What brought you to sign up as a CAG?

What was it that brought you to cheapassgamer.com? Did you just happen upon it? Referral from a friend?

In my case I was doing a google search for information about the next gen consoles ( I think I was trying to get release date info so I could start bugging stores about reservations). One of the results I clicked on brought me to this site. I clicked on the thread I wanted to read and it said I had to be a member to read it. I signed up and the rest is history!

I joined a video game myspace group and someone mentioned this site.. I thought the name was cool came here for the "free stuff/contests forum".. got a free Ipod thanks to members on here..

it was a while before I really used the rest of the site though.. but the old EB morning update thread still makes me cry.

I saw a Letter posted in the EGM issue. I decided to check CAG out. I at the time wasn't too computer savy. I looked around CAG for a couple of days and liked what I saw. Signed up in Nov 2003 and was/is the only site I visit on a regular basis.

EGM article here also.The thing is there was like 2 other sites also listed....I went to them, and they were kind of like online stores....and the prices there weren't as cheap as the EGM article led to believe.

Cheapassgamer really was the one to stay up to date always,since it was community based, so.....here I am still after all these years still a CAGer!

This is actually kind of funny. I was at my local Circuit City and the cashier was bitching about a guy who had been in with a list of price-dropped games that he had gotten off a web site. I asked her what site and she actually told me. :) So there you go. I also recently checked CAG from one of their demo laptops while in the same store to verify the most recent clearence list. Then I left the page up... :) That damn store NEVER, and I mean NEVER, updates their game prices.

i did a search on videogames and saw the site listed on google and checked it out due to the weird name of the site. then i saw they had alisting for a sale at toys r us coming up where alot of games were goign to be cheap but to see the list of games you had to be a member so i joined up and got lucky on some deals and ive been here since and my game collection has quadrupled in a short amount of time.

its hard to think there was a time before all this you know and i remember reading peoples posts about not having time to play all the games they hadand i couldnt believe that could ever happen but yeah now i see why. you get so many games so cheap its hard to play them all especially when damn near every week another good great or awesome deal comes up and you end up buying more games lol.

I was actually searching Yahoo! for new content for My Yahoo! page that was about videogames and CAG was one of the listings so the day I added it then I joined the same day. Been loving it ever since.

Saw it mentioned in an angry-ish letter to EGM. Checked it out once or twice, then ignored it for some time.

Eventually came back after spending some time on gametz.com. Lurked for a while then finally got an account so I could get into the trading forum (the main reason I came here). Lurked for a while longer, then started posting regularly. Now I just swear at people. So far, nobody has noticed any difference.

It's funny, because I saw it mentioned in EGM, as well. Actually, I think it was in one of their "cool links" or whatever they called it, but I may be misremembering.

It was right around the time when my son was about to be, or was just born, so that makes it about mid-2003 or so. I didn't sign up, but watched the front page for a while, before life got to be super hectic. Then, I remembered the site in early 2005, and tried to remember my login; then it hit me: I wasn't sure if I ever made an account. So I finally decided to just sign up.
