Favorite Adult Swim Original?

The first season of the Brak Show was great, then it started going severely downhill. Sealab 2021 remained outstanding. Birdman's alright, but I don't know when it's on. Aqua Teen I always thought was utter crap, I don't understand how anyone could find it funny.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force is the best show they have. I mean comoe on, it's Number one in the hood G. Sure its sometimes not the smartest show or the humor isn't upto the simpsons, but it is hilarious. Everytime I watch it, it always manages to make me laugh. the episodes are just not stop funny like the episode where shake goes to Guatemala for plastic surgery and Meatwad, loving the silence, keeps playing mind games with him. Where else can you get a giant spider called MC Peapants or a cow name Sir-Loin. Aww, great show. It gets my vote. Brak is also pretty good. To me it's very reminiscent of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, but slightly not as funny or good. Many times the jokes seem to fall flat lately. To me sealab 2021 has its moments, but most of the time the jokes fall flat and it just seems stupid. Harvey Birman is tied with ATHF, because it is original, highly funny, and it is very cool to see characters from other universes.

ATHF is okay...I LOVE the Dr. Weird segments though. That's the whole reason I watch. They need a Dr. Weird spinoff.

But Sealab is the best. The dodgeball/time warp episode is classic.

aqua teen hunger force. you can't deny that the "dumber dolls" episode (which features happy time harry) is one of the best episodes of the modern era animated television shows. "i've got these: action bills."

some episodes of the brak show are great. i'm a big fan of the staring contest episode. and we can't forget the line "i may not have 17 inch claws, but when i grip you you know you've been gripped!"

i think harvey birdman has actually been better lately than usual, although of all the adult swim originals it's the one i've gotten into the least.

ATHF, like many of the other Adult Swim shows, is pure crack-addled genius. I love Sealab and Harvey Birdman too, but I find them to be less consistent by a hair. Brak Show even less consistent. But they're all really great shows in the end.

As someone said, where's Home Movies? Like some of the others, I thought it was crap at first (especially the fugly Squigglevision first season) but grew to love it. Not to mention the excellent WB imports Mission Hill, Oblongs, and even Baby Blues is decent, if a watered down Simpsons clone.

Sealab and Harvey Birdman earn special places in my tail-end boomer heart since I can remember the satirized shows from their original broadcast runs. Back in the days when the networks usedto run reminders that this show was actually in color and you needed yourself a color TV or you'd descend into eternal damnation upon your imminent demise.

I give Harvey Birdman my vote for all the old memories it dredges up from the bottom muck of my mind where it lies like a murdered housewife.

That episode, along with the one with the Scooby Doo characters, are absolutely hilarious.

Sealab is more consistently funny then Harvey though. When Harvey is good, it is really good, but it misses the mark far too often for me to give it my vote. I just watched a 2021 episode that I had TiVoed from god-knows-when, where at the end the blonde chick was all hopped up on pills and marrying some bit-player that turned into the "One." Great episode, especially the very end with the nerd in front of his computer writing the script.

Sealab is the most consistent indeed. And it happens to have some of the best moments in Adult Swim.

ATHF is also wonderful. I used to hate the show, but then I gave it a second chance. And I'm glad I did. The happy time harry doll episode is great.

I think that Harvey has the funniest moments, but it also has episodes that just drag on.
Brak has its moments, but they are rare.

ATHF is my favorite now, it used to be Sea Lab, but the last 2 seasons have sucked for me. It doesn't help that the voice actor who played Capt. Murphy passed away, he was great.

And I give credit to Space Ghost C2C for a lot of these cartoons even being made, as it was the first of them to take an old cartoon and make it a spoof of itself. That show had some moments, as did the cartoon planet, I still enjoy Brak's tales of suspense from that.

Edit: Capt. Murphy was played by Harry Goz, his son Michael plays the new capt. Tornado Shanks.

That is up there as one of the best new adult late night cartoons defintiely top 5 with athf, birdman, fam guy and maybe another. they can do more on showtime, curse, drugs ect.. not many episodes of it though, i keep seeing the same one where they loose the poodle they were watching

Before there was Adult Swim, there was -

Dragon Ball Z at midnight on Toonami for 3 years. Don't mock me. It was gratuitous fighting with some sort of plot and I liked it - except they kept restarting the series over every few months. Now I have no idea what's going on.

But now Adult Swim is here and they introduced me to Family Guy (you can keep 90% of Futurama). My vote goes to ATHF. I remember catching it a long time ago, and it made no sense. They start playing it more frequently, and now it makes even less sense, but boy is it funny. Mooninites.

Harvey Birdman is hit and miss as WildWop said but still damn funny. C'mon, the episode with, er, uh, the Indian and his growing problem. Classique! The one with Harveys sidekick (yes, I'm terrible with names) where he talks nothing but Japanese? Fantastique!

Sealab = effects of pot in cartoon form. I'm so dazed and confused everytime I watch it. Certainly the raciest (that's raciEst...) show of the lot. That blonde is filthy!! :)

Homes movies is nice but it's not an adult swim original. Use to be on WB along with the Oblongs I think.

I thought about adding spcae ghost. But the fact is they haven't made new episodes of SGCtC in around three years. The episodes you see occasionally are acxtually from the late 90's before the turn of the century.

ALL these shows owe ALOT to SGC2C (the originator). I voted ATHF but if SGC2C was on there, it would have gotten my vote easily. I want SGC2C back dammit.

Personally, I don't like most of the originals.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force is easily the most moronic thing I've seen in a good looooooooong time. Seriously. It has never made me laugh. Or even chuckle. Shake is an ass, but he's not a funny ass. Just someone you want to punch. Meatwad is dumb, but not funny dumb. He's just annoying. Frylock is cool, but that doesn't make up for the fact the rest of the cast is filled with unfunny idiots (Okay, the Mooninites have gotten a chuckle out of me, but that's because I used to play Atari.)

Sealab- This really doesn't fare much better. It has its occasional moments, but most of the laughs are due to the fact it's 11pm and my brain is so dead that I'll laugh at anything (except ATHF). Really just... nothing intelligent.

Brak- ...I haven't seen much of it, but it's not as good as Sealab (and see my reason why that is... you get the idea)

Harvey Birdman- HB is pretty hit and miss. Sometimes, some episodes are downright rolling-out-of-your-seat-hilarious-satire. Examples of this inclue the Dabba Don and Squirrel Secret (hey, anything that mocks the hideous terror alert system is funny in my book. That episode was brilliant.) On the other end of the spectrum are episodes which are pure... well... random dumb gags. The Inch High Private Eye had little other than just... random gags. So, some episodes are just plain super, and some are just plain... weird.

All in all, I'll stick to Futurama and Family Guy, which have yet to put out an episode which I can say I truly disliked. (sure, some aren't as funny as others, but neither has had an episode which made me so bored that I changed stations)

So... in my opinion... get rid of some of these originals and GIVE BACK SATURDAYS TO PURE ACTION. Comedy has its own night and takes up most of the weeknights. Just let the anime fans have their Saturday night since they're about the only people HOME on Saturday.

Edit: I should add, however, that other than Simpsons repeats (from the golden age) and possibly intellectual chanels like Discovery and National Geographic, I don't find anything non-Cartoon Network that's worth watching anymore. (And I don't know what channel Discovery and NG are... and I don't get Tech TV or Anime Network, so...) I just stick with Cartoon Network whenever I watch TV. How ironic is it that the only channel with anything mature, witty, and intelligent anymore is a cartoon channel?

They had an ad the other day for a new Adult Swim Original. Has some bulky action hero like parody as the main character. Forget the name, on;y saw the commercial once.

As for things I want back on CN, We need to bring back Moltar to Toonami! Screw Tom! Moltar ruled!

Aqua Teen hunger force is a great show. some of the episodes are kinda "eh", but they still have funny moments that make them worthwhile. Carl is especially hilarious("No that's ok, I'll be back, hey do ya think the Gun store is still open?")

SeaLab 2021 is another great show, I'll never forget The Legend of Ol' Baggy Pants, or Stimutacs("Well, stop bein' a bitch and PILL ME UP!") It sucks that the guy who did Capt.Murphy died, but his son does a good job in his stead.

Harvey birdman is beautiful as well, lest we remember the episode where Harvey Kills Falcon's dog and gets jailtime, only to discover later that it was all a clever ploy to celebrate his birthday.

Also, one that deserves high honors is Mission Hill. That show was truly fantastic. Who can forget "Damn him and his douchebaggery!"

the three big one's (AQTHF, Sealab, Harvey) are what make adult Swim adult swim, but if they brought back Mission Hill...*orgasm*

Yeah, great show. Adult Swim has a knack for taking failed WB animated series and realizing their potential before anyone else does. (Home Movies, Mission Hill, Baby Blues, The Oblongs... err, Ripping Friends is still bad. Sorry)

Let's not forget the great one-shots too, I want to see more Welcome to Eltingville as well as Danger Brothers!
