Have they killed the ability to get tickets completely using firefox or is it only with the greasemonkey script running?
I just tried three different games using Firefox and didn't get any points at all.

It sucks that there aren't enough points to get the 360 on there, and that there haven't been any new puzzles added all week.
They've been adding puzzles monthly, fyi.
And you can't get Office or 360 atm, you can only get their Home Premium Vista / Zune if you do the lame games.

I guess I'll order the Laptop tote or FSX and Men's Health and say screw it. Guess MS really didn't want me to have Vista, because I'm sure as hell not buying it now.

Use a proxy that can change the user agent from Mac/Safari to Windows/IE. pr0xy.team-duck.com/2 does this, but it doesn't work right now.

Tried that, but unfortunately, a page served to an IE machine is going to check to see if the ActiveX Flash extension is installed.

'Course, I suppose you could hit up userscripts and see if anyone posted a Greasemonkey script that converts the code, since it ultimately launches the same swf anyway....

I'm quite glad people wisened up to the scheme. Investors would have to be retarded to think that people were actually using the results coming up in the searches. The ones from hints, understandable, but this thing was submitting a search for each and every thing entered. So be prepared for the promo to be shut down altogether honestly, since the jig is up.

It would seem so, but I used it, and when I tried to load Chicktionary, it says my version of Flash Player is out of date. But Chicktionary works fine when my user agent is set as Firefox.

Right, because practically every site uses a detection script to make sure Flash is installed, so that the user can be directed to Macromedia to install the proper version for their browser if it isn't. Since your browser is reporting itself as IE, it checks to see if the Flash ActiveX extension is available to the supposed IE browser. Since FireFox doesn't use ActiveX (I don't even think the Mozilla ActiveX plugin really even works), the test fails, and you're directed to install the ActiveX plugin.

he had multiple accounts...which is not cheating...no where in the TOS does it state that you cannot have multiple accounts .

I wish they would edit the TOS to not allow multiple accounts...

And, I really hope they still do send Vista Ultimates to everyone who ordered them, not Vista Home Premium (though I don't think they will send Home Premium)

I suppose these changes will stop the cheaters, but it sucks for all these people who don't cheat.

Maybe if they add more points I can get a Zune.

Yeah tell me about it... I spent a few weeks playing on and off to get vista to dual boot my mac, and vista got removed when I had 5500 points.. now vista home premium is 20k points and I can't even play because there is no IE for mac and I have yet to find a workaround. I don't know what is worse, the greedy people who had to take advantage and abuse the system, or microsoft for their half-arsed attempt at "fixing" the problem.

Just so you guys know, there is a way to circumvent the point caps on chicktionary and crosswire without using anything like bots or macros. I don't know if this is some kind of hack or not, so i am perfectly fine if it has to be deleted. This can only be done before you hit the cap, not after. Lets say, you are playing crosswire, for example. Play up until you have 980 points. At that time, play one game halfway and quit out before you finish so it brings your total crosswire points to somewhere around 990. Now, play a new game and finish it all the way so you get 20 points. Your total is now 1010, over the cap. From this point on, you can play until you run out of puzzles, at 4280 i believe. Once again, if this is some form of illegal cheating, please delete it from the thread. I have no intention of bringing anything illegal onto the forums

EDIT: Even though I was able to pass the cap on crosswire, i ran out of puzzles at 1960

Wow I'm pretty glad I ordered my Vista and zune a week ago with these new changes. Now I don't have to worry about going back there heh. Hopefully both items come, that would be marvelous. I'm more worried about the vista but I want the zune more so we'll see.

Honestly, I wouldn't be suprised to see them end the points system altogether. Microsoft probably allocated X number of dollars toward prizes, and now it'll just become part of their regular games. In which case I'll just go back to other online crosswords, that don't require logins to track what you're doing. OOH! And maybe some word searches WITH the word list, as I really enjoy them.

They just passed a bill for it not too long ago, not sure if its in effect yet though. Not sure if its $7.25 or $7.50 but sometime soon its supposed to take effect, unless its already in effect and your getting screwed.

