Some guy on the Vesti did it and I just tried it and it worked. Just go to Bestbuy.com and pre-order Halo 3 and you can ad a 1600 point card to your cart for $4.99. Well when it is in there just change the quantity to 3 (that is the highest it will let you go) and watch the price change from $4.99 to just under $15.00 for 4800 points! No, not in the slightest is $195 a good deal for 3 1600 points cards and 3 copies of Halo 3.

Edit - OK, I see that you ARE saying you can just get the cards. I don't get it. I still don't see how they won't just charge your card for the game and if you cancel they won't just charge you full price for the 1600 points cards (as detailed in the other thread on CAG).

Yes, that's what they were trying to say. I tried it and it does work. Just do the deal that we've all known about, then update the quantity to 3 on the cards and they ring up for $5 a piece. This is tempting, since I know I'll be getting Halo 3.

I'd be tempted if I didn't just get a load of cards from the CC deal (some of which were from Best Buy via PM).

I'd guess you could get about $50 for Halo 3 after fees on ebay the week of release. So you'd end up getting the 3 cards for about $25 - not too bad, but not too far off the $10 price I just got them for. And then there's the hassle of ebaying Halo 3 and shipping/worrying about being scammed. I guess I'll just stick with what I have ;).

Overall this is a pretty good deal I think, since I haven't gotten much of XBL yet, I think this is good for some of us who have hesitated on the good XBL games.

Great deal if you're going to pick up Halo 3 (and probably 40% of 360 users will be anyway) and don't want to wait for it to come in the mail preordering through liongames or familyvideo. This could also heal your wounds if you're being screwed over on the CC points deal. if you already preordered from liongames.com I would not recommend cancelling your order because if you just combine this with the cc 2 for 1 deal that is better. it should cost around 80 bucks for halo 3 and 3 cards. subtract the 45 that halo3 costs at liongames and that is 35 for three cards. so it ends up relatively being 11.67 a card versus 10 something at cc. plus we want to support the little guy not the big bad corporation.:lol:

I got the three red lights the other day and when I called Cust Service, they said 4-6 weeks because of the amount of 360s they were receiving since the expanded three red light warranty occurred.

Did you have to ask for the card? I was thinking about how I was getting a raw deal on losing a month or so of Live and wondering if they would make it up to me.

In the past, people who have received refurbs have not been able to use downloaded content unless they were online or they repurchased the content. I think people had to fight for credit to repurchase their items. You may want to look into that.

Why not just pre-order it now if you are afraid of the this deal ending. You can always cancel orders until the games is released, and even then you have 30 days to return it as long as you didnt open any of the items.

Well if you mean can you pick up the cards and change the location of the Halo 3 then its a yes... You just have to call them up (24 hour 1-888 #) and have them change it.

You can set the pick up location for each item individually. So just set the pick up for the cards at your local one and the pick up for halo to one near your new location. I bit on this. I really have no interest in halo 3 (I've played neither 1 or 2), but since it's effectively getting the game for $22 (since I would buy the cards for $20 each at some point anyway), I just couldn't pass it up. Here's hoping they don't try to fuck with me when I go to pick up the cards tomorrow.

Sigh, I probably shouldnt have changed it, but I was assured by a BB Customer Care rep that it would be fine. Here's the story:

I tried to switch my Halo3 (regular) to Halo 3 LE and it "broke" my promotion. I had already picked up my 3 point cards from my local BB.

Since the first rep had to cancel my order, it showed the Live Point cards as a return, so I got charged full price for the 3 Live Point Cards. I had to call them and open a case to get the proper credit.

The first email said I only got credited for $15 (one of the cards).

So I called back and opened another case and I got a second email saying:
"This promotion is not valid with the purchase of the limited edition Halo game."

But wait... here's the good part:

Update:

I got a credited for all 3 cards now, but somehow I made money off the deal and got the 3 cards for free, I think.

Previously, I got credited for 1 card (15.00). Now I got a credit for 47.29. If I'm doing my math correctly. I got back a total of $62.29 and I paid $61.13. Which is:
$1.16 in my favor.

I guess I will find out in a few days since it takes 72 business hours to show on the site from what the BB-CSR said.
