I sold a Super Paper Mario factory sealed that I got from Walmart to a member here. He recieved today and finds the game questionable. He's not accusing me of anything at all and Im leaving him nameless so he doesnt feel Im trying to out him or anything like that.

There are 2 issues.

One is he is suspicious about the back of the game having what I assume is partial spanish on the back talking about the game as seen here-

So at this point, Im asking everyone that has it, is that the way they all are?

Yeah, mine does. I got mine only a few days ago though so it might be a new thing.

I actually thought it was a foreign copy when I first got it but 2 hours into the game, I haven't seen a single thing in a language other than English.

Yeah, mine is the same. I got it right after it came out.

I got mine at launch and it has spanish on the back cover. Plays perfectly except Mario is wearing a sombrero the entire time. I really like it but it's not a traditional mario game at all. It's more like a splinter cell game or something because I spent the first two hours trying to sneak across the border without getting caught and now I'm up to the part where I find everyone low-paying menial jobs. Scheduling 4 jobs for each character is really tricky!

Mine is the same, and I bought it on day one.

So rest assured, nameless CAG!

Actually, mine has French.

...

But I live in Canada, and all of our games are like that.

That is how the game is suppose to be. Mario Party 8 is like that too.

It looks like it actually has French on the back as well. So English, French, and then Spanish translations.

I just looked at mine, and I see that it does indeed have Spanish as well. Fuckers cover their bases.

The nameless CAG was me and I was just super-confused by the language thing. Thanks to everyone for pointing out the normality of this cover.

And thanks again to Will for being an EXCELLENT CAG and seller!

Hope to do business with you again!

Don't have Paper Mario (yet), but checked my other games...WarioWare Smooth Moves and Big Brain Academy both have multiple languages on the back of the case. It's just how they do things.

So what's the second issue?

EDIT: Yep...I'm a slow poster.

Mario is Italian in my game, but Nintendo is Japanese...

TIME PARADOX

Yea Nintendo is doing this to appeal to the hispanic community. I guess they've got to cater to that market but I think it takes away from the back cover of the games. I mean it really doesn't represent what the game is like or features all that well.

I would imagine that most Nintendo first party games (besides huge ones like SSBB and Mario Galaxy) will have English, Spanish, and French on the back covers, and maybe in the manuals also (I know Wario Ware has all three languages in the manual).

That was messed up ^^^^^

but yeah, it was a bit funny... actually, come to think of it, there were numerous racial references in SPM.

Back to the thread, yeah, my ex-copy of SPM has the Spanish text as well. Actually, i mentioned this in the "official" SPM thread.

That's how they ALL are. I recall a soccer mom at Best Buy asking the sales monkey specifically about "why does PAPER FREAKING MARIO have Spanish and French on the back of the box".

They do this to save on manufacturing costs - instead of manufacturing 3 (or sometimes a LOT more) versions of the packaging and/or game, they make a 'universal' version that they sell in many different regions/continents etc. I'm sure you've seen games/consoles nowadays where you can set the language. Hell, take a look at the Wii console's box - English, Spanish, and French.

Why? Because that covers all the regions of North America - French Canada/Quebec, the rest of Canada, the English speaking US, and the Spanish speaking US + Latin America.

I assure you it's not any sort of freaking bootleg. This kid needs to go to the store and look at the back of the game.

Sorry, that was a little uncalled for... why can't i mention that i talked about the Spanish text in the other thread? Dude, were you offended that i said i posted something related to your question in another post? I can understand you're upset if i told you to do a search or something, but i didn't, did i?
