I was wondering if anyone knew how to connect one dvd to another so i can use the surround sound speakers, while the first one is still connected to the tv to view the picture only,my second dvd broke but the speakers still work and i wanted to connect the new dvd to the old one so i can use the speakers only while the picture is viewed through the new dvd which is connected directly to the tv

my situation is that my old dvd broke, but the surround sound speakers still work, i purchased a new dvd without surround and i wonder if there is a way i could hook the new dvd to the old one so i can use the speakers while i keep the new dvd hooked directly to the tv so i can see the picture,i tried to hook the new dvd audio wires directly to the auxillary input but it did not work,is there any other way to hook this so i can still use my old dvd speakers with the new dvd?

If the receiver still works you should be able to just use the original receivers inputs (red and white cables) although that is the biggest problem with the dvd-built-in receivers as on some of them once the player breaks the receiver also breaks. If there are no inputs on the receiver or if you cannot turn it on for inputs your only option is to buy a separate receiver.

No you cannot do this at all, unless your original DVD play has an av input to plug your new DVD into.

the receiever still works,i had the tv plugged into the auxillary and i had surround sound for my big screen, but what i did was unplug that outlet and tried to plug the red and white plugs from my new dvd into the auxillary where the tv was plugged in, to the old dvd, and it did not work, so i just plugged the tv back in until i can figure out if it is possible to connect the new dvd into the auxillary input on the old dvd so i can use the speakers or not, i was just confused as to why the surround worked from the tv to the old dvd surround speakers but they would not work connected to the new dvd .

This may be a dumb question but is your new dvd running through the tv and out to the receiver or is it running dvd to the receiver?
The optimal setup would be no sound from tv new dvd -> receiver
to hook up the other way new dvd -> tv in -and- tvout -> receiver
if the old dvd was not built into the receiver then it should work the same way just follow the path of your wires.
