I posted this a few months ago but never got too many replies so i'm back again. I need to get a private student loan sometime before this month ends. I already have my tuition taken care of through Fasfa (loans, grants, etc). I need more money to pay for my apartment and food money next year. Any suggestions on where I should look to get a private loan? The lowest interest rates (I know they vary but some places may typically be better than others) would be the best. Thanks!

From what my friend told me, you'll need to talk with your school's FA office and they'll help you with the process and have a list of recommended lenders who should be trustworthy. Also get a part time job if possible.

Pretty much any bank has additionl education loans, the problem is that they usually distribute directly to your school. So, if your tuition bill is paid, have more distributed to your account, and then request a refund. Then, stick it in the bank.
Just remember that it will be rolling about 7%-8% while your in school and onward, as long as the LIBOR rate doesn't increase, so you'll be paying more in the long-run. I guess if you need it(like me), you're kinda screwed into it. I have $20k+ in debt through KeyBank right now, not including the other loans I have from the gov't (Stafford etc.).
