Last night I just logged in and got the valor top 6% from last week, whats that all about?

I earned a trophy, but I am guessing the ribbon moves from top 6 % group to group each week correct?

Its just that simple right?


Got the same thing 2 days ago.. it just popped outta nowhere. :applause:

Well I just checked out the Killzone storyline on Killzone.com and it's made me want to play the other 2 games. Kinda interesting stuff there.

You get a new one each week according to your stats. I don't know if how many of each you've gotten are saved somewhere.

Pretty awesome setting up turrets at the enemys delivery point and sitting back to watch them run in with a propaganda speaker only to get torn up.

I was wondering though, is there a quick way to take down turrets when you're done with them aside from blasting them with the shotgun a couple times?

nice man! haha the melee-ing your TMs is a good idea too when they are crowding you while you try to throw a turret up. good stuff!

Increase of the standard points settings for Bodycount. Should ensure longer mode on heavily populated games.
The return of Online Bots. Adding bots to an online game renders it ‘unranked’.
The option to create unranked games. Players will be made aware that a game is unranked upon joining.
Fix to Game Search functionality so correct maps are displayed.
Standardization of the Y-Axis controls on the HGH Scout when zoomed with the Sniper Rifle.
Fix to Sensitivity setting where the weapon animation did not follow the reticule correctly.
Fix for auto-aim exploit when rapidly tapping zoom/fire.
Fix to infrequent collision issues with C4 Proximity mines.
Fix to list of games displayed on search.
Stability fix relating to disconnect.
Fix to ‘Clan’ button functionality in custom game creation settings.

We are also working on the next updates and here are some of the areas we are exploring and investigating for the future patches:



Controls. Seeing about giving more options.
Expanding on Join Game searches and options.
Improving game and network stability.
Collision exploits on maps.
Improvements to help play with friends.
More game creation options.
More game options for clans.
Fixes to Clans unexpectadly losing tournament rounds.
Other minor fixes.


Now the above does not include the DLC updates that we are working on and they wont all come straight away, but I wanted to give you an idea of the areas we are exploring. If anything else pops up we will of course add that too More on future updates soon.

What are some good spots for the turret location. mine keep getting blown up before getting any kills it seems like. I put them in corridors and high traffic areas so that the turret isn't having to turn and look all over. I donno. maybe just keep practicing.

Read Rolento's blog about using turrets. It's pretty thorough and useful. Basically, you want to to fire into high traffic areas not be IN them because once spotted, it can be taken out pretty easy. I also make it a habit to hunt down and take out turrets so that may be why your turrets keep getting blown up if you're playing cag night games :)

Oh, man, technician sucks if you are on a team of noobs. Either

1)They set up turrets in crappy locations 1a) They then don't destroy them after.

2)This one happened to me today. I was in a hall setting up a turret by an enemy teams smoke nade spawn point, when a teammate tried to run by. He interrupts my build meter so I'm like "chill out I'm putting up a turret" he then tries to go by me again interrupting my build again. Then he starts melleing and shooting me to get me to move. Then some enemies spawn from the smoke and we get killed with no turret getting built. :(

3)they shoot your turrets to get by them...:facepalm: this happened today too and the teammate even blew himself up when doing it...

I did manage to completely keep myself alive using only my own turrets when I was an assassination target. I hid in a corner against on a wall on the very outside of the green area. Everyone kept running in the other hall thinking I was in there. I couldn't move an inch or I would step outside the green zone. It was a good time.

as an engineer it's actually good to die quick for faster recharge... I usually avoid medics.

Well I just checked out the Killzone storyline on Killzone.com and it's made me want to play the other 2 games. Kinda interesting stuff there.


all that back story is awesome, unfortunately you wont see it in-game lol. but for a fps i think kz has a very interesting universe.

Hopefully they streamline the warzone menus so your friends and clan aren't on separate menus. A party/invite system is needed as well.

Was in a room called "pistol wars" trying to get sidearm ribbons and saw someone from on here I think. they had the cag clan tag their name was blackeyedsniper or something like that. small world!

managed to grab like 5 sidearm ribbons and 5 spawn ribbons in an hour and a half.

