OK I bought my PS3 and BB on 11/22 and I got the Protection Plan and I thought that people have stated that in the past with similar plans on like items they were able to get the difference if the price dropped can we do that with the PS3 then?

You mean the extended service/replacement plan? I don't believe that has anything to do with retail price protection - you get the standard 30 days at Best Buy. You can always get a refund on the balance of the service plan you bought though, no questions asked.

What I've been told by employees is to have the system "break" and then you can get a replacement system for the price it is at.
I actually had my PS2's audio start dropping out on me after I paid $299 for it originally. I got $299 in credit that I was able to use to buy a new one at $199 and then picked up a few games.

That's what happened with my Xbox warranty... but since the price drop occurred, and the store policy was to only give max of $250, I had to wait for the check from Corporate (without going to corporate HQ for a check to be cut... it's on the wall... or at least it used to be re: refunds)
Corporate took their own sweet time getting me my money, too. ;) But according to a BB employee I talked to, the replacement now "depends" on the manufacturer. Some of them are making BB send them the units to be repaired (like I mentioned iPods in a similar 36 0 thread... hehehehe, for one.. and some vacuum cleaners... Hoover, I think...)
So, if MS makes BB send the repair in, it's probably not going to be "replaced" (the fine print puts all this in lawyerese if you ever request the full agreement info from the store...)
