Final Fantasy 8 on ps3

I heard somewhere this game didnt work on ps3 and then on the playstaion web site it details some issues. Does it completely not work or can it still be played?

It loaded up and played fine from Ultimecia's castle, final battle went well.

I did notice one problem, the ending FMV after you defeat Ultimecia skips every 5 or 10 seconds.

However, I did try another FFVIII set I had, discs were kinda beat up, and it hung when I tried to load another save I had on the 4th Disc. I don't know if it was the disks, but I found that odd as well.

I have yet to play the whole game through, which I'll probably do in the near future, but as far as issues with the game, that's what I've come across so far.

thanks i have been dying to play this again recently and i am buying a copy on ebay and i just wanna know if it will be playable. If anyone else has any info it would be great.


p.s. for some reason alot of the great old square games dont work right according to playstation.com

hope you aren't paying much on ebay for it - amazon.com still has new copies of it for 19.99

anyway, can anyoneone test this for me someone on gamfaqs told me it worked well for them and looks great upscaled but we all know how trustworthy they are

Loaded up for me. But I only played the first 10 minutes or so. Opening FMV was flawless though. My discs are in perfect condition.