I think I might be done playing multiplayer without fellow Beta clan members or on CAG nights because of what just happened pissed me off so much. My team is protecting the bomb sites and I'm playing saboteur. I put one c4 right on the bomb site and around the doorways, a teammate comes up and starts shooting at my c4. I get confused, maybe its a fellow saboteur, run up to him, hes on my team. He throws a grenade, blows up my c4 and then throws down 3 of his own. I just left the game right then and there realizing that people play to get stats and not to win.

My frustration lately has stemmed more from people a) not attempting to complete the objectives b) not being a tactician c) being a tactician but putting the spawn in insanely stupid spots.

^Especially at visaris hammer people ignore objectives. Since the 2 spawn points have that connecting window. A lot of time people get caught up trying to rack up kills by camping in the windows instead of doing objectives.
I actually managed to get a turret in the other teams stairwell there while everyone was up at that window.

And yeah I turned my mic on earlier just for the sole purpose of bitching at somone because they were throwing spawn nades 2 feet from our default spawn position. Everytime I would go to throw one by an objective there wouldn't be any left.

:lol: was screwing around in some warzone last night and the room had friendly fire on... it was really silly when I started getting headshots on myself after a while, not from the enemy but teamates. I wasn't surprised at all that we lost most rounds.

I hate friendly-fire! I've never felt as dumb as when I sniped my own teammate, haha. I also really wish the mic aspect worked differently. It's crazy that the two teams are able to basically communicate with each other, which leads to absolutely no team work.

When I signed on today I got a valor citation for being in the top 10% of players last week. I thought that was cool considering I just bought the game last week :P

Unlocked assault and the M4 in the same round last night in a pistol only room and went batshit with it the next round. Boost in a pistol only room is pretty unstoppable.

Stuff like this is what really turns me off on multiplayer achievements, trophies, ribbons, etc. in team based games.

Well, I finally beat KZ2. I will admit I struggled to play through the game, but once I got to the 8th mission, things really picked up and I was enjoying it. I especially love Mission 9, the barrens, because I like mech style action games. I wanted to play that level over and over again and wishes Guerrilla made a game like that.

Overall, the game started out slow, but picked up later. I give the single player a low 8/10 (I did prefer R2 single player in the end). Next up I want the Gold Trophy for General. I doubt I'll go back through single player picking up other trophies.

I wish this had the "you will respawn in x seconds" all the time, and I wish when the screen says "press X to respawn" it was actually telling the truth, but otherwise multi is pretty fun. While I'm playing with the noobs, at least.

When it doesn't have the "you will respawn in X seconds" It's because you are beyond repair. Medics can't save you anymore. Either from a headshot, nade, or hit after you were down.

Most of the trophies are pretty easy to get and some are fun like the martyr one where you have to kill 3 helgast while blowing yourself up with a grenade.

I understand that. Fully dead or not, I'd like to know how long I have to wait. Being able to move the camera, or see who killed me would be nice too, instead of staring straight at the ground.

Heh, yeah. I think it's the same ammount of time still. Just no visible timer.
I like that you can't look around though after because if I kill someone I don't want them being able to see what I'm up to after >=)

Yeah I hear you there... its like a race still for the ribbons..

Oh well paintball season is upon us, so I will get my "fix" that way, with real teamates that work for the win.

The clan match problem is probably why during alpha clans last match, the match was declared a draw after a few minutes of the tournament.

Can anyone tell me the difference between the EU version and the NA version? I think I might have been sold the EU version.

On the 'Press Start' screen, does SCEE show up twice at the bottom?

It says manufactured in the U.S.A. so that's a sure sign it is the NA version right?

I must say I'm having a fairly positive multiplayer experience overall. Teams working to go for objectives, a minimum of dickery, strangers squading me, etc. Every now and then I run into a game populated by jerks, idiots, or jerks and idiots, but not as much.

Very few assholes. One thing I love is that you can hear people after they die. Kill an asshole and all the sudden you hear "WHAT THE shaq fu! Friggen NOOB KILLED ME!" haha

I was cloaked sitting next to a target while defending a search and destroy mission and some guy started trying to place the bomb. I shot him in the head and got an earful.

yeah, out of all the FPSs I've played online, KZ2 has the least assholes, and even the actual assholes make it a point to work with you.

the problem though is when you are on a team and people aren't doing their jobs (ie. a tactitian who never makes spawn points a priority over killing).

