My PS2 seems to run super hot around this time of the year, so much so that after 15-20 minutes it resets and shuts off so I was thinking about investing in a PS2 External Fan

has anyone gotten one/did it work for them/useful/etc?

Can't say that I've even seen one of those. Your situation makes me wonder if the internal fan of you PS2 is even working.

Yea I don't think it is, I just bought this PS2 like a couple weeks ago because I was like OMG PS2+ I must get it and I don't think the fan is even plugged in =( Might have to open it up and check but I don't wanna void the warranty

but then again it is like mad humid here and 90 degress but i thought not being able to finish 2 quarters in NFL 2k5 was a bit excessive

If you just bought it a couple weeks ago you should return it.

What area do you live in?

If you just bought it a couple weeks ago, then how do you know it runs hot this time of the year and not year round? I'd return that mofo.

Return it. If it is the fan, and u open the damn thing, you will never be able to get it fixed because u violated the warranty.

Oh because I had an old PS2 this time last year and same thing happened just not as excessive =(

I live in NJ yea I guess I'll just return it cause I looked at my older PS2 I have lying around and the fan on that actually spins when I turn it on compared to this one that doesn't

Thanks

The newer ones are quiter than the older ones.

But a fan that does not spin is a fan that does not work.

My PS2 never seems to run too hot.

Don't open it, that will void the warranty.

Instead, use a hot sharp knife to cut a nice big clean hole in the top for ventilation.

Its the same as taking off the side of your computer when it overheats.

Has it occurred to you that a device that increases the power load is unlikely to result in a net reduction in heat?

make sure nothing is blocking the fan vents.
