Yes, a little much.....I've seen people selling the UPC for around $30 or so though.

No because it doesnt mention the XBox360 HD DVD add-on. It only mentions the HD-A2, HD-A20, HD-A3 and HD-A30

I ahold of this deal via the best by thing. The toshiba A-3 player, came with 2 movies and the 5 movie deal. Not bad.....7 movies and player for $200.

Now I just hope the whole blu-ray HD-DvD thing either goes HD-DVD winning or players who do both formats wins out.

Promotional items are often defaced in some way .
Usually the barcode is marred , to keep people from returning them to a store .

They do not damage the product but like you said, they tamper with the barcode either by punching a hole through it, scratching it or putting a sticker over it.

People have been reporting this for months, and even the discs that I received were slashed...

One guy on avs filed a lawsuit and they immediately called him and gave him replacement discs..that's about the only way you're getting untouched cases.

I'm sure the BBB will care about your FREE rebate movies. The Customer Service has been top notch when I called. I may call again. There has been many delays with shipping, but they SHOULD eventually come.

Also Got U2: Rattle and Hum, Italian Job, Pitch Black, Swordfish and all were factory sealed, none had stickers over bar codes.

I'm thinking that perhaps they got a new company working on fulfilling these due to increased demand. Any thoughts???

The point of rebates is that they hope you either forget or they can claim it was lost in the mail or you won't argue if you're short-changed. The horror stories with FYE's rebates have to be the worst though.

I hope you made copies of the UPC and the filled out form...next up call the number on the rebate (found in the OP) tell them that you sent it, you know that they got it, you got the tracking number to prove it and go from there.

Some stores keep records based on your credit card or check purchases, I know Best Buy, Target, and Circuit City do, not sure about Walmart but worth a shot. Go back to the store you bought it from, take the card and the item back and see if they can find it and reprint you a receipt. Good luck!

I finally got my movies today after about 5 months T_T. The Univeral movies that I got (The Rundown and Riddick) weren't that bad, they had 1 branded line through the barcode, but that's about it. They weren't all mangled up despite the horror stories I've heard.

I got a letter on Saturday from the fine folks at Toshiba stating that they couldn't honor the deal (with TMNT). It says because the purchase date on the receipt (11/1/07) does not fall within the dates stated in the deal (10/1/07 ?? till sometime in 08.) WTF is up with this?! Should I call them and tell them they are morons?? Or should I send it back with a nasty letter? Lucky for me, they sent back the UPC, letter with deal and my copy of the sales receipt. Needless to say, I am pissed!

I've read of other people getting the same rejection letter even though they obviously had purchases within a vaild date. I think these rejections are going out to people who tried to send in the old offer sheet with TMNT and Syriana. Yes, I know it was still linked to on Sears' website with a new date range but some people still didn't trust it since all the "old" selections were on there and not the "new" ones linked to at the official HDDVD site) I have yet to receive a rejection notice, mailed it in about a month ago with the "new" sheet...just a theory...

Hey Linkin, can you post a picture of what the UPC looks like and how bad it is? I know they do so you don't go back to a store and get money off of it, but there are other ways to do this other then scratching out the upc :(

My 5 movies came in today. I mailed my form out in early September.

Of the 5, Constantine and Four Brothers are in perfect condition. U571 and The Chronicles of Riddick have small slashes across the barcode. Rundown had a long gash almost exactly like the one pictured above.

The reason it probably won't work used is you need the original UPC from the box. If you have that and a receipt specifiying the correct date of purchase than you should be fine.

Got the wondrous delay postcard for a rebate I sent back in [looks up Amazon HD order] September, since I got the drive in August. The Blu-Rays came in October... the HDs... not yet. Go figure.

The card did ask me if I didn't want to wait for my FREE ITEMS I could cancel. (HAHAHA). I guess I'll just wait for the estimated delivery of 1/20/08.

Edit: It look like LAYD and I are in the same boat. While I don't think there were as many "bad movies", it was a bit harder in the first wave since a lot of the stuff offered was not JUST HD.

I'll definitely be keeping Full Metal Jacket, especially since it's the new one which I wasn't expecting. I'm undecided on The Thing and Babel, although I'll probably keep them. I'll definitely be selling Firewall and Troy, though.

Most likely, they will just mail back what you mailed them.
Companies wouldnt even bother sending it back to you. They'll send you a card saying that you were missing something and to either fax them what was missing or thats it.

I mailed in my 360 add on stuff a few weeks after the Heroes sale too and when I called Toshiba they said they didn't even have me in the system yet. I just hope I don't screwed with the rumors that titles have been OOS and people are getting random movies. :/

Nope, they weren't substitutes; I just decided I didn't want them. When I was originally choosing which movies I wanted I had a hard time, because nothing aside from Full Metal Jacket looked good to me. So I ended up just picking movies that I had minor interest in, figuring I could just sell what I didn't really want. Sorry, I should clarified that.

Before yesterday I was definitely worried that I was going to get random movies, though, if I even got any movies at all. But I wanted to post here to let you guys who are still waiting know that not everyone is getting random movies, and that you have a good chance of getting what you ordered. Considering that they're even giving out the new Full Metal Jacket now, hopefully that means they've cleaned up their act.

I'm in the same boat as you. I called Toshiba about 3 weeks ago and the guy said my name was in the system (I only checked the one I sent to my house), it was apporoved, but he didn't know when they would be sent out. I figure it's going to be a while longer still.

I'm still waiting on my shipment as well, but at least I got a postcard saying it eithre arrive by the 20th or ship out on the 20th (couldn't understand what they meant on the postcard). I'll probably still be picking up some HD from sales, pricedrops and such, but I don't play to really dip my toe into Bluray any time soon. So far nothing I want that either I don't have on regular DVD (they pretty much look find to me, and fantastic in an upconverter) or that is out for it. I just want the Kubrick films that were released on HD last year.

I called in checking on two separate rebates (self and future-father-in-law) and both were received early november, processed mid-december, and will be mailing "very soon" according to the rep. Very helpful and speedy phone service. Shame, I doubt that calling Sony to check on a BD rebate would be as pain-free.

Actually when I did the BD one a few months back they were very helpfull on the phone and my movies arrived very quickly.

Funny thing is the same company does the rebates for both bluray and hd... I am sure on this because when checking for my hd movie status they said I already recieved my order and started naming off the bluray movies.

I got Frighteners, Hulk, Italian Job, Full Metal Jacket (remastered version) and Troy (director's cut).

All UPCS were in tact, although the Frighteners had a sticker over the UPC and the case was a little beat up.

I was suprised to see the newer versions of Troy and Full Metal Jacket as the older ones were the original titles offered.

At any rate, hopefully the rest of you CAGs that sent out around the same time and haven't received yours yet will get them soon!

It was a decent sized mailer, but it still fit in my mailbox (which is smaller than a basic one).

Also, there was no correspondence in the mailer, so it's possible they're sending them via media mail as well (no postage anywhere on the mailer that I could see so I can't say that for sure though).

Ok I resent mine out today. My previous was returned to sender because I didn't have enough postage ( Took 2 months for them to send it back Arghhh! ). This time I tossed 3 stamps on it. No way it's coming back again :)