This, is the biggest issue I have run into the most as well. When I play I usually try to play my part. If I am a medic, I will stay a little behind everyone and heal/revive as needed, same goes for the other classes. I am very satisfied with the game and I can see myself playing it for quite sometime.

Couldn't agree with you more. This is really the biggest problem with Killzone 2 that I have. Sometimes I want to play as an Engineer, but because there are no Tacticians, or Tacticians that have no clue on my team I'm forced to play as Tactician. Don't get me wrong, I love to play as the Tactician, but sometimes I want a break, and am forced to go back when I don't want to.

I'll never understand the mindset of some people.

Was playing as saboteur today and went right up to two people. They basically lined up for me conveniently and I headhsotted them both with the M4 pistol in a row. Then I hear one of 'em say "(inaudible mumble)..shot us like a $$$$$$".

How do you shoot someone like a "$$$$$$"?

edit about badges: Yeah I love engineer with C4 as secondary. But EVERYONE picks engineer now and so there are never any turrets left to use. And to make it worse they almost always put them in shitty places. So you spend half the time hunting them down and blowing them up and then rushing to a good place hoping no one uses them up again.

I was using cloak and mark and spot today and people were syaing snipers only play for themself. I came in 2nd. :P Mark and spot broadcasts the other teams position to all of us for one. Secondly I can snipe out people placing explosives, trying to take territory, assasination targets easily, and survive assasination easily while cloaked. Which equals wins for the whole team.

Sounds like you need to play TF2 on PC (on a good server).

I'm going through single-player currently and it's on-par with other cookie-cutter shooters, fun for awhile but it drags on. I also get motion sickness on some games and although it's not horrible with KZ2, it's there. I'm on my way to completing the 'Tharsis Ribbon' trophy and I still don't like aiming in this game. I had a problem with CoD4's near-perfect-for-a-console aiming so it's doubly worse with KZ2.

i was playing yesterday as a engineer with repair , and it was very fun, and prob got the most points in a game that i ever did with that class, surprising to see my name with the #1 next to it lol.. and then moved on to tacticians and had some fun with that.. as i play to win the objetives and a good placement of the spawn grenade will give you the ribbon easily in ever game.. prob be on tonight

Even if you're not playing your best. If you stick to doing the missions, you'll still end up pretty high on the rankings because you'll get a lot of mission points. For example, if I kill some random enemy I get +1 but if I kill someone in the capture and hold area, I get +3.

yeah seriously. last week I didn't even focus on missions half the time I was just trying to get the last few ribbons I needed to unlock mix'n'match secondary badges.
so yesterday when I signed in I wasn't surprised when I didn't get a valor award. Then today I sign in and I get the valor award and 2 trophies for coming in the top 3% last week.

It must give you the 6% trophy automatically too. and I already had the 10% one.


Side note, the servers are down. :( sucks. I was on a roll last night. I got all the medals for search and destroy, deliver, body count, so I get more points per thing and in one game I delivered every single propaganda speaker. I just need to stay alive as the assasination target 2 more times. I'm at 6/8 on that.

The first map pack was announced on GT TV, called Steel and Titanium. It offers two maps, one being the ISA ship that you start on at the beginning of the game and the other takes place on trains (haven't played much SP so I don't know where/if it is in the campaign) and you can hop between trains, though you have to watch out for obstacles that will knock you off and kill you.

Train level looks cool.

He announced also that the second map pack will contain maps from the first KZ.

Having never played it, I'm not too excited for the nostalgia, but it'll be great to play on some new maps.

maps should be free, new classes should be dlc. I love it how they did it in the company of heroes: expansion added 2 new races/class and instead of segregating the community they just didn't allow you to play as them, but you can still interact with them. since i know it wont be like that i was just fantasying

Man I never get honor ranks.


Map pack DLC is going to be a day 1 for me as well. Good timing on it too. I really interested in seeing how the New Sun level will play. But really it's all about the train!

I think it would be dumb if they made new classes cost $. Maps should cost $ (if they must..), new classes should be free.

It makes it an unfair playing field when you can buy abilities. Sort of like Bad Company how you could buy insane guns. People that didn't fork the dough over were stuck with the default weapons.

Wow, can't believe they are charging for maps already.

I never got any of the warhawk stuff, but at lease those introduced somewhat new content. 2 new maps doesn't seem like much of a value, but guess I need to see a price.

