There's absolutely no exclusions to this deal.. OTHER than the CD's not be FUBAR'ed and no sports titles unless it's this year (though they did accept an '03 Fifa).

So I met up with Guessed today and we hit up Hastings.. and he was prepared. I mean I kid you not he had stacks and stacks and stacks of games. So we bring in the first stack: 24 games. Titles such as Wakeboarding Unleashed, Jet Grind Radio Future, Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX, and several other titles like this - and got games free. He traded in 24 copies of those games and walked out with Ninja Gaiden, 2 Chronicles of Riddick, (One of which he gave to me.. I can't thank him enough), Psi-Ops, Megaman Anniversary Collection, Fatal Frame 2 on PS2, Jak 2, Jet Li: Rise to Honor.. ah crap what else.. Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, Fight Night '04.. and a whole ton of others. I traded in Legends of Wrestline 1, Parappa The Rapper 2, and UFC Tapout 1 on XBox and got Full Spectrum Warrior for free.

So then we head on down to Rhino, and it turns out, if you trade in two games that are worth at least $12, you can get one free. So he traded in 8 games, such as 1080 Avalanche and a few others, and walked out with.. prepaid in full's on Fable and Sudeki, Tales of Symphonia, and he let me get a free copy of Psi-Ops, to which, again, I cannot thank him enough.

So if you've got extra games, find a Rhino or Hastings and head down. After all, you can't beat a "Trade in 3 Jet Set Radio Futures, and get Chronicles of Riddick" deal.

Archaic - YMMV. It's whatever the system takes. I personally did two PS2 games and an XBox game for an XBox game, but now, after I did that, they're saying it must be for the same system.. so.. hit or miss, and depends on who's working, I guess.

Maximum value of new CD: $18.98
Maximum value of new DVD: $29.99
Maximum value of new game: $49.99 (so I couldn't have gotten either of the new Arc the Lad Collections they had, even if I had brought ps1 games).

$49.99 is also the max value of the new title for the Rhino deal, but as stated, they allowed it on preorders (they only take pre-orders for a very limited selection of games, though).

These two deals more than make up for not having Gamerushes, and having only crappy Blockbusters.

According to the guy at Hastings, when this deal ends, they will switch to doing 4 for 1 trade ins, implying that 4 for 1 is the norm for them. I had no idea. I may have to start going there more often. Definitely worth the half tank of gas I used.

Gamecrazy: No. They had a copy of Gauntlet (GC), but it was kinda scratched up.

Target: No. They had a few clearance games, nothing interesting or cheap enough to remember. They did have a decent deal on Gatorade, 12 20oz. for $6.44. I got red.

Gametrader: Sucked. I did pick up Record of Lodoss War (DC), and Gauntlet (GC, not as hard to find as I thought, I guess), but I didn't trade any games in. I tried to trade, but the guy took my games, went through them with a calculator, pulling numbers out of his head I guess, and gave me total of about $60 (probably about 15 games). I asked if he would tell me the individual prices, and he said no. I should have just walked away, but I decided to buy anyway. After trying twice to run my credit card (handing it back, I put it in my pocket, wait a minute, find out the line was busy, rinse, repeat) I just paid cash (although I did trade in a few penny guides for $1 each. Probably shouldn't have). I probably won't bother going back there when I am in Murfreesboro again.

TRU: I picked up 4 DC games (and you said they had nothing left, lol). Typing of the Dead (the reason I went in the first place, to go with the keyboard I picked up from Rhino), Mr. Driller, Space Channel 5, and, god help me, Seventh Cross: Evolution. The total with tax came to $16.42. Murfreesboro, it seems, has a .5% city tax tacked on to the 9.25% state tax.

EB: Star Wars Episode 1 racer (N64) for $2.00. I had picked out 3 N64 games to get the console, but they were out of consoles, so I didn't get them. Oh well.

SoundShop: You were right, it sucked. The flyer listed Rise to Honor as on sale for both $39.99 and $19.99. I didn't push it, since I had just picked it up in the Hastings deal.

