I'm down though I did horrible last year in the CAG league

I'm down with the live draft though I do have to admit its easier to steal players in a pre-rank draft but the live drafts are a lot more fun

I'm down if its live draft. Also, I'd prefer foxsports or sportsline since you don't have to pay for live scoring like yahoo.
Not sure if the GH thing would work since not everyone will have the same systems. 12-16 team is just fine by me. Any less and teams are too stacked and too thin if you are over 16.

I used foxsports last year and it was good. Been a couple years since I've used sportsline but that was good also.

Would it be too much to ask for the types who give up on leagues if they are not doing well or whatever else, stay out of the damn league.
I don't care if I'm in the basement, I'll see it through because not doing so can screw over other people and that's not cool.

I would play as well. The betting a game thing never really pans out though, plus, a few ideas like that have been shut down by the website in the past.

There should be a master list of people that sign up for tournaments/fantasy leagues and such that don't finish playing or don't even start so they can be automatically removed from any discussion of joining a new one.

i agree, i hate it when people quit leagues. last year my cousin, of all people, quit the league about halfway through. now he was in 7th place (out of 10) but he had some stars on his team, it was very annoying.

were almost at 12 teams, should we go up to 16 teams?

doesnt seem like the betting idea got any response, so lets just not worry about it.

live draft seems to be the consensus. when we get the teams settled we can decide on a date and time.

I think the only real concern is that players might quit the league part way through, but I'm not sure that we can regulate let, let alone punish it or anything like that. We could use feedback scores (though that seems very silly) or we could also use length of membership to CAG (like nobody in training). Let me know what you guys think.

Make sure you set the league championship to be no later than Week 16. Title games in the last week suck since alot of fantasy studs end up riding the pine the last week.

I lost the championship 2 years ago in the league with my friends for that very reason...

so i see no problem with ending the league on week 16.

I'd like to join and I'd suggest keeping it at 12 players. Any more than that and the free agency market becomes a joke.

I would definately be interested in playing, if there is still room. I would stay active, even if I was doomed to last place - I promise not to quit. If there isn't a slot open and the rest of the players don't want more than 12 teams, then I will be willing to take over an inactive team, if needed.

I vote foxsports since that's what I used last and it was quite good. I'm the commish of another league there right now and they seem to have a nice variety of options/customization for a free league.

never used foxsports or sportsline though i have heard some negative feedback on the latter (scoring issues and online availability).

As for the # of teams, starting lineups dictate the number. Standard lineup is typically 1qb, 2rb, 3wr, 1te, 1defense, and 1 kicker. This format works for upwards of 16 teams (though the talent level is spread pretty thin).

If there is enough interest we could institute use of the flex position lineup to tweek the starting lineup requirements. Perhaps starting 1qb, 1rb, 2wr, 1 flex, and a defense and kicker.

everything there sounds good except the defensive players. Tackles for instance are not an official nfl stat but rather are recorded by the individual teams, thats why some players (spielman with the lions for example and thomas with the dolphins) have ridiculous totals.

Also, i imagine information and projections for individual defensive players is harder to come by.

Alright the league has been created. 14 teams, 14 week regular season, 4 teams for 2 weeks of playoffs. It's on fox sports (http://msn.foxsports.com/fantasy/football/), you need a msn id for it.

The draft day, for now, is Sunday August 5 at 10pm Eastern. This may change depending on availability.

If your name is on the list in the OP, then you were the first to ask, so you're getting first dibs. You have 36 hours to PM me to get the league password. After that time your slot may be given to another player.

Please let me know if you have any concerns about scoring, positions, draft date etc, I will do my best to work with everyone in the league.

i just figure sunday is the day most people would be available. meaning, no school, work, dates, etc etc. we can always change it to a saturday or even a weekday if it works for most people.

I was looking at our league settings and noticed a couple things we may want to change.

1) Enable negative points for yards lost.

2) Playoffs are currently set for 4 teams 2 weeks, no byes and start week 14.
Should bump it to 6 teams, 3 weeks, top 2 get byes or change the current set to start week 15. No sense not playing the last 2 weeks, IMHO.

I like the first rule but sometimes teams won't play their starters for very long in the last 2 games if they are already in or out of the playoffs.

Speaking from experience, that's usually only Week 17.

A team may have a playoff spot wrapped up in Week 16 but they are almost always are still fighting for seeding.

Week 16 is kind of a grey area, but 17 is a big no-no in my book.

I can change the yardage thing, the points are the default for foxsports, so I dont mind changing them.

As for the playoffs, we should stay away from week 17, so six teams, i guess we can do Week 14 Team 3 vs Team 6 and Team 4 vs Team 5. I wonder if it will reseed automatically, well I'll look into it.

I'm commish of another league on foxsports and it doesn't look like it reseeds as they have the brackets posted.
I wouldn't expect them to for a free league either, so I'd go with no. Doesn't bother me though.

ok, so im looking at the point system for our league. it looks like foxsports doesnt offer an option for negative points for negative yards, klwillis maybe you can confirm this for me.

i also noticed that the default set up does not give points for kick return yardage or tds, id like to change this, but i want your guys input as well.

It's a bit late to consider scoring for special teams. I know football rosters pretty well but I would have a tough time naming more than a handful of kick and punt returners.

Also, with the roster requirements it is highly unlikely that somebody will start a special teamer at the flex or WR position (Players like Reggie Bush withstanding).

If you wanted to award points to defenses for returns I would have no objections but it is probably better to just avoid the whole special teams scoring situation.

well i havent been able to log in to the league all night. ive tried resetting my modem, router, repairing my connection, using a different browser. i can get to the main fantasy football page, but when i try to sign in just tries to load the page but never does. and its still doing it. very frustrating...

My browser crashed after the Jones-Drew pick in the 3rd. I picked up a couple of people to fill my roster out but it does'nt look too good.

Gore,Jones-Drew, Chad Johnson, and Kitna may be enough to carry me to a playoff birth but I don't see myself taking 1st.