After all the "this is not COD4 talk" it looks like they are borrowing from the same playbook (they aren't the only ones). Who can blame them though, the COD4 maps are usually the top downloads.

Oh what I would give for GG and /6 to trade places.....Actually, it would be better to place it as, /6 gets the funding GG does (because it is true /6 was given a PS2 size budget for SOCOM (which just won't cut it this gen unless you're making a tiny PSN game), while GG was given one of the largest budgets ever for a first party game. Basically, when you get more money for funding, leads to more staff and more things getting done. It's mostly just a matter of SCEA not caring much for what happens with SOCOM in the first place, which was kind of unfortunate).

As for the map packs, I'm going to bet they will be $5.99 bundled together. That's a typical SCEA pricetag on NA content.

I ran into a glitcher the other day.

I had spot marked him before he got behind the wall of my teams spawn point. I watched the blue X run along the side of the map until he got there.

Here is the replay, he is number 19, Too_Lazy_2_Think. (http://killzone.com/kz/tour_round_history.psml?kz_match_id=3447963&kz_file_id=3035747)

If you watch at the 1:30 mark of the Capture and Hold round, you can see him (19) drifting along the edge of the map, starting up on the bridge near the HG's spawn. The reply seems to glitch some too, as I don't think he was really zapping from side to side of the map. But maybe he did but I do know that he got be through the wall on the right side a few times I as tried to figure out how to get rid of him.

On April 22nd at 8AM GMT, Guerrilla Games will release the next game update to their hit First Person Shooter Killzone 2, exclusive for the Playstation3.
The primary main aim of patch 1.24 is to enable the released versions of the game to play with Japanese release due on the 23rd of April 2009.
It also enables support for the first DLC pack – “Steel and Titanium” available on the Playstation®Store from the 30th of April 2009 and we have added three additional ranks to the top-end of the rankings known as ‘Hardcore ranks’.
There are also some minor improvements on finding and joining friends and clan member, but we will continue to improve on the system with the next update.

The patch is 57MB large and a full list of fixes and feature updates are below:

AI - Bots now skipping disabled/destroyed MGs in warzone when requesting mounted guns.
AI - Do not claim waypoints for the previous character when it's dead.
AI - Fixes bots getting stuck trying to arm/disarm S&D object when mission is already over.
Campaign - Fix for potential progression bug in Salamun Bridge.
Clan - User name, not users clan displayed in rankings
Clan - Winning 10 Clan Challenges causes the user to become stuck on the medal awards screen.
Controls - Lean & Peak - Zoom hold on and out of ammo it switches between regular/scope view rapidly.
Cosmetic - Blue screen tint which indicates scout cloak is occasionally enabled and will remain indefinitely.
Cosmetic - White squares on the grenade counter merge together when displayed in 1080p
Create Game - "Badge Combination" option does not work properly
Create Game - Online - "clan only" presets apply even after a player leaves a clan
DLC - DLC pack 1 - 'Steel & Titanium' support DLC - New Loading screens advertising the first DLC pack.
Exploit - Helghan Industries - Player getting out of map fix.
Exploit - Radec Academy - User is able to gain access to the roof when revived in a specific location.
Exploit - Reviving player stuck in wall collision can result in him spawning outside level
Exploit - Salamun Market - One sided wall allows people to be seen and shot from outside where they cant see or fire out
Exploit - Tharsis Depot - Player can get out of the "normal" play area and can get into some sniper/camp spots
Feature - Invite player from friendslist Feature - Join Clan Member list added.
Feature - Join Game - 17-24 players filter.
Feature - MP - Moving while seeing scores after pressing SELECT
Feature - The radar/map now has a larger radius
Feature - Three additional 'Harcore' Ranks added to the top limits.
Front-end - Add support to display more than 8 maps when creating a game /challenge/tournament
Front-end - Sorting ascending and decending ranks working better in 'Rankings'
Front-end - When in a squad, the Valor Trophy is visible in the Squad Tab, however the users rank is not being displayed on top of it.
Mods - Official tournament to be displayed first followed by custom created tournaments
Mods - Additional functionality made avalable to the in-game moderators.
Network - Server side fix for full games being displayed incorrectly.
Network - User is unable to use the 'Join Clan Member' tab due to Network Error Code 20002.
Online - File-synching with the Japanese release of Killzone 2 on the 23rd of April.
Sound - Turret placing sound continues when killed.
Stability - Crash when synching gamestate after a full mapcycle
Stability - Hang on a screen with a blank message window just before a message appears.
Stability - Reducing the load on the server related to syncing the buddylist
Stats - If a clan wins 24 Clan Challenges and goes to the result screen, the medal acquisition screen, which normally displays when you win 25 games, will display.
Stats - Number of air-support grenades used by tacticians does not add to the stats of joined user correctly.
Stats - Number of spawn-grenades used by tacticians does not add to the stats of joined user correctly.
Stats - User sometimes does not receive 1000 valor award when winning 10 Clan Challenges.
Text - % character not displayed correctly on the creating game dialogue box after selecting to create game.
Text - If a client receives an invite from a clan which has a '$' character in the clan name, the recipient will get kicked
Text - Minor Italian localization fix.
Text - Minor Japanese localization fix.
Tournament - Game decides winner if one of the two teams doesn't spawn in
Trophies - Fix for Wargod trophy unlocking pre-maturely

