So a friend and I are driving to a camera store to find a soft lens cloth for cleaning game discs and GBA screens. I'm waiting for traffic to pass, and I start mumbling "Get out of my way, you bitches, bitches, bitches, bitches...", and he continues, "and more bitches." "Not only that," I say, and proceed to play Mindless Self Indulgence on my iPod. (for those uninformed, Bitches is an MSI song) We're singing along with Clarissa, and as we pull in, these guys drive by us and scream out "$$$$$$!" right to my face.

I got really pissed. I'm straight, and it wasn't that being called gay was the thing that irked me. It's because the asshat called me a $$$$$$ because I was simply listening to MSI (whose frontman is extremely gay... the guy will stick stuff up his ass on stage... but the music's good!) with a friend of mine in the car.

It doesn't help that he's (edit: my friend) got the whole emo look going on.. long hair in the front, rainbow bracelets, eyeliner... the works... but seriously, what the fuck? It's shit like that that makes me want to fucking crack some skulls. How much more close minded can you fucking get?

End of rant. It's time for some Rallisport...

EDIT: Cheapy, really.. these filters aren't doing the site any good. Shaq-fu is getting really stupid... and now... E.T. in place of $$$-GOT? Give it a rest, will ya? Some words just need to be said. IMHO I think there should probably be more filters. Vulgarity posted in threads is not neccessary. I'm not saying that I'm innocent of this because I'm not. However I am conscious of it and try to refrain from using expletitives. Some CAG just get too carried away.

I am also aware that there are quite a few young members that I believe should not be exposed to such language. I have blocked this site for use for my 14yr old son because of the aforementioned.

I think that many parents will not let there children on this site for the same reason. I also think that many older people would use this site if they did not have to see some immature CAG spewing useless vulgarity in every other post.

Gamers span the generation gap. There are young and old and all of them should be given a opportunity to join CAG without having to see vulgar posts. The filters certainly don't take away the shock value of what their filtering, but it does seem a little less harsh for those that do not know what they mean or the parent reiewing the site to see if it's copesetic for their child or selves. IMO if a word is filtered it means that the head cheapness prefer we do not use it on HIS site. Since we have the privlege of being members of HIS site and reap the benefits, maybe we should humble ourselves a little and promote a little more civility and wholesomeness when posting to threads. If we project an image of CAG as bunch of snot nosed, vulgar mouthed, undisciplined, immature pissants, that's exactly what we will attract. We as privledged members must set the bar a little higher.

I sympathize with Red since I've been on the receiving end of verbal abuse before too. But I have to ask, what did you expect? You are aware of the type of world we live in right? As you said, you were singing a song associated with a flamboyantly gay frontman and, again as you said, your friend isn't exactly the poster child for testosterone. I think it's a bit unrealistic to NOT expect that sort of behavior to make itself known. Humans judge, especially when they don't understand what they see. If you are going to make your own path through life you'd better be prepared to field critisizm for it. Otherwise you will eventually conform to the ignorant status quo just because you couldn't handle the pressure.
