This thread is for Clearance deals, not sale items or raincheck "scams"

Keep extraneous discussion to a minimum, as posts not pretating to clearance deals may be deleted by the mod crew.

I have a question about a game I got. During my break, I found Karoke Revolution at one Target by my work for $29.99 and I found that quite not right. They had non-GH of Xenosaga for $29.99 also (I scanned them). So I assumed they really sucked at updating their prices. Well, I bought Karoke Revolution anyways for now and didn't want to open it until I confirmed if I can do a price adjust at a different Target.

I called some other Targets to do a pricecheck and said they couldn't find a SKU so they couldn't give me a price. What I wanted to do was go to the returns department and ask them to do a price adjust but I'm worried that since it's not in the system anymore, it could come up $0.00 and there's no way I could have them use the price gun and they'll probably make a big hassle and call the mangager over and they'll be like "Well, we can't do anything about it, blah blah blah"

So what should I do? Should I just return it completely and then re-buy it again? (assuming they'll put it back on the floor)

Also, where do you get off calling the Target raincheck deal a "scam" ? I'm glad something is finally being done about the fact that their advertised items are usually not in stock when I go to purchase them. The real scam is Target's bait-and-switch advertising.

Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.
*note* I strongly suggest using half.com as they have just about everything you could ever want. Another good site is:

They have some of the rarer games, however, every now and then you'll come across a game with no upc for Ganesha knows what reason. - Zen

3) Go to www.schworak.com/upc/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.
*note* Scworak, makes you sign up after a few barcodes. It's free, and probably my favorite, but if you don't like signing up for things use the other 2. - Zen

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

How is it a scam, when the raincheck CLEARLY SAYS (the first part in bold, I'd like to add) "CHOOSE A SUBSTITE Choose a substitute and recieve the same percentage off (listed above) on a regular-priced item within the same product category (i.e. TV for TV, doll for doll, shirt for shirt)." How is it a goddamned scam if you are following THEIR WRITTEN POLICY???

firstly, just to let you know, it's target policy to NOT do price adjustments at guest service for clearance items. price changes, sale prices, etc... they will do, but not for clearance.

secondly, you can return the game, but you can't buy it back on the spot. not sure why, because it's stupid. i've helped a customer before though in a similar situation. she returned a cordless phone that she never opened, and it went on clearance. they said she couldn't buy it back, and she returned it anyway. she came over to electronics to buy other stuff and the topic came up. i went over to guest service to pick up the reshops (the term we use for go backs, stuff that ends up in the wrong dept, etc.) and lo and behold, the phone was there. brought it back and she bought it at clearance price. there's probably something in the system though that they can look up later if you try to return it again.

This place is a fairly new super target that I'd never previously seen any clearance at, but it looks like they've got in the act now. Frustratingly though they also had Pacman World 2/ Pac Man Vs, but it rang up 19.99. I bought it because I'm hoping I can find a store that does have it priced at that and I can sneak a PA.

I was going to point out how you stated you didn't pick up pitfall because it was supposed to suck, but you have Mobile Light Force 2 (which is supposed to suck more), but you edited your post before mine came up. I picked up Pitfall (PS2) last night at Rivergate (Nashville, TN) Target for $10 ($9 something). It was stacked at the counter with 3 other clearance games, which made me think it might belong to another shopper, but I asked the only guy around, and it wasn't his. It was a young guy at returns and he said they can't adjust . . . I had him return it. Then asked if I could rebuy it . . . he wouldn't let me (store policy). I saw him toss it in the return bin and left.

I returned the next day and the game was in the loose game section (greatest hits area) with no red tag! It was now $5 in the system so I rebought it.

If I had left the red tag on . . . they would have put it in clearance and it probably wouldn't have been there when I got there.

This might be worth a try for others doing returns.

There is some weird bug in me that can't stand having paid more for something than I could have.

As for losing the game . . . I have so many unplayed games . . . I've clearly (like many others on CAG) crossed over into an area where SOMETIMES the games matter less than the deals themselves . . . very sick!