Exploit - Tharsis Depot - Player can get out of the "normal" play area and can get into some sniper/camp spotsI got into a spot today through the helghast search and destroy room. It was an awesome sniper spot where you overlook the spawn point of the helghast. Shoot em on their way out.
Wonder if this is one of the places they are "fixing" :(

You have to go to the second floor of that room by the stairs that you can see the captore and hold beacon from. Then jump on the rail in front of the little roof of the search and destroy computer thing.
Then jump from the rail to this tiny little ledge by an opening, you'll be able to see the propaganda speaker delivery point through it. Then duck and walk through and you are now perked up on a ledge you can walk along and watch over the helghast spawn point.

This patch is the biggest one yet, and addresses a large number of reported issues, exploits and bugs - but it also adds new functionality to the game for you to enjoy! I would like to highlight the fact that we are adding 3 new ranks to the game, reached at 5000, 10000 and 100000 points respectively. These ranks do not give any rewards but it allows the real hardcore players to show off their hard work to everyone in-game! Other highlights include a new 17-24 player search game filter, enlarged HUD radar distance and a much requested “Join Clan Member” tab in the join game screen. The patch also allows you to play against the next batch of contenders: Japan, who will be able to buy their copies of Killzone 2 on the 23rd of April and will be joining the community online.

Allow me to clarify on these new features a little: The new ranks we’ve added are basically a reward to all the players out there that have massive amounts of points, and we hope that it inspires other players to keep on playing. The 17-24 player filter was a direct request from the community because a lot of people think the ’sweet spot’ of the multiplayer levels is around 24 players instead of 32 and are creating custom games accordingly. The Join Clan Member tab was also a direct community request, allowing players to join clan members when they are playing regular non-clan related games.

There has been a lot of discussion on the forums about the lack of a ‘party system’ in Killzone 2 and rest assured, we are working hard on creating features that will make it easier for you to play with your friends online. These features include being able to join the same faction of a friend already in-game directly from the join game menus, manually being able to switch faction during gameplay and making existing squads consistent over multiple rounds; no more need to create a new squad every single round. These features will be coming to a patch near you soon!

I also wish they'd patch Campaign mode so the enemy AI was more stupid.

It does add a degree of unrealistic to the heat of battle, but to be honest it's useful in situations where I have my volume down to compensate for things I might otherwise hear. For example, I don't turn up my surround sound when I'm using a headset because it's fucking rude to make everyone listen to your background noise... otherwise I'd be more likely to hear the firefight going on behind me.

Eh.. it's give and take.

The trophy could just be for getting the two general medals. Which is all that's left after getting the badge, combat and mission ones. I guess they changed it so you don't need all the other ones to unlock it. Which kinda contradicts what they said in the patch notes. But whatever, I'll take it!

Nope. Single player doesn't effect multiplayer features at all. Multiplayer is quite different, there's no cover system and some weapons you find in the single player aren't in the multiplayer due to balancing issues. Lots of other differences too but it's more fun for you to find them as you level up your rank online.

