 220v electricity to the 110v required by the 360. Of course, I'd already done my research in advance and knew exactly which inverter to buy.

So today, the wifey and I made our way over to the local Ace hardware (yes, they have Ace here) to buy the inverter. Since Indonesian retail outlets do not give refunds under any circumstances, I opted to err on the side of caution and bring my 360 with me to be ABSOLUTELY certain the 360 would work. We plugged in the inverter and the 360 and all was well with the world. Until I got the inverter home that is...

I'd already prepared the area where the inverted would be situated. Getting setup was simply a matter of pulling the inverter out of the box and plugging it in. And that's when it happened.

Pop! Poof...

Suddenly, all of the electrical outlets and a number of light fixtures stopped working. There was also a nice electrical burning smell emanating from the inverter. We called the apartment electrician over to flip our circuit back on while I replaced the blown fuse inside the inverter. Afterwards, I tried plugging in the inverter again.

Pop!

Circuit breaker popped again. :bomb:

What The Fuck... I feel so defeated right now...

Might be a stupid question but are you sure you need one? Only reason I ask is because I was told I needed some sort of power converter for my laptop when I went to Australia. I used it and 5 minutes or so later the thing started smoking. I took it off and just plugged it in to the wall normally and it worked fine.

Probably a completely different situation but thought I would share.

I am 100% certain that I need a power inverter. Launch US 360 PSU's weren't made to support the typical 100v-240v range that most high dollar electronics support. Guess they figured they'd save manufacturing costs that way. Fuckers...

This thread is depressing, hopefully you'll find a solution soon.

Maybe your apt/building has a shit electrical system that cant handle the megawatts of juice the 360 needs, inverter or no?

I used to live in a real old buidling, and if I ever tried to vacuum, or use the toaster over while the windowunit air conditioner was on... *pop* Everything would blow out and I'd have to flip the circuit breaker.

Anyway, something to consider and good luck!

Ask the electrician for help connecting your 360 properly.

I may have lost the battle but I won the war bitches!!!!!

So, after another frustrating day of defeat (one of the two routers I bought in the US didn't survive the trip back here) the wifey and I returned the bogus power inverter to Ace. As I mentioned before, stores in Indonesia don't do refunds so we were hoping to exchange the power inverter for another one. As expected, the power inverter I purchased was the last of its model type so I had to try something different.

After testing a few different models, I opted for a power inverter that was a bit less powerful than the first. The 360 powered right up when we tested it and I was hoping that the power draw on this particular model wouldn't flip the circuit breaker in my apartment.

I fired up the inverter as soon as I got back home and everything worked perfectly. No circuit breaker pop. No fuse poof. Nothing but 360 goodness. I even have access to all of the US Live marketplace content that MS is blocking! Life is good right now.

All I need to do now is get the wife away from Hexic so I can play!

Glad to see that (1) you're getting your game on no matter where in the world you go, and (2) you're 360 didn't go up in a puff of smoke like the inverter. :joystick:
