I'm not going to get into all of the details about how and why I came to buy this product, I'll cut straight to the point. I sit about 12 feet back from my TV in my living room and have always noticed my Wii controls to be a little skittish. You can mainly notice on the channels screen as the cartoon hand jitters back and forth. I'f I'm sitting leaned back on my couch it's worse but if I lean forward and rest my elbows on my knees it steadys more.

If I remember correctly the Wii sensor bar has a range of 8-12 feet max so I'm definitely on the edge and outside of the recommended usage range. I have had my Wii since launch and have played and enjoyed many games with out this ever being an issue. However after reading some articles from IGN quite some time ago about possible third party sensor bars as well as home made ones that were stronger than the stock Wii sensor bar, my curiosity peaked.

I just recently saw the Nyko Wireless Sensor Bar at my local BB and my curiosity instantly came back. It says it works up to 25 feet which would be double my living room sitting distance. I have to say that this thing works a LOT better than the stock Wii sensor bar. I haven't seen my cartoon hand even quiver and this is from me finally being able to lean back on my couch as comfortable as possible.

It is wireless so it takes batteries, 4 AA (yes 4 of them and they ARE included and covers 30 hours of use). However as a CAG I'm sure you have plenty of AA rechargeables around the house (especially if you have a Wii). There is a power button that you must turn on in order to operate your remote. So this esentially forces you to get off your ass to play your Wii (so last gen). It has three settings for power saving. A one hour shut off, a two hour shut off and an always on setting. With the always on setting you will have to physically turn the power off (yes that means getting off your ass, again).

The one odd design flaw of the product is an extremely bright Wii Blue LED power light. This thing is so bright you can use it as a falsh light. Oh and it's pointing straight at you. It's extremely distracting while doing anything on your Wii. So what I did was put a piece of tape over it (just don't forget to turn it off when you're done playing).

I've only been able to play around with it in the channels menu as well as a little bit of RE4 Wii Edition. However I HIGHLY recommend this to Wii owners that have a larger room that they play in. You will instantly sense the power and control that this product gives you and at $20 I think it's a fair price (even though these parts are dirt cheap and I'm sure Nyko is making this for less than $5). I wouldn't doubt that Wii owners with smaller rooms would also feel the benefits of this product.

Overall Product Rating (thus far): 8.5-9

I have this same bar. I sit about 25-30 feet back and it works very well. Good review.
