I'm interested in hearing what games or seris oor franchises they would never trade or sell. I know there will be some poeple whose opinion is "i never keep any games, they're always for sale" and others who say "my colection is mine forever, I will tkae them to the grave with me.
This is my personal list
Pretty much any nintendo first party character franchises (mario, dk, link, metroid, etc)
Pre PS2 final fantasies
Castlevania series

Let's see. A lot of my online FPS's are off limits. Rainbow Six 3, Ghost Recon: Island Thunder, Splinter Cell: Pandorra Tommorow, Socom 2, and Halo. There are a couple others like Animal Crossing and Earthbound that I won't give up as well.

For me, anything By Monolith Games. They let me beta test thier very first release, so ever since I've purchased every game the've made, haven't even played most of them.
Any Capcom or Snk fighting games, Any Id games, any Team Ninja games.
Also any Kaiju Games, no matter how terrible (Godzilla for GBA) I will gladly keep forever...

I generally trade games when they've lost their luster for me and only keep a few. Here's the few games I'll never get rid of:
TG-16: Exile
PS1: SOTN, FF Tactics
PC: Fallout, Fallout 2
Even these will most likely will be re-released in a collection or remade or something at some point, so I can't really say there's a game I won't get rid of under any circumstance. There's also a lot of games I own that I won't get rid of now, but wind up having sequels that make having the previous version somewhat useless, like Burnout, NBA Street, Dynasty Warriors, Age of Wonders, etc.

Zone of Enders 2, I don't see myself ever getting rid of that game, it was just jaw dropping on too many levels to ever part with.

Change that pre-PS2 to pre-PS1 and you got my FF list to keep. Also, the SNES Mega Man Xs are gold.

I don't usually get rid of my games, but I will take advantage of Gamerush's trade in deal to erase some of my mistakes such as Spec Ops and Legends of Wresting. In the cases of those two I looked at it like God was giving me another chance by allowing me to get rid of them for something better.
Anything with Mario or Zelda in the title is golden in my books.

before i started making really good money with my job....i sold my n64 with 30 games on ebay....paper mario included....i wish i wouldn't have done that, and i vow to never do it again...at least for a long long time
i keep every game i buy, even the crappy ones....if i ever sell it off one day, ill sell it in a big bundle, and the crappy games will add to how big the bundle is

Anything Mega Man. Don't care if I get it several times (such as with Mega Man Anniversary Collection). As it is I usually play through many of them once a year or so.

Any game that I have beaten all the way through. If I have spent enough time beating it 100% then it is worth keeping if only for the memories.
Well....
Halo, Crimson Skies, SSX 3, SSX Tricky, and Blood Omen 2.
Blood Omen 2 because it's the first next gen game I played and I was amazed with it. It's not really that great of a game but it brings back memories.
There are some games I wouldn't get rid of just because I know I couldn't really get anything good for them - Max Payne 1, Project Gotham 1, Amped 1, and NBA Live 2002.

Taking this in another direction Nintendo sure shouldn't have let Microsoft buy out Rare.

What has Rare done since? Grabbed by the Ghoulis? I think that's the only one I've heard of. And what do they have lined up? Kameo fairy game? Conker rehash? Perfect Dark 2 isn't scheduled to come out now til maybe XBOX 2. Now if they had stayed with Nintendo maybe it would've been different, but I've yet to see Rare do much to warrant a slashing towards the Big N.

If I deem a game worthy of staying in my collection, it never gets traded or given away. It stays put forever. Franchises that have zero chance of disappearing are the Final Fantasy, Mario, and Gran Turismo series, and probably any and all future GTA games.

I don't get rid of any games. If it's good, I want to keep it. If it's bad, I probably wouldn't get any good amount of money for it.

Games I'm very unlikely to part with.
Intelligent Qube: Very cool game, hard to find and mine is MINT.
Castlevania: SOTN and Chronicles. I really like both of them.
Final Fantasy Chronicles/Anthology: Both mint non-GH copies.
Suikoden II: I really need to say why?
Rez: The greatest expression of "games as art" conceived to date.
Gitaroo Man: I have yet to see one person keep a straight face I show it to.
I have a fantastic collection at this point but those are the ones that stand out with me.
