Not a terrible DOTD. Think I'll pass, though. But a step in the right direction.

I suck at racers, but good deal for those in need of a good one (or so I've heard)

Bloody awesome deal. It's a great racing game even if you don't like sims, Forza is really fun.

Not bad at all. Too bad I'm horrible at racing sims. I'll stick with my Burnout!

I'm with you, great DotD. But I'm horrible at racing sims. I always feel like the cars go slow and it seems like ANY turn makes me lose control of the car. Not fun :(

Sucking already? I can see it actually especially after that lame ass DLC release. I knew it was going to go down sometime after the release so oh well...

I'm with you there; if it was Dirt this would be a no brainer for me, however I'm still tempted to bite. I'll think about it while I'm at work today and see which side of the fence I fall on.

Whether or not you are good at sim racers, you can have a blast and beat the entire career mode without doing very many races yourself. This game lets you hire drivers (and you still get $ for the races they complete), so you can collect the cars, paint 'em, tinker with 'em and eventually get 'em all, even if you suck at racing games.

If I had money to spend, I'd totally jump on this.
I don't though and I don't particularly enjoy racing sims, so I'll come back around November when the release schedule dies down.

Amazing game, for those of you who can't steer, try using all of the aids. This game is awesome, especially with the MS wheel.

Great DOTD!!

Possibly the best sim racing game I've ever played. I kinda got it for 39.99 at release with the free 19.99 game deal at CC but if you don't have this yet, give it a shot. The demo is nowhere near as good as the full version.

Forgive my newbie-ness, but what exactly constitutes a racing sim? Is it similar to those sports management games where you have control over your team (in this case, your cars). And you earn money to tweak and upgrade?

Puffa469

Im in for one. Ive wanted this since it came out, but Im just too cheap to spend $60 on a game.

Since I'll probably never get a ps3, the GT series is basically dead to me, so I'll have to make due with this.

How does this compare with NFS:MW? That is the last racing game I bought and I love that style. Would I be happy with this?

So has anyone tried to price match the Amazon DOTD at CC ?

08-08-2007, 11:50 AM
Thanks OP! I'm in! I just can't bring myself to pay 59.99 for new games! I'm very glad I waited on this one.

Once fall arrives, It's going to be VERY hard to resist the new titles on day one -- Bioshock, Halo 3, I'm looking in your direction.

What the hell is the point of this post?

Price drop = game sucks?

That's if the price actually dropped and it wasn't just a sale.

Not sure why I'd want to not drive in a driving game.

Far as I can tell there are 3 brands of racing games out there

Total Arcade (ala Burnout)
Partial Arcade (ala PGR3)
Simulation (ala Forza)

I enjoy games in the first and second camp, but just can't get into Forza. It seems a lot of us really enjoy these sorts of games and feel practically guilty about not enjoying Forza (that is, we should enjoy Forza but just don't).

If you're into Burnout and feel guilty about not liking Forza, I recommend PGR3. Sure the load times are unbearable, but for about $20 used it's great fun and a great value.

Very different NFS:MW (which I really enjoyed) is pure acrade street racing, Forza is a racing sim so you have to drive the cars like you would in real life i.e. no taking corners at 120mph

The only similarity I suppose is in both games you have the ability to customise the cars, but in Forza 2 you have way more options with creating your own custom paint jobs and such.

They're very different games, if you're looking for another NFS I'd suggest NFS:Carbon (which I didn't like as much as Most Wanted) or Burnout Revenge.

Some cars feel like that because they are the starters and they are meant to go slow. Besides, if you use the arrows and you know, let up off the gas before turns and then power through them in like real life, it's much easier.

A lot of people are interested in Forza 2 more for the custom paint jobs than the actual racing. If you enjoy racing those endurance races rather than hiring a driver, that's your kinky business. :)

LOL. Were you trying to make a sharp turn at 60 mph? You can't do that in real life.

Learn to drive buddy.

On Amazon's main video game page, there's a "Deal of the Day" link on the upper righthand side.

Great time to drop a DOTD as once Madden hits this year its the start of the video game season and everyone will have a little less money for games.

Bioshock, Halo 3, and Rock Band...Oh My!

Yup i got it just for this aspect. The customizing is amazing graphics wise. I do some races here and there but i got it for this reason heh. Great DOTD but i missed the Free one day shipping by like 2 mintues.
