View Full Version : Best Buy offering $60 Rock Band pre-order w/ accessories

Am I the only one worried that they'll still "accidentally" charge some of us for this? The fact that some are getting cancellation emails yet also receiving emails of release date changes kind of spooks me a bit..
I knew the chances were slim to none, but hey.. it should be a lesson to all retailers. Don't rush out a product offering for preorder to preempt competitors/guarantee riding the wave of a high demand new product if you can't get the correct product information. That's one funny about the game industry.. they sell preorders up to a full year in advance, with no idea of a concrete release date or product availabitlity (it's even worse with hardware).
Then again, it's Best Buy.. it's like the customer service of Buy.com, except you can feel shafted in a retail location instead of while sitting in your computer chair. Hell, at least with Buy.com.. you can take the bad news of third world customer service while sitting down :)

It's because your order is still active. They are probably going to give you a day to cancel it yourself before they do it for you.

I got the same thing, but it still shows the same SKU #. Assuming that is the bundle SKU, I am still a little giddy that the order is still there.
Of course, I expect them to cancel it within the next couple of days, so I suppose it probably doesn't matter.

Got the email too, but on my order status page, it says both my orders are still processing.

I called and am in the process of contacting best buy legal, etc. I fail to see how this "policy" does not violate some form of consumer law, either deceptive trade practices, bait and switch or something....
And on the plus side, I don't have much else going on right now, so I should be able to bug them about this for a good bit.

It's not deceptive/bait and switch as it was never shipped, it was a typo, and they are correcting it. It sucks but it's fully within their rights. You didn't even set foot in their store. And it's not like anyone had their order honored.
You don't have much of a chance of getting too much farther. They may throw you a slightly bigger GC to get you to go away but they may not.... this really isn't the deal to try to scream at them over, they actually went above and beyond what they legally needed to do giving a $5 coupon.

One of their web guys grabbed the wrong copy for the product. Let it go. Enjoy your $5 coupon.

Hey I'm happy with the result, all things considered. Although, I'm kind of bummed the coupon expires in two months. However, if anybody plans on making an order and wants it for like $3.00 the code is yours.
Edit: Will also trade for any small amount of microsoft points (like 100) And if I get no offers imperialzerg, you can have it for free

Just used my $5 coupon on Smaillville season 5 dvd, which is on sale for $19.99 this week. I did notice that during checkout that the coupon expires on 10/28/07. So to everyone that has one, use it before then.