This is the only game where I have control of the camera and get disoriented. Also, WTF is up with the menu screens on this game? Just terrible
I think resistance 2 is much more fun, with much more variety. I have 11 ps3 games and this is the only one that has dissapointed me. It is just OK, not much better than Guitar Hero Aerosmith really.

the train is pretty much crazy and takes getting use to due to the strange setup of the upper and lower levels.

overall I say it's worth it and the maps are different enough where they don't feel too much like the older maps at all. I will say the maps seem to be better suited for all classes now, with the scout in the cruiser being an exception.

the airbots can be used, but in few areas... i still have to check where but you can use them.

A little late, but did they add some tweaks to the turrets? Last clan match I was end I was really getting torn apart by those things. The air bots were actually hitting me. Also the radius of the 'nade launcher seemed to be wider or something. Something changed... Perhasps hit detection but it feel different.

I kicked ass with the medic, got all my ribbons very quickly, but with the engineer I set up the turrets, and then people walk up and blow them up without blinking. I've done it myself to other people's turrets as well. How do I pull off 5 kills in a match with these?

In corinth crossing a good place to get a lot of turret kills is to go up one of the sets of stairs in the center bottom floor and then while on the balcony jump over the rail onto the very skinny pipe thing that connects the 2 balconies. while standing on the skinny pipe/scaffolding put a turret up there.

Or at the highest level of corinth crossing put it at the top of the ramps you have to walk up to get up there. This is especially good during search and retrieve. Lots of headshots this way.

You just have to find good spots like these.

Played the second new map.. not as big of a fan of that one as I am the train which is funny because people on a different board preferred the cruiser. Oh well, I think because it was a smaller room (16 max) it made a difference and would be better with more people.

I'm in the same boat, I don't have those trophies and I doubt I'll ever go for them. I like that they're unique but it's basically impossible to get unless I'm playing Killzone for hours upon hours in one week. Well, at least they're not "get *number* of *weapon* kills in a ranked match" trophies.

I see how Rico's meathead personality fits in, but still he got the one guy killed by being an impatient jackass and by killing Visari sets up a third game with another Earth defense plot. So.. in the end it all makes since and is vital to the storyline, but ya know.

I dedicated (way too much) time to this over the weekend and have been leveling up in MP and all the new classes add so much more to the gameplay already. I think I'm pissing off tons of people by boosting and punching them out and I've been able to get the seek and destroy bombs planted this way. Only thing I'm not any good at is the propaganda.. I have yet to cap one so I have to work on that.

I noticed immediately that the assualt weapons sour the experience, I think keeping the class but with pistol only is still pretty fair. But assault with boost is an absolute monster for planting/removing bombs. I was doing a round on Vekta and I had to be on the absolute worst team ever. I single handedly had to plant the spawn grenades and set up the bombs by myself. Our teams were tied and the guy who was the assassination target on our team decided to run to the other teams base for who knows what reason. Another round there was a guy placing spawn grenades in the 'nest' in Radec so he could snipe even though it's not far at all from base (and not that clever to stay in the same place to snipe the whole map either). I guess some people will just do whatever they want.

I'm getting the 'not correct rank' to join a lot of the servers now and when I do join, everyone usually has stars in their ranking so I'm getting up there. It's nice to get 4-5 ribbons on each round of play now when I used to be lucky to see one at all.

Surprisingly, I haven't touched the multiplayer yet, but I'm inches away from beating the game on Elite. Playing without a cross-hair most of the time seems to make you a better player in general, if you can stand it.

haha yeah QiG sometimes it feels like I got put on a team as a joke, the team is so bad. A lot of times with this game you get a team where everyone acts like rambo and not as a team and you end up having to try to do everything yourself like you said. I rarely quit games, i take my losses with my wins, but if the team is just so frustrating I will skip out and find a new game lol.

Eh, I played on Veteran the 1st time through and there were some pretty unforgivable sequences. By the time you finish the game once, you learn a lot about each level and the best way to approach each section. Honestly, there were parts of the game which took me forever on veteran that I breezed through on Elite, much to my surprise. I hope to have Radec beat by the end of the week, but that last fight in the palace is ridiculous.

As we hinted way back at GDC, the second DLC pack for Killzone 2 will be a "retro" level pack arriving to the PS Store on June 11th for $5.99 and we are here to give you a sneak peek as to what you can expect.

