Kojima then closed his presentation with a trailer for Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Plus, an expansion to the well-received PlayStation Portable game Portable Ops. The add-on will feature new characters, numerous missions, new gameplay and modes, tutorials for beginners, and a new single-player mode. The trailer also hinted that there are some other additions that are being kept secret for the time being.
Portable Ops Plus is slated for release in Japan on September 20, the same date as the new, video-out PSP. The game will be available in two versions: an à la carte version with just the expansion for 2,400 yen ($20), and a deluxe package that includes the original Portable Ops for 4,300 yen ($35). No North American or European release information has been made available.
IGN has the trailer (http://media.psp.ign.com/media/950/950630/vid_2060391.html) up, which looks very awesome. Raiden and Old Snake as new characters?! MGO stages from Subsistence for MPO?! at the ending.
Just in case you cannot tell, this is indeed an expansion pack, meaning you will need original to play with the new content Plus provides.

dosn't look like too much of new things, but the game is superb. They finally added the ability to play as campbell like I wanted.

From IGN's page (http://psp.ign.com/objects/950/950630.html):
This expansion pack requires the full version of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (http://psp.ign.com/objects/783/783630.html) to play.
It seems that it's really an expansion, meaning you'll need the game to play the expansion's contents.

Nice, hopefully they bring it over here, I'd pick it up for under $20.00. Maybe we could resurrect the CAG clan or whatever we had going for it.

how will the expansion work if you need the original? I know of only one game out there that is multi UMD.

We don't know the specifics yet, but it's not an online download. It's a retail product, so maybe it relies on a save from MPO or something of great technicality. Just wait until next week (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3161383) and there's sure to be more info at the Metal Gear Anniversary Party.

That would kick all sorts of ass. MGA2 is one of the best PSP games.

Hmmm I can imagine it now... MGA3 would have party members, like MGS:PO,
and the whole cards thing would be scrapped to make wave for online
playability and have "Mario RPG"-like attack system.(ie timing button presses
to deal damage)

no offense but "boooooo!!!"
MGA kicked ass because of the cards.

When I first heard about this I was kind of pissed because I thought it was like the re-releases of MG2 & MG3 where it doesn't register your save from the first game and stuff. Plus I had just bought PO. But an expansion sounds pretty damn awsome. I can't wait for this. Maybe it will bring back the online, cause there is too many hacks and cheaters.

October and November's going to be busy months for the PSP. There's MPO Plus, Castlevania, Final Fantasy Tactics, Disgaea, and a few other good games on the way.
looks like you dont need the original to play it.

Any updates on this? I hear conflicting reports that say it's an expansion only, while others say its a re-release w/ extras.

It's an expansion. That's why the JPN deluxe version includes both discs.
Any release date on DGN 2?

Has anyone picked this up? I'm debating whether to get it or not. Just want some feedback if it's worth the $20.

from what I understand, it's jus a bunch of stages...
kinda like how in MPO u play a bunch of missions/stages framed by a story, this game has no story.
I am broke at the moment... but I wanna get this soon.

I don't mind if there's no story, played the first game enough. I'm just wondering if the online portion is strong and if the content they added is fun enough. I might get this and Tekken PSP at CC for $30.

I'll probably pick it up as well, as I need some new stuff to get back into it. I haven't played since November 2006 when I was waiting in line for my Wii, after that it's been collecting dust.

Its pretty fun online with new characters, new modes, and new maps. And very addicting to go around catching soldiers. For those of you who have the old MGS:PO save, the new PO+ will import them. However, if that character was hacked, I think it will either nerf them down to normal stats or wont import them at all. Right now I'm trying to get though extreme difficulty on Infinity Mode and trying to capture some Genomes for my rainbow genome squad.
