XBL point migration question-- tied to the console or gamertag?

Just wondering if my XBL points will transfer if I recover my gamertag on a new system.

Good question. I believe any unused points are part of your live account/membership and are portable. I think it's only the DRM of the actual downloaded games/media that are affected (meaning offline play gets messed up if you move consoles).

sweet. now I don't feel dumb for adding 6 point cards when I'm going to be exchanging my console for the falcon :)
