the PS2 guitars do not, as of right now, work on the PS3. nyko was in the process of making a pass-through adapter for use on the PS3 but it was "delayed"... as far as the future PS3 guitar being able to play this, (afaik) i don't see why not as long as there's backwards compatibility for this... after all, the guitar controller is mostly a reshaped controller.

If it's like previous GC w/purchase promotions, it'll either knock the value of the GC off the item's cost or it'll force you to return GC + item when you return the game.

I wouldn't plan on keeping the GC if you don't plan on keeping the game.

To everyone complaining about shipping: as long as you can do in-store pickup, just switch the wristband to in-store pickup and you'll get free shipping for everything. I switched the wristband and game to in-store, since I don't trust Best Buy's shipping to get anything to me in the next 3 weeks. My guess is it comes faster. The summer entertainment thing definitely totals faster than the points, so my guess is the the certificate comes faster, too.

UGH, my store just called me and said despite the fact I got the email saying to come pick up the wristband, they no longer HAVE any wristbands and they won't be getting any more.

Of course they're totally clueless as to how to revert the status away from "ready to pick up" and her helpful explaination was to just wait 8 days and it will automatically cancel out of the order. Which of course is NOT what I want.

I hate dealing with bb.com customer service, this should be a blast trying to straighten out... :/

They only distribute 50 forms, so if you get the form, you're in, but you gotta remember to follow through-- which seems like most don't, since a lot of games I get the forms for only have 4-5 user reviews (if even that many) by the time they disappear.

Thing is, with this deal and Pricegrabber, as long as you buy stuff regularly at Best Buy (To use the gift card) it's a $25 title on Tuesday and a $20 title in a month or so when your rebate check shows up. I haven't seen GH1 or 2 any cheaper than $39.99 except with occasional deals since release.

Unless it sells very poorly -- which it very well may at the $50 price, look at how many people said "I was going to skip it until this deal" (Self included) -- I doubt you'll be able to find it any cheaper for a while.

That said, look at how well the stupid song packs are selling on the 360 and you can see that this will probably sell just fine...

And as mentioned before in this thread: if I select only the game + gift card, its free shipping on everything. If i select game + GC + wristband, suddenly its $2.50 to ship it. It's like a 20+ min drive to BB for me, so I just axed the wristband, it wasn't worth the hassle.

In my experience, you don't need the email, just the order number written down. I remember wondering the same thing, but I suppose they couldn't just assume that everybody has a working printer (especially since they're shopping at Best Buy ;)).

No offense, but hopefully never. Who exactly on the punk rock scene could be considered a "guitar hero" aside from Ron Asheton and Johnny Ramone (both who get points ONLY for influence)?

Im not a huge fan of this tracklist myself, but they touched base with at least some of the talented bands. Punk generally is the least talented music guitar wise, and a lot of the progessions are way too similar. Not saying you shouldnt like it or want it in guitar hero, but it certainly wouldn't be any "better" than the one they just put out. It might sell, but at this point I think they could slap on 30 tracks from Hanson and Culture Club and have it sell pretty well.


As for those buying it - I beat the game in about two hours on a single difficulty. Definitely not up to par with the previous two games - a decent number of the songs are boring to play with very hard solos mixed in. Worth $25-40 to me, but for those of you that aren't really hardcore into the game, its worth it to reconsider. Although, you might not see a deal on this game for a long while.

Like I'm going to drive up to some random address like an hour away, knock on the door, pray they are home and ask if I could just go through their mail for a second. I had the old shipping addy on there, but when I ordered I had to update my CC info, which includes billing addy. I input my new addy and selected "Shipping same as billing"

Still shipped to wrong addy, BB CSR was worthless, same stupid ass suggestion "go to the old addy and wait for the package" yeah cause Ilike I have all day to stalk my old apt...

So what is the ultimate solution? I called back and was told I could call on August 1 and they would send me out another copy (August 1 is the last day of their "delivery window"). It sucks waiting that long - I'm inclined to buy a copy tonight and then just return the one BB eventually ships.

While that sounds nice in theory, you can't honestly expect someone to turn down free money for the benefit of strangers on the internet, can you? It's not like this game will be rare or anything either - there will be plenty of copies to go around.

I just can't fault someone for taking advantage of a situation that they are presented with - although if there were 10 copies of a game left at a store and the guy in front of me bought them all and started selling them for double right outside I'd want to punch him in the balls...

Their price match policy doesn't include 'bundles'. They will pricematch the website. And they are incredibly inconsistent about when to apply the policy.

Best I can suggest would be to go to a different BB and you may get a different answer...

I think you guys read the ad wrong. I'm sure if you show the ad to the clerk they will give you the $15 GC. By saying must be purchased on same receipt it means getting both the GC and the game and not coming back later to get the GC.

Best Buy is taking a calculated risk. They believe selling the game at cost or slightly below cost will generate more traffic into their store on items with a higher margin.

Please remember that most PS2 games sell for $40 MSRP. The cost to a large store such as Best Buy is $30-35.

The ad seems pretty clear to me it's a "buy both, get the card free".. it says "WHEN YOU BUY THESE GUITAR HERO GAMES FOR PS2*", not "EITHER OF THESE"... it's similar wording to when they have "Buy this DVD get this one for $5" or something. The fact it's not being matched in store indicates it's a separate deal...

Yes, I double/triple check each time I purchase online. True CAGs don't make silly mistake like that. The CSR fellow told me it showed pending points on his end but nothing showed on my end when he logged into my account. That's when he told me to wait 48Hrs for the update.

I picked the game up using in-store today. My girlfriend and I played through it this afternoon. We both really enjoyed it. Growing up through the 80s helps a lot with this game due to nostalgia purposes. The track list is much better than I expected. I'm not disappointed with it at all.

Best Buy is run by a bunch of idiots. They shipped my order to the wrong address. I called as soon as I got the confirmation email and it was already "too late" and they suggested I contact the person at the address they shipped it to. WTF kind of retarded solution is that? I asked the CSR for some suggestions on how to go about doing that and sahe told me to drive there. Seriously. Like I'm going to drive up to some random address like an hour away, knock on the door, pray they are home and ask if I could just go through their mail for a second. Now I have to call my credit card company and get them to reverse the charge. What a pain in the ass.
Apparently they don't match the billing address to the card being charged. I realized the billing address I had on file was my old address, and the shipping address was to my parents' (after I placed the order, of course). With most online retailers, this will cancel the order automatically, but not here.
No harm for me, but obviously this is going to screw a lot of people. That really sucks, javeryh. I can't believe they'd suggest you contact the person currently living there. Hopefully you can get the charge reversed, but I could see Best Buy winning that argument.
