I just won some toys that are mint in the box and I dont want them to get smashed along the way. I have the option of UPS ground for $16 or USPS first class for $27. I am leaning towards UPS, but I was wondering what everything would be the best way to get it with minimal rough handling.

I think it will probably get used as a hacky sack either way. I think it more comes down to how much effort the seller puts into packing.

Honestly, It would depend on how the seller packages the toys. It won't matter which service you choose if the seller doesn't package the toys safely and securely. With that said, I would go with UPS Ground since it is usually faster than USPS first class mail and it is automatically insured.

Yeah, it more about the packing it than what method to send. I've been selling old Transformers toys lately and when packing the box, making sure there's about a inch of padding on each side. Haven't got a complaint about any arrived damaged yet.

I agree that its all about the packing job. USPS and UPS are about as reliable. FedEx is the only company who really goes out of their way to smash packages.
I'd go with UPS Ground if it were even money. And especially at the cheaper price. USPS will probably be faster if you live a bit away from the seller though.
If the seller packages sufficiently either service should get it to you without any breakage. If they don't, either will probably get it to you fucked up.
Not sure if it is worth the premium they are asking though and not sure they could ship it First Class since I am assuming the toys would be heavier than 13 ozs since they are charging $27+.
Since packages for USPS First Class have to be under 13 oz, there may be less of a chance of it getting damaged since it may be shipped with other light items. I have gotten a couple of damaged packages (including crushed games) from UPS in the last year or so.

I think I will go with UPS then. Hopefully the seller does a good job packing it. By the way, if you wright fragile on the box, with people even care to look at it?

Doubt it since to an employee it is just another box out of the hundreds. My friend used to work for UPS and told me horror stories about how late at night, him and other co-workers would take the smaller packages and use them as footballs to kick field goals in the warehouse.
Don't let that give you a bad impression of UPS though. It could have just been his warehouse and who knows what goes on at FedEx and USPS.