Sears: Your Sears is even worse than the Nashville Sears stores with regards to videogames.

goldengraham: With the Gamerush deal, one got the trade in credit in adition to the deal, so, depending on the credit, it could work out better than this deal or worse (e.g. trade in 2 games worth a total of $20 credit at GR, get a new game and $10 in credit). The Hastings and Rhino deals work out better for me, though, since they require only a half tank of gas instead of 2 tanks.

The dvd value on trades is only up to 29.99. There is also no trades on box sets even something small like the upcoming Sealab 2021 set counts as a box set even though it costs 24.99. Kinda lame. I work at one so I know all this. They do have a sweet employee discount though 50% off of all used video games, dvds, and cds.

This deal made my day...I called this morning to confirm it, went by, and lo and behold, I saw a lone copy of Disgaea staring back at me...so I ran to CC (the stores are about a mile from each other), bought three games, and traded them in for Disgaea...which seems to be the one and only copy to be found in this town.

Big thanks go out to Scorch for posting this (I realized upon going in that there's a huge banner outside, but I never go by Hastings any more)...I think I may go preorder GTA:San Andreas...does anybody else remember off the top of their head what other preorders they offer?

Galveston, TX took the following in exchange for a brand new copy of Tales of Symphonia: Eternal Ring, Aggressive Inline, and Tony Hawk 3 (all $4.99 from CC). He said it would've come out to $7 store credit, but the system let him use it for the special deal.

Anyway, the Galveston store doesn't have much to offer. They were out of Spider-man 2 on Xbox. Lucky, I suppose, since it made my decision to get Tales much easier.

I normally don't trade in games, for I see it as a loss, but seeing as I didn't really touch these games anymore, I didn't see a problem with it! Maybe it also helped there was a store less than a mile away from me. I guess there is a good thing about living in a small place like Denton, TX! :D

I axed Extermination, Grand Theft Auto 3, and Gungrave for Disgaea. Only game that was ever paid for at full price was Extermination - the others were cheapies from a year or so ago. Ah well, they still had another copy of Disgaea left. This store was for same format only (3 PS2 games for 1 PS2 game).

They acted like my coming in to do their advertised deal was a huge imposition, and I waited in the store for almost 30 minutes while the fat chick manager attempted to figure out a way to tell me she wouldn't take some of my trades.

This is too too bad. Cause there's a place near me that has a bunch of used DVDs for 4 bucks...I was going to pick a few of those up and get like Sealab and Space Ghost and some of those other smaller boxsets.

I went in with 2 copies of Night Caster for the Xbox, and the lady told me "No doubles." I don't know if this applies everywhere, though. When I asked her to specify the details of the deal, she said the following...

1. No doubles
2. No sports games older than 2004
3. No pack-in's (i.e. the Tetris/Clone Wars pack-in that came with the Xbox awhile back

I think Hastings has been surprised with the deluge of cheapskates who have come in with crap like Night Caster and Rogue Ops in an attempt to trade. The employees seemed pretty annoyed when I was there just making two trades. My advice? Call before you drive too far, and get the salesperson's name so you can invoke it if they try a bait and switch.

I swapped ex rental copies of Rogue Leader, Luigi's Mansion, and Wave Race that I'd purchased at the same Hastings a while ago for $4.99 each.....and got Tales of Symphonia.

Also traded ex rental State of Emergency, Red Faction 2, and Rygar (w/ computer printout of cover art) for......Front Mission 4.

I had actually seen the sign for this deal over a week ago, but the fine print said "subject to buyback requirements" so I didn't look into it since I figured there would be a long list of exclusions like other stores that run similar offers.


A note on restrictions:

1. My store also made me trade in games from the same system
2. Games must have the original case and instructions. You may be able to get around this one by making a good quality computer printout of the cover and putting it in a DVD case.
3. While some people have reported that older sports games are excluded, you can probably slip in sports games that don't have years in the title. For example, they were going to take my World Series Baseball on the Xbox, so you could probably use games like NBA Street, Gran Turismo 3, etc.

