FYE has the 300 HD-DVD for $22.99 after rebate. Is that the best deal for this one?

The cheapest I've found it is 27.95 at amazon.com
I'd be interested in the cheapest one too. Along with Hot Fuzz. Both seem to run around the $30 line with a $39.99 retail price.
Moviestop beats the lowest nationally advertised price if you preorder it. That excludes walmart pricing but covers most other retailers. If you preorder it you get the lowest price and if for some reason it ISN'T the lowest price just bring proof in. Plus, if you trade in any 4 movies (major studios) you get 20 dollars towards the purchase.

That's not a given for the 4 for $20 credit, at least not at every store.
Target wil have it for $30 if I read the ad correctly.

I don't see how you guys can pay these high prices $20+ for a movie and still call yourself Cheap Ass Gamers :-)

Well, those with 1080p tv's and blu-ray/hd-dvd drives don't know how you can stand watching movies any other way. ;)

I haven't paid more than $12 for an HD movie. (well, $32 for the Matrix Trilogy)
I'm still as cheap as they come.

might wait until i can find a used copy at Rasputin...should be 12-13 that way after my Cal discount. Then again, my girlfriend might pressure me into getting it at release. Dunno what I'll do :p

It was an incorrect pre-order price. They MAY have it for $19.99 BRD and $24.99, as it seemed they were off by $10 on each. All the preorders were cancelled, tragically.

If you had a HDTV and an HD DVD player you would understand.

How about on Blu Ray?
Are the Best Buy prices even out yet?
Even $19.99 is a bit much in my opinion, especially with tax or shipping. Anything below $20 for the BRD version? I know the HD DVD also has the regular DVD version on it, so that is why it supposedly $5 more.

Hell, I'm watching on a 19" widescreen computer monitor and I don't understand how people with big screens/widescreens can pass it up.
The difference is amazing and it really feels like a cinematic experience.

i'll actually have to check out the price difference between HD and BRD on this one now that I think about it. Once I've watched it I'd like to be able to pass it off to my folks since they never saw it (tragically, they have the same 1080p TV as I do but only a DVD player that outputs 480p). If the combo-disc format is within a few bucks of BRD I'll go for that one.
HD DVD has online content and additional features that the blu-ray version don't. However, the movie is the same exact transfer.

It's looking like Target will be the best bet for it on BRD B&M, at $25. Unless Fry's comes in with a better price.

Just gotta wait for my local used music place to get it... $14.99 used once they get it in. My wallet gets used a lot at that place!
Just preordered mine at Moviestop on HD using four dvd's to knock 20 dollars off. Seems my local one is also doing a Midnight release.

Might be worth checking out by when my local Moviestop (St. Petersburg Fl.) asked me if I was coming at midnight I laughed. But then he told me they will be giving free food as well as an unadvertised buy 2 get 1 free sale on used items including HDdvd/Bluray movies. He also said they had other give aways and specials planned as well but they hadn't been given all the details yet, might be worth looking at.

Yup, it's a combo pack, so one side of the disc is the HD DVD, and the other side of the disc is the standard DVD.

Ridiculously high?
I paid 24 for mine and I don't consider that that bad since the 2 disc DVD goes for 22 on Amazon.
Just think of it like paying 2 dollars extra from the HD version.

actually now its free shipping. I just ordered it from buy.com for 19.99 after GCO. Probably as sweet as 300 is going to get.
For the first time ever, it paid off to pre order from FYE as I got my 300 HD DVD in the mail yesterday! What's amazing is that I ordered it on Thursday! Awesome movie, man. The extras are cool, the game is like an RTS type. The deleted scenes are cool, *POSSIBLE SPOILER* I wish they would have left the giant with the archers on there! 8-)

I ended up just getting it from Best Buy. It was $34.99 but I used the $15 gift card I got from the Guitar Hero deal on it. I wish they would start having new release HD-DVDs on sale the first week like standard DVDs.

300 and hot fuzz were both amazing hd dvd movies. The idiot at best buy asked why i wasnt buying the blu ray version of hot fuzz...( for those who dont know there is NO version on blu ray). I hate these idiots swaying people to blu ray. Hot fuzz is the first disc to get an overall rating of 5 stars on highdefdigest.com

Sweet, will have to pick it up soon then. I may just take a few other DVDs I could care less about and put towards it at MovieStop. An EB employee told me something about they give a tad more for movies, no idea how true that is...

I ordered mine from Amazon at the beginning of July and just got a confirmation email that it's not in stock and may not arrive until the end of August.

Had ordered from buy.com for 19.99. Received it a couple days ago and it was the standard def one. Still, buy.com was quick about getting me a return label. Unfortunately, I now have to wait for my HD 300 goodness.
