View Full Version : Extra Controller

I think my wife is finally ready for an extra controller for the Wii. She got really worked up playing Wii Sports (boxing) and I could easily see us finally playing together.

I know Wii Play comes with an extra Wii-Mote ($49) and then I gotta spend another $20 for the numchuck?

Spending an extra $60 for a remote when there are so few two player games for the Wii just doesn't seem worth it.

*scratches head*

Big Brain
Bust A Move Bash
Cars
Elebits
Excite Truck
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
Happy Feet
Madden 07/08
Mario Party 8
Marvel Ultimate Alliance
Metal Slug Anthology
MK: Armageddon
Need For Speed: Carbon
Pokemon: Battle Revolution
Rampage: Total Destruction
Rayman Raving Rabbids
Red Steel
Sims 2 Pets (I'm assuming)
Spongebob Squarepants: Creature from the Krusty Krab
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz
Super Swing Golf
Surf's Up
Tiger Woods 07/08
Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam
WarioWare: Smooth Moves
Wii Play
Wii Sports

..but I could totally see your point about the lack of games with a 2 player mode.

Well said.

The Wii is known for party games and the 360 is known for action adventure games.

No one's gonna bite?

Okay, I will... what's a numchuck?

Nunchuck. As if the addition of an "m" due to a type changes the intent of the word.

Excite truck and Mario party are about the only "games" I could probably interest my wife in.

It would seem though there is no discussion of wii controller deals, as it is more entertaining to mock the OP.

If I were getting an extra controller I'd get Wii Play. There's bound to be a 2 player game in there you can play with your wife.

You did not do that great a job of telling us what to talk about. The question mark after nu(n/m)chuck was probably the key bit, but the wording of your sentence left a lot of doubt in my mind (hence my earlier post).

But even if I but Wii Play, there is still an extra $20 for a numchuck that I need to spend, right? Isn't there a cheaper bundle?

You don't necessarily need a 2nd nunchuck. Depends on the multiplayer games you want to play. Many of them only use extra remotes. You did mention Wii Sports boxing though, and that does require a 2nd nunchuck.

I'm still not sure what you are asking. Are you asking if there are any cheaper bundles? There aren't any bundles or anything out there that bundle remotes and nunchucks. I think someone posted a bundle that had a nunchuck, remote and classic controller, but I don't know if there was any savings.

Or are you asking if you should spend $40 for an extra remote, $50 for a remote + Wii Play, $60 for a remote + nunchuck or $70 for a remote + Wii Play + nunchuck?

If that's the question, no one can answer that but you.

Get Big Brain Academy. The multiplayer stuff on there is fantastic. Not only has it taken over Halo 2 as the party game of choice among my friends, but even my family is playing it. My GRANDMA who's 86 years old was playing it, I kid you not, and she flat kicked ass in some of the stuff. Not so good at the memory ones though.

At our family's 4th of July party (and my family is huge, I have close to 100 cousins) the Karaoke machine was broken so they asked me to grab my Wii from my house. I grabbed Wii Sports, Wii Play, and Big Brain Academy. Big Brain was the hit of the party. We played it from 6:00PM to 4:00AM. Most of the adults skipped the fireworks to continue playing it.

Thanks. All I really wanted to know was if there was any sort of Wii Controler bundles.

Wouldn't it be cool if there was a specific forum for requesting video game deals?

It could be called, I dunno, something like "Request a Video Game Deal".

Yeah, right! Like that'll ever happen.

I had considered placing this thread there, but upon reflection that I was asking about a peripheral and not technically a video game.

There are only two controller bundles. Wii Play with a Wiimote and a triple pack at Costco and Sams Club (Wiimote, Nunchuck, Classic Controller). I dont know if the triple packs are any special deal in terms of price.

I dont know if the triple packs are any special deal in terms of price.I think they're in the $70s, at least the ones I've seen. So it saves you a few bucks off of the $80 MSRP.

The OP kinda needs a nunchuck tho, cos he mentioned that his wife likes WiiSports Boxing.

I'd get WiiPlay and a nunchuck for $70. That $10 more than a mote+chuck but your getting a game with it.

I wish I could get my wife into playing Wii. She thinks its too kiddy. Seriously, my Wife has shown more interest in my 360, which Ive had for a month, than in my Wii, which Ive had since launch.

I'd recommend getting WiiPlay. It's just $10 more than a remote. Plus Tanks is really fun (even if you play one player).
Wait to buy the extra nunchuk if you don't have enough cash. Later you can pick one up and think how your only paying $20 and have forgotten about buying WiiPlay.

I still only have one remote and unfortunately my wife only tried Wii Sports one time when I bought the Wii in January. Congrats on getting your wife to play.

I managed to get a Wiimote and nunchuck off Ebay for $45 total including shipping. I even got another set for $45 off a CAG member just a few days back. Just gotta search for good deals and granted I'm still waiting for all of them to arrive.