Once again we are taking a nostalgic journey back to the original Killzone by providing you two new levels in a pack Guerrilla Games has called "Flash and Thunder". The two levels are odes to the Beach Head and Southern Hills levels from the first Killzone. Both are fan favorites from the first game, but have been re-envisioned with Killzone 2's engine and overall technology. The levels also offer a unique twist that will truly keep players on their toes, so watch out for an explosive gameplay element that will have you running for cover...or risk a quick death.

In the Beach Head map, the ISA must defend their stronghold after the Helghast land on the sandy Vektan beaches. As torrential rain and gale-force winds batter the landscape, the relatively small size of the level creates a frantic hand-to-hand battleground, with the water filled craters supplying only limited cover. Picking your way across the harsh terrain, you will find many opportunities to sneak up on the enemy and take them down at close range. And if you’re able to get to them in one piece, there are also lots of higher ground sniper spots to explore…

In the Southern Hills map, the battle takes place around a central Helghast base on top of a hill. Joined a melee/airbot game last night. I need 2 more airbot and 7 more melee. I only got one melee ribbon in the game. Everyone kept using pistols it was ridiculous.

I also don't understand something. If I get 30 melee kills in a game, do I only get one ribbon? Or do they stack so I will get 3? I could have sworn I got more than 10 melee kills in the game last night.

I'm pretty sure they don't stack. I get over 20 kills for pistol games all the time but only get 1 ribbon. I've managed to get 4 or 5 turret ribbons. I'm having a hard time getting the rest. Recently, every game I'm in, HALF of my team has taken all the high/good spots. They're all snipers :wall:

Gotcha, I can't seem to place the turrets in a good enough spot or I fall short of the 5 kills, or other turrets are up and I can get mine up enough, etc.. I'll just have to keep plugging away on it. I have not been playing the game as much anymore so leveling up has been slow for me.

Which is fine because, I don't get burned out on the game and it lasts me longer. I'll have to go though the single player portion again to get some of the trophies.

I've found that the "long" games are usually a good way to harvest badges/points. NOT the most efficient, but good. Devote a good hour or so and you can get pretty much any of them you want in one run. I'm never sure when I get X kills cloaked or disguised so I tend to go overboard with em, but it's the best way to get airbot badges without using 'alternative' methods.

Yeah the way I use to do it was join a long game, setup turrets, switch to another class I need badges on, do their stuff, switch back to engineer to do turrets, etc... just multitask. strangely I've found teams with players who do so usually win.

If they do a deal for all four maps, I'll probably pick them up. The Beachead was my favourite map from KZ1, although I never played it online. The new versions look nothing like the originals, which were quite bright. They look like they've just completely redesigned them from top to bottom and just used the names from the first game. No complaints here though.

I was struggling with the Turret badge until I read rolento's guide. You should check it out. Placing turrets in high spots is best. I found the two best maps were Radec overlooking the courtyard and Corrinth crossing. On CC I got the best results by placing the turrets in the bottom level, middle of the map on the iron girders that join the two sides of the map. Jumping the barrier onto the beams means that they don't normally get fragged by grenades as they're above floor level.

I'm struggling with my cloak badge at the moment. Too many people must have spot and mark.

Overall, I've decided to switch to smaller games 12-20 ish players. I find them a lot less frantic and the people playing them seem far more interested in playing the game with good strategy rather than running around blasting randoms. I was getting so annoyed with Assasination targets running against the enemy just looking for another couple of killpoints. 'Tards.

If you have the new maps, try Wasteland Bullet. I got all my turret badges fairly easily on this map. Just run forward out of the spawn point to the next car, and place a turret at the top of the ramp to the other side of the map. Keep 1 (or better, 2) turrets there the whole game, and you'll get 5 kills pretty easily.

Yo guys, I am late on the train but I got KZ2 the other day and am enjoying the multiplayer intensely. I have one more rank until I get the Engineer class.

I just remembered from all the podcasts I listen to that the map pack just came out recently. Is it extremely popular? I am able to play on several non mappack servers but was just wondering how many servers I am not seeing because of the expansion.

I am a little frustrated that you can't individually map keys in the game...unless I am mistaken. Also if anyone recommends any hint sites that would be great.

Does SCEA host servers?