In my experience, the clearance endcaps are always in the very back of the electronics section, or maybe even the next section over - I've seen games and blank VHS tapes tossed onto shelves next to Health and Beauty, and once next to the power tools. You've just got to look around for the shelves of items that look old or have been opened, all crammed together.

Alright, I've never been to the one at State Line and 135, but the one farther down at State Line and 80 something never has anything from what I've seen. I've only been to that one because I pass it on my way to school.

Hey, I'm lazy too. The reason I'm not up and running to Target on a weekly basis right now is because I really have every game that I want at the moment. At least as far as potentially clearance games go, anything I don't have is either new or already long gone from Target's clearance (ie - Animal Crossing & Mario Party 4). Anyhow I think I'll stop by tomorrow just for the hell of it. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a 2nd job at Target in October/November, shortly before Xmas so I should be able to really cash in on all the end of the year deals.

Got Legacy of Kain Defiance (PS2) for $9.98 at the Easton Target in Columbus OH. Also saw MTX Mototrax and Backyard Wrestling for 14.98. VF4 evolution and spawn were 9.98

Well I went to Target today, pretty much just more of the same... "buy our old ps2 fighting games for $9.98" plus some other games already listed above.

Included Tekken, VF4 & MK... only ps2 games though, not a single GC or Xbox game was on clearance today. They had an awful lot stockpiled over there though, I hope they do the other systems soon.

I picked up virtua fighter 4:evo for $9.98 too. There were 4 or 5 of them left at the target in Rosemead, CA (the one off the fwy10).

They also had a couple of mobile light force 2 for $3.24 on the bottom of the display case.

Castlevania LOI was tagged with a white sticker for $29.99, but rang up at $9.98. I also picked up 2 wireless adapters for $39.98 each.

Target on Atlantic in Long Beach still has their wireless adapter for $55.98.

that's a mighty fine user name... PS why does Target hate GC? Honestly, I'm hoping that they do a big GC clearance next as they seem to be getting rid of a lot of PS2 games right now. I think I found what could possibly be the clearance game section of my local Target. There is a section next to the systems and their accessories that has a bunch of GH and PH Xbox, GameCube, and PS 1 and 2 titles. Some are marked with a red clearance tag, and everything else has no price. Need to do some scanning next time I go...

They have a big load of Apex 20" flat screen TVs on clearance here (they keep getting more and more each day, from what I was told) for $100. Also, there are various shelves throughout the store with clearance items like storage containers, mini fridges/freezers, DVDs and games.

The newest game on clearance I saw there today was one copy of Winning Eleven 7 (PS2) for $14.99. Looked interesting, so I got it. Probably will give it to my cousins, since they love sports. Found it by chance in the action figure aisle next to a WWE Kurt Angle wrestling figure that was opened and chewed up (literally).

I asked an employee once how much it costs, but the employee scanned it with his gun and said it doesn't even say they sell it(usually it shows the last sale price). So the guy asks his manager and the manager has no clue but says he can't sell it. So a few weeks later its still there on the shelf. I ask another guy how much it is just because I'm curious and want to know what I'd get it for. The guy has no clue nor does anyone at their guest service counter where he told me to go to. So I decide to say screw it and just leave. Anyway, the starter kit is still there and every time I go to Target the cheapass in me wants to get it but I don't feel like dealing with the employees there anymore(I don't really need the kit, my subscription ends in November, but I have another year free due to winning a year with splinter cell). So, just out of curiosity does anyone know how much most stores would be selling this for now?

If it's not in their system (scans at 0.00) then the policy is to sell it for 50% of the last marked price. If it has no price tag on it, then I'd say they'd probably take the price of the existing XBL kits that are in their system and take 50% off that. Try to talk to a store manager or the cashier manager if you really want it.

Something that old, the LRTs won't even pick it up, it'll scan 0.00 on there as well. I had this problem with TMNT game that went out of their system. I had it scanned by an LRT and register, 0.00 on both, so the front end manager took 50% off last marked price which was $14.98, so I got it for $7.49.
