I'm looking to buy a surround sound system for my dorm room next year (excessive, I know) and I'm not having that much luck finding one with the things I want. Hopefully some of you guys know more about them and can point me in the right direction.

things I want:
-300 or under in price
-decent wattage
-primarily for music but also would be used for 360 and dvds
- want to be able to hook my laptop up to it to play music easily (being able to play music and movies off an external hdd would be great)

My big goal is to be able to have it hooked up to my 360 and laptop for music at the same time. Any help you guys can give me would be appreciated

For a dorm, why surround? Just get two nice speakers and a cheap receiver. You don't even need a sub. You won't be able to have much bass anyway, unless you get a careless RA.

For the laptop, you'll probably wanna get a PCMCIA sound card with optical out.

This is my second year in the dorms (my school requires two years) and I know the setup where I'm living so it's not a problem of being too loud. I'll look into that sound card but the logitech speakers are exactly what I'm trying to avoid. I'm looking for one with a dedicated receiver (i have a cheaper version of those logitech ones already)