But after a while I can't hear anything but the "hum" of the cloak when it is on and even when it is off. I can still hear my own gun firing but not others. So I'll be getting shot at and not know it until someone pings me and I wonder why my controller is shaking and the screen is getting bloody. REALLY annoying. All I can hear is that and the ambient sounds of the level.

I think it might have to do with the cloak since it didn't happen when I was playing a medic, though I could be wrong. This has been happening for a long time... Wonder if my inputs are set up wrong on the system itself of what. But for the sniper class sound is really important and this is messing up my rounds still. :roll:

I've had the cloak silence 'bug' many times, it usually happens when I'm rolling as a dedicated sniper on long Pyhrius Rise games. Switching classes doesn't help, you have to exit the game, or just live with it.

I usually just tough it out since by then I'm usually in the zone and making a nice spread of kills.

What does everyone think about the new patch removing Spawn Point invulnerability? At first I was quite dissapointed, but now I see it's starting to force players into more tactical play. Positioning of spawn grenades has to be thought out. Team work is essential - people need to protect the spawn sites. Placing SG's can draw opponents away from objectives as they go for the instakills. Squad Leaders become oh so more important.

Any thoughts?

i think you are invisible for a split second longer noe to at least give you a change to run from any camper. overall the invuln is better how it is now.

i dont like how powerful airbots have become. suddenly they are ten times more powerful than turrets. ive set up multiple turrets trying to take down an airbot and they all get destroyed. i think they leaned a little too far toward the airbot side.

I know what you mean about airbots. I was in Radec on the ISA side at the back of the corridor that leads from the spawn area onto the square and I got killed by an airbot in a couple of shots. It was a ridiculous angle. Still, at least it makes it easier for me to get the airbot badge now.

Beat SP 2 days ago and got into online last night. First game I went like 4 and 12 and had about no fun at all with it. 2nd game I went like 25 and 12 and lead the game with points. Its a lot of fun. I'm considering selling my 360 and wii and just playing this and resistance 2 this summer. I don't game enough as it is, and I have a feeling this game will be taking up more gaming time than I even have at this point.

About removing the SP invul, I think they should have cut it shorter, instead of removing it since I've seen what should be out of the way SP turn into camp heaven. Might just take some time to filter around really.

Did anyone get the new maps? I won a code from Sony and I'm really enjoying both actually. Especially beachhead.

YES! I beat the game on Elite this morning. I'm currently working on the 0 deaths trophy. About that.. Does anyone know if I have to play the entire game again or can I just go to mission select and skip the levels where I have 0 deaths?

I just got this game and have only played about 30 mins of it, and it is damn fun. However, the lack of a push-to-talk in multiplayer drives me nuts. My BT headset is also nearly impossible to quickly mute, so I guess I need to buy a new one. :(

I finished the campaign on Sunday and I really liked it. Why can't other FPS give us this many locations. It seems like this and R2 are the only games that the developers tried to give more than one or two types of levels.

Now, back to the multiplayer. I don't think I'll get General anytime soon but I'm chilling at Master Sergeant so I'm on my way.

Man, I SO WISH KZ2 had push-to-talk. That's what SOCOM uses and I freaking love it.

I just got my PS3 back from my cousin after a month of loaning it to him (and netting me $110 for nothing), and I just updated the game to 1.27 and bought the DLC and I must say these things.

The DLC is great. I love both maps. I'm glad to see they weren't just remade, but had brilliant additions to them to make them fit with the new game. Beach Head is my favorite of the two, although I kick more ass on Southern Hills.

And the removal of the Spawn Invincibility was a smart move until I saw 6 guys camping at 1 spot on Beach Head. I think they should have kept the same amount of time (maybe a tiny bit less), but make it so where if you fire a shot, you lose that invincibility.

The high precision mode made no difference to my game play, so I'll consider it a plus that I don't have to relearn the controls.

Anybody wants to get down on some DLC maps, add me. JosephWhiteIII

Are KZ2 matches usually pretty quiet with voice chat? I feel like this game has way less people talking than the shooters I play on the 360. Maybe I should find some CAGers to play with?

I have both map packs and can never find people to play. The most I've ever played is 4v4 on Vekta Cruiser.

I'm not a huge fan of Wasteland Bullet, but Vekta Cruiser is awesome. Beach Head is crazy too, but I have yet to play Southern Hills.