I don't know where you live, but as of July 1, 2007, the new minimum wage in Illinois is 7.50$.

This is gay. I never use IE so when I was told it would work without it, it forced me to start using IE again. Then yesterday afternoon, I start getting Virus alerts. I kind of fixed it and then this mourning, even WORSE viruses and worms try attacking my computer. I remove it, reboot, and the SAME crap pops up again. I read the file that is being infected and find out its from IE.

Piece of **** M$ and their crappy browsers!! I'm sitting here trying to fix all this crap, wasting my damn time.
At least you have virus protection. I'm still to lazy to download it. I never had to worry about it when I had Firefox, but NOOOOOOO, I have to IE. Microsoft should just buy a license from Firefox to make it the official browser of Windows, instead of IE.

OK, I found out you can still player the games. Just go to:

http://club.live.com/GamePlay.aspx?page=xxxxxxx&mode=play

And replace the x's with the game name. And I found out that the IE tab thing DOES work, HOWEVER, LM doesn't work with it yet. So, either play legit, or use Parker's bot. Hopefully the creator of LM can fix this.

But you won't recieve any points for doing it this way because you have to be logged into the club.live.com site in order for it to recognize that you are earning points. it will tell you 'points earned' at the end of each puzzle, but then it will prompt you to log in, in which it then takes you back to the 'under maintainence' page.

and regardless, there is no reason to play these games until people start getting high end prizes that they ordered after 6/24ish anyway (around when they first pulled vista) MS probably took the site down to do the math and see if it is worth the cost to ship anything, or just say "everyone cheated, all prizes from 6/22-current that have not shipped will not be shipped. Feel free to start over.

But, when I signed up, I didn't agree to THOSE ToS, I agreed to the OLD ones. So I don't have to pay attention to the new ones. And, I lost 11,525 tickets. :(

Yep, I haven't lost any tickets here. Still can't play any new cross wires or chicktionarys though, I've maxed everything but Dingbats, Red Carpet and Elvis and I hate playing those.

As for multiple accounts per address, both my daughters are playing as well as me and they have their own accounts so hopefully that is still possible.

My orders have always been grayed out (since 6-23 when i first ordered vista) and i've never cheated. Now i've never gotten any confirmation emails...that may have something to do with it.

yeah, mine too, but what worries me is that I have 2 accounts. both ordered 2 vistas each on, both legit. My 1st account had the extra 34 tickets I had it in or whatever taken away, while the 2nd account that had an extra 61 tickets in it was left untouched.

I have a knot in my shoulder from playing for those 24k in points and if I don't get my orders because of some morons from gamefaqs i'm going to go down to my local best buy and setup a kiosk out front where I give away pirated copies of anything that MS makes from now until the end of days.

I played legit and ordered vista a couple weeks ago.
Started a new account and played legit so I could get a zune. (Couldnt get enough points on 1 account)
Now both the left over points on my first account, and the 14,000 on my second account are gone.
Guess its due to the new change in ToS, but I still hope they come back :(
Its pretty gay, but if it was gonna be free, I cant really complain. Oh wells

its pretty bad, when you put in hours to play legit and your points disappear, my lifetime shows but not my current,
and when I try to play chicktionary / flexicon I get "Communication Error" try again later .. pop up

maybe their just playing dead, until all the leet haxors get tired of humping a dead horse and move on to something else.

But they do say in their ToS that they can pretty much do whatever they want to so I guess they just did.

the good news is they did it by IP address, so until people figure out how to mask their IP and still play club live, the cheaters will be screwed. The bad thing about that is if you have a roommate and are on a router you are screwed.

in the end MS got just what they wanted from the cheaters. lots of free hits on the search and no need to pay out prizes.

Check the leaderboards - all those people who were going nuts the other day way over the cap limits are slowly disappearing from the All-Time lists.

And yes, all my points are gone right now (31381). I did NOT use any bots, hacks or macros (heck, I'm still trying to even understand how the silly things work) - I just happen to be one of those annoying people who loves word/trivia games.

