the xbox 360 should be dropping in price by early august, according to a Microsoft rep I just spoke to. The price drop seems to be coinciding with the release of games like Madden 08 and Bioshock, not to mention the pending release of Halo 3 and GTA IV.

That is what I was thinking. Sales will probably increase marginally with the $50 price drop; it will not make a significant difference on sales. Additionally, you would think that with all the problems raping current 360 owners such as heatsink problems, that Microsoft would take notice and give potential buyers some leeway. If the new 35n chip was coming out in August, then the $50 price drop would be worth the purchase.

But, Halo 3 and GTAIV and Mass Effect and etc. etc. are upcoming releases, so I don't know if the meagre $50 drop is a revenue opitimization thing for Microsoft.

i got my ps3 for 450, was debating between the 360 and the ps3, ended up going for the more expensive route to avoid getting a faulty 360 and have to send it back and all that, plus i like my online gaming free
my friends have some 360s and they seem fine but i dont want to deal with the possibility

Well, $400 Canadian translates to about $380 US. We do get a free game (worth $60 US) with it so it kind of balances out.

I agree, the 360 and PSP are my two faves and we have every current console and handheld. The next six months are the golden age of the 360 IMO.

Although, other than Gears of War I find 360 games to be pretty ugly. Forza 2's race cars are horrible up close - the textures look like they came right out of MS Paint. Brutal. Compare to the Celica rally car in GT HD. GT HD looks way better than F2 damage or no.

I think by this time next year the 360 is going to look last gen. It is DC mark II. For the record I loved (and still love) the Dreamcast.