I went there early in the morning, and didn't have a problem, to be honest....I gave them my games, and they wanted my personal info as usual. Then they were wondering if my games would be accepted, of which they told me to just grab a PS2 game, and we'll try it then. This is where I had the problem - getting help. The first time the guy asked me, I said I was fine, and then he disappeared. I sat around for 30 minutes to an hour trying to get someone to help me. I finally got help, got my trade in, and bolted home. :D

My take today: I traded in 3 of my old games i had, ico, star wars starfighter, and timesplitters 1 for onimusha 3, i also got the 10 dollar socom 2, it was marked at 29.99 but i showed em the ad and they gave it to me for 9.99. Then a couple of friends and myself raided the local Eb games for games under 7 bucks and bought 12 of those, of the 12 they accepted 10 i think, so we got stuff like splinter cell 2, mgs twin snakes, and mario kart dd. Just came back from an hour drive with a couple of friends. I got Wind Waker, Disgaea, MGS Twin Snakes, and Time Crisis 3 w/ gun. I was very surprised it worked with Time Crisis. What I did was I went to Gamecrazy before and picked up Tony Hawk 3, Rogue Leader, and Turok all for gamecube.

While the person checking the games said that I had to trade in 3 of the same system, they didnt care what system game you were getting. In other words, I traded in 3 xbox games for Disgaea.

Whoops, I didn't see this until recently - sorry about that! Stupid internet keeps going down....anyway, you shouldn't have a problem finding any of these games, to be honest - I do not see this Hastings as a place where you would be hard pressed to find any of this stuff.

I stopped by there with 9 games to trade yesterday, 6 for Xbox and 3 for PS2. My friend also had 9 PS2 games to trade, needless to say, the manager wasn't very pleased with us. Haha. They sold out of the 2 games I wanted most, Metal Slug 3 and Spidey 2 for Xbox so I settled for Samurai Warriors, Sudeki, and NCAA Football 2005 (PS2). Might call the Waxahachie one to see if they have them... :shock:

I believe the deal is for trade any three games, CDs, or DVDs, get 1 free. Obviously the value of the freebie cannot exceed $49.99 games, $29.99 DVDs, or $19.99 CDs. Or that's what I thought, anyway. :)

I know the guy that worked at Hastings, so I asked him if he knew about it. He did, and said I could trade for any system. So I took some games I got in trades from CC and previous things and got Zelda: 4 Swords w/cable, then ran to Gamestop and got 3 games for 14 and snagged La Pucelle.

If I find out it's still going on, I might go back and get Lupin the 3rd, FF: CC, and MGS: TS.

yeah i had a CC and a hastings pretty close to each other..........so id get the 5$ games and whatever they didnt take....i figured id take it back to CC, cause it was still unopened!! they took pretty much everything except 3 copies of nhl hitz (which they did accept the previous day) that i still have to take back to CC.....cause the different managers were all cool except this ONE bitch.......she said they couldnt have more than 2 copies of a game ((yet they have like 12 copies of DMC2...which i sold them 4 of......and countless others as well....so she was plainly being a cunt........and she was the only manager there....and since its not a big chain...they dont care if u threaten to call the district or regional manager..........cause i was actually trated like i was a poece of crap.........that i was less of a customer, cause i wanted to take advantage of THIER OFFER??......in that case...they need to start saying "anyone spending more than 10$ to the front of the line....anything less...to back...or go pick out more stuff to buy)).....and made me wait to the side of the line until everyone else checked out..........the last day, she was the only reg. open and made me wait thru 4-5 customers ....no biggie.....but the line kept piling up....about 11 people in line ....so i asked if had to wait until everyone in the store checked out......she said YES.........and i said man, give me my stuff.......and left.....or else i would have A NEW GAME right now..........*(^%^*& #%$ ....OHH THAT PISSES ME OFF........sorry for the rant.......that really wasnt the purpose of this post, but im not typig anymore so itll have to do...

My friends and I went on our lunch break (which is one helluva break since we work in Nashville) and there is basically nothing left. Pretty much every new game worth getting is gone.

They wouldn't even let my friend trade in 4 games for a used Ninja Gaiden. Why would they not let you trade used games for another used game?

Anyway, they still had the 3 for 1 sign up near the games but they declined to offer us the deal even though it was still posted in the store.

All in all it was pretty much a wasted trip for us.
