Yes, FV's plastic (non-padded) shipping sleeve kind of sucks but I'm not going to complain I'm getting Halo3 for $46 shipped. Atleast they will replace damaged copies or lost games.

They needed me to call a phone number and verify some contact information and immediately shipped it afterwards. Family Video is pretty lame if they don't even bother e-mailing you to at least manually greenlight your own order.

"Marked for review" doesn't always mean that necessarily. In the warehouse where I work, when an order is "marked for review" it's basically undergoing a finalization process. You know, being entered in the system, processed and what not. When it's "in fullfillment" it's usually being pulled, worked on and packaged. Shipping follows not long after. Family Video is a small chain of stores apparently, therefore it's no Best Buy or Walmart warehouse so that may be why their processing takes a little bit longer. I've ordered one game from there previously and after shipping I received it 2 - 3 days later. I'm expecting it tomorrow, though it could show up today but I'm not telling myself it will happen.

Either way I can't complain, I mean I paid $46 bucks for the regular edition.

Family Video is actually a pretty large chain. I used to work at a very small one called Panorama Video and Family Video put us out of business quick. It's kinda like Blockbuster Jr. only limited by the fact they're only in like 1/3 of the country, mainly the Midwest.

But being that they're not "smalltime" I don't understand how their online store is. The whole site's customer options are pisspoor (ie: no area to cancel an order). Those envelopes they ship the game in are a joke too. That must be what the 99 cents is going towards. ;)

There's no way to physically tell from your order- in the past, people have received their things from IL so people assume that's where the warehouse is located. To my knowledge I've never seen anyone claiming an order came from somewhere that wasn't IL, so there's a good chance yours is shipping from there as well, but I could be mistaken.

If you don't want to wait for Microsoft you might be able to use a DVD repair system. I've been using the Aleratec DVD/CD Disc Repair Plus (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002A9SJ2?ie=UTF8&tag=kingtractorfi-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B0002A9SJ2) that I just got to rebuff DVDs. So far I have done about 4 Gatchaman DVDs with scratches. First two came out fine the first time, the last two had to be put in twice.

I have no idea what size the BestBuy.com shipping box comes in...but I will give you the measurement (in inches) of the Family Video Box they shipped mine in. It was...

5 and 1/2 Tall, 9 Wide, and 6 deep.

Compared with the Halo 3 CE Tin Box which is...

1 and 1/4 or so Tall, 7 and 1/2 Wide, and 5 and 3/8 Deep

and there is plenty of space! Plus, it was surrounded in bubble wrap.

In short, good job FamilyVideo and for .99 cents no less!

Question to anyone that has the Collectors Edition....is that plastic sleeve on the outside of the case supposed to be a complete pain in the ass to slip on and off? I know it sounds like a stupid thing to complain about, but I have to struggle 10-20 seconds with it every time I want to open the tin. It's waaaay too tight.

Yeah. it's annoying, but it happens often with the games i buy. What i n ormally do is, put the game disc off into another jewel case (buy those cd or dvd cases from fry's or best buy and you got a disc holder for your game). Just put your collector's tin onto your bookshelf or something while keeping your disc on some other jewel case.

Received my LE yesterday. Standard shipping a day after its released must say I'm impressed by Family Video. I wasn't expecting it to arrive till Friday at the earliest. Great packaging but my game disc has two big scratches on it. Not Family Video's fault just Microsoft with there faulty packaging of the LE discs. Game works fine but I might play it for a bit then ask for a replacement before the deadline.

My Heavenly Sword was shipped out the 19th. My Halo was shipped out the 22nd, 3 days later.

If Halo's here, why is HS NOT?

Halo 3 has a "Time Sensitive Material" sticker on it. Now, I'm thinking maybe they slap that on there because it's Halo (hype, etc), and that sticker might not be on HS.
But even so, a sticker or not, this seems pretty odd it hasnt arrived, having an extra 3 days.

It's only 9 days, so I guess I need to chill out.
But I live in California, which is fairly close, and Halo took 5 days, and Persona 3 took 4...

There's no way to physically tell from your order- in the past, people have received their things from IL so people assume that's where the warehouse is located. To my knowledge I've never seen anyone claiming an order came from somewhere that wasn't IL, so there's a good chance yours is shipping from there as well, but I could be mistaken.
That's kind of annoying, I ordered mine last weekend, shipped the 25th and still hasn't arrived yet. I know I chose .99 shipping, but I live in IL. so I assume it would have shipped from there. Well, I haven't lost faith in them quite yet, and I suppose I could be angrier about the whole situation. The truth is that I'm not the BIGGEST fan in the world when it comes to Halo, so I don't mind the wait. If I was, I probably would have ordered instead from amazon. I'm just upset that I paid $50 for something and it shows up with no disc. And I'm worried because FamilyVideo seems like a small business that won't want to deal with something like this (i.e., they think I'm lying). Crazy. I got mine the day after release (they shipped the Saturday before release). It was the CE, and I was expecting crappy packing from what I've read and all. It came in a box, and had plenty of padding, so needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised. Of course, the discs were fairly scratched due to the case manufacturers' fault, but hey, I'm pretty happy with FV on the whole.

Wow, you still didn't get Heavenly Sword? That's not good. Chances are it got lost in the mail. That almost happened to my Halo copy. The copy of Halo 3 that showed up today was in a package that was all shredded. The torn envelope was in a plastic bag and there was a letter from the post office INSIDE the Family Video package within their own bag. So that basically means Family Video's dinky little shipping package got torn open and the game was visible. The corner of the DVD case looks like somebody went to town with a chisel (time to swap it with my worthless Madden 06 case) I'm just glad the post office employee that dealt with it didn't decide to pocket my game.

Those idiots need to start using the padded bubble envelopes. A lot of people here had a standard experience, but I've seen too many instances of damaged packaging. I'd pay another buck for the shipping if that meant getting a more rigid package.

Ring them up (1-888-332-6843), reference your order number. Don't ask for a new copy right off. Find out if it shipped so you can decide if you should be polite or not. If it didn't, threaten to cancel and see how they handle it. If it did, tell them it's been too long and you are going to call your credit card company. They wouldn't have these kind of problems if they used tracking numbers.

Same here, it was a bubble padded envelope. The only thing is the game case does not close flush on the top and bottom (like a 3mm gap) as if it was maybe crushed a little in the mail but otherwise no problems.
Does anyone know of a good way to get that dumb RF ID tag or whatever off, the black square one? I took the small rectangle one off easy but the square one pulled off nasty and now it looks kinda like a mess, (I know I should have know better but it tricked me and looked like it might actually come off).