Hey, I just got a 5 song download pack. I ordered it when they were accidentally put up for 0 tickets. They sent me a email saying it was shipped and would take 3-7 business days. Then they sent me another email with the code...

Edit: It is a download to a site called PureTracks. Anybody heard of it? Do its downloads work on the Zune?

Edit2: It seems the downloads are .wma which does play on the Zune.

Well I broke down and ordered the Zune with my points. I really wanted to get the Xbox but the way things are going it looks like there's a good chance that there will never be a way to earn enough points for one, especially with the caps and now removing some of the games. I'm burned out on it for now anyway. If it looks like they get their act together in the future I may give it another shot.

Is there a way to check and see if any packages are coming to your address from the Fedex website without a reference/tracking number? I tried the trick for the UPS site but it doesnt work on the Fedex site.

I was wondering about that too. I remembered doing a trick on one of those sites when Betas were being shipped out like 3 years ago but couldnt remember if it was FedEx of UPS.

Well my girlfriend who uses my PC to play, and made her account on my PC, has her points and mine are still MIA.

We both use firefox, no macros. Only difference between the two is that I ordered vista and she didn't. I wonder if the way I click flexicon (I wait till i have the answers in then hit all the search icons) made them think something.

Well if you have a prize that has a better points/price, you use all the points you had for the item you did want, and use them on that better ratio prize, then you buy whatever it is you wanted to get with points and you have leftover money, so it's better.

I'm pretty sure they are just upgrading and doing laundry work. ToS was the initial thing while modifying some games to be anti macro.

I was trying to get Vista Ultimate for my own use and not to sell. But I guess the world is just full of too many people trying to make a buck, so now Vista Ultimate is gone, and Vista Home has an insanely high amount of points for it.

This whole thing is really disappointing. I can only begin to think of the better uses my time would have been spent. I'll probably not order anything and just forget it ever happened.

Greed is what caused the problem in the first place... greed caused the cheaters to cheat. Instead of just going out and working a job, these greedy people saw an "opportunity" to make a quick buck with little to no honest work. Oh well, at least i have my own clear conscience. I think they are deleting points from cheaters. Because yesterday, I maxed out flexicon in and hour, and they deleted them soon as I logged out. But afterwards, I started LM with a 2 minute delay, to make it seem as if I was playing, and they didn't delete my points after I logged out. So, they either fixed the points issue, or they are deleting points from cheaters.

It's more like they're deleting points from people who can finish games fast.

But, I wasn't playing games really fast. I ran out of all the good games except Seekado...which takes a while to get through.

Other people say the server is just buggy.

I don't think they're being too strict with the timing, after all, 2 minutes for a flexicon with no answers is very fast. But, if you happen to get 9,525 in two hours, they're going to know something's up.

EDIT: Is anyone else but me sort of mad about the prizes? I think they need to add more prizes in the 5,000 to 20,000 range.

Itd be nice if certain people would shut up about the macros they are using. Thats why the other thread was deleted. Go to game$$$s if you wanna say how you use them.

I think it's safe unless someone decides it's a good idea to link to, explain how to use, or hint as to where to go to get the macro.

Spiders don't index a page like club.live every day. Sometimes for sites that are not content-focused, it may only index once a week. The reason it says that is because the last time it was indexed, the site was under maintainence and the title/description tags were changed to say so.

So I'm kinda confused right now... I know this is a 63 page thread.. so I'm just wondering something...

If I'm playing like Chicktionary, and use that site to descramble all the words... so I finnish a game in like 2 mins, my points are going to get deleted?

Nobody knows why they are clearing out points. It is most likely a bug somewhere in the system, or them being over-cautious and taking down anyone suspicious.

I'm having a serious issue with these games. I don't know if I've maxed out flexicon and chicktionary, but it won't let me play any more of those. I didn't lose any points, but now all I can play is clink and the other games. It's been like this for two or three weeks, and I only have 15185 points. Anyone know whats going on?

That means the games are maxed out. You have no puzzles left for flexicon and chicktionary.

That really bums me out. I worked my ass off to get three vistas and now theyre gone. :(
