I have a felling (thought it may be wrong) that by Christmas we'll see a different offering from Nintendo in regards to the Wii system + content. I've put together a little list for a poll here and just thought it would be fun to see what others thought would be coming down the line.

Regardless of when, what do you think the next retail bundle for the system will be?

A) Wii Sports only (i.e., status quo)
B) Wii Sports + extra controller(s)
C) Wii Sports + Wii Play + extra remote/nunchuk combo
D) Wii Fit + Balance Board
E) Classic Gamer Set (Classic controller and 4000 Wii Points)
F) Core System (no game--system + controller combo)
G) Other (Post what you think it might be)

Despite my thiniking that Christmas will see a revised package, I think that Wii Fit will be the next real bundle.

honestly, i see the wii selling as it is -with wii sports

if for some reason they stop, i won't be surprised, i think it was supposed to be a certain amount of copies anyway

Nintendo should keep Wii Sports. It really helps sell other games with most people. It gives a general idea of motions and gets the player familar with the controls.

I think Wii Fit will be the next bundle, as an alternative to the current package with Sports, not replacing it. It'll appeal to the market too lazy to get a gym membership.

Further down the line when sales decrease, I could see a core without Wii Sports. That would take awhile since there no signs of sales dropping. Then when they did that, they could package Wii Sports with a Remote ala Play.

Nintendo will sell Wii Sports with the Wii for a long time. I might be wrong, but I don't think the big N ever sold the "toaster" version of the NES by itself, and their marketing for the Wii seems to be following their NES business model.

However, I would not be suprised to see the "Wii Power Set", with balance board, Wii zapper and a copy of the Wii Fit / Wii Sports / Wii Shooting combo disc!

I'd think that they would keep the same wii sports bundle and probably drop the price down to $200. I could also see them making a wii fit bundle (including wii sports) for $250 or around that. Both seem plausible to me.

I think Wii sports for a long time. Perhaps next year (I assume after the holidays this year demand will began to die down) they may throw in that zapper thing/duck hunt or whatever game it's coming with for the $20 (if they announced the specific game feel free to correct me) in addition.

Wii fit may work in Japan, but I really don't think it will be that big a hit here.

I said stay as is.

Right now the Wii is still selling out, I have never seen one in a store, so why change the package? They can get more made by just continueing what they are doing faster.

If they do anythnig I see it with Wii Fit + Balance Board, but I doubt that. The board looks bigger than the Wii box itself.

I dont see this happening anytime soon. They like having one SKU.

Now the retail stores, they'll continue bundling, particularly online, well into next year, as the shortage of great ridiculousness continues.

Hopefully they keep the configuration the same and actually drop the price when they drop the price, as opposed to other not so real price drops we've had lately.

It will probably stay the same but maybe they will do what nintendo is known to do, change the color of the console. Im pulling for orange spice :D

I didn't have one till I got the "core" system and Mario 3 (separately, not inlcued with the system) for Christmas.

I hadn't thought of bundling that all together. That'd be quite the pacakge!

I wiki'd nes bundles after posting that.... D'oh!

It would be interesting in about 5 years to compare the marketing of the NES and Wii to see if there are any striking similarities.

Couple scenarios:

I can see Wii Fit being a separate bundle, though having multiple SKUs would be sad with the way this gen is going (at least the console is the same ).

As long as its selling out, there won't be any changes to the current bundle. Depending on MS price drops, I could see them either keeping the Wii Sports bundle as is, and drop it to $200 to compete, if need be, or add a second controller set in when demand starts to lag (if the 360 is still more expensive to make the $250 price point feasible).

I think Nintendo will probably take out Wii Sports...

Since most casual gamers want a Wii for Wii Sports, that's a extra $50 they can make in revenue if they sell the system and game separately.

Yeah, Nintendo can do a lot of things, but I think Wii Sports is the perfect pack in and it sells people. Granny needs to be able to bowl, not break her stupid old fucking ass on a balance board.
Like Botticus said, there's a lot they can do with the Wii Sports package. The great thing is they could price cut the system RIGHT NOW and still only lose 20 bucks a system. Costs of manufacture will only drop in the future.

I think Nintendo could lower the price to $200 and still make a little money.

There were rumours the system cost about $150-$160 to make according to 3rd parties. The controllers sell for $60 for both, that's $220 tops, but obviously the controllers don't cost that much to make. So Nintendo at $200 might still make money, like a buck but still. :)

I hope they release something like they did back on the SNES (SNES+Mario World+2 controllers) and Gamecube (GC+Mario Kart+2 controllers...saw it at Best Buy)

Wii System w/ Wii Sports, Wii Play, and Wii Fit along with 2 Wii-motes, nunchucks, and if they're generous enough: 2 classic controllers

I'd pay $350 for it..maybe $400 since they're giving away alot, but hell with it, just my imagination :D

I think raising the price would be a bad idea no matter how many pack-ins they add. They are better off just lowering the current package to $200 and maybe throwing in the balance board to nail there casual gaming market even more. Either way it is a "Meh" for me. I already have a Wii and unless they pull a Wii 2 with HD I could care less.

I can see two different pack ins. A Wii Fit + board and also a different package with a Wii Sports pack in (maybe add the zapper and Nintendo's "software")

I can definitely see a Wii Fit and Sports package happening. Do we know when Wii Fit is coming out? Assuming Fit is $50 at retail(?), they could do a holiday $300 bundle with the system, Wii Sports, and Wii fit. Maybe toss in a few free game downloads just for the hell of it, too!

I don't see how they could possibly take out Wii Sports. That game IS the Wii as of now for most people.

I voted for simply the Wii alone, but in retrospect I think continuing bundling it with Wii Sports is morelikely than jsut the core system, and both are more likely than a Wii Fit bundle.

I'm sure Nintendo knows that including Wii Sports was a major selling point for most people, and they will always have a game bundled with the Wii. That game may change over time, but I doubt we'll see a Wii without a game (and I'm sure Nintendo will continue to bundle games with their future systems).
