I just peeled off the entire sticker and stuck it to a piece of paper and mailed it.

And I chose:

Apollo 13 - (Can't go wrong, haven't seen it since I was little)
Constantine (watched it at my friend's house the other day, great movie, though Casablanca competed for it)
Tomb Raider (Because I hate the other 2 options)
Blazing Saddles (heard it was good)
The Perfect Storm (I live right near Gloucester and my friend's family actually knew some of the people who were on that ship, and it was the only one in the group that I have heard of, so yeah)

I got mine in about 4 weeks.

FYI...all the universal films (u-571,rundown, riddick) I got had a ugly 2-3 inch gouge through the UPC/the case behind the UPC....it looks like they ran power router set at 1-mm depth through it ...so if you are really fussy about condition or thinking about giving one of these free movies as gift or pimpin' them off on Ebay, you might want to stay away from the universal films...the paramount and WB disks showed up in perfect condition

Yes, and they will send you $0.05. Just try calling them if there is a contact number. Did you put enough postage on your letter? Remeber, USPS rates went up.

I think you mailed it to the wrong offer. I think that address was for the Blu-ray offer, you need to mail it to the HD-DVD offer. They are both in El Paso. Recheck the address for the XBOX offer. It is for Dept X, not Summer Blu-Ray offer. Since you want HD-DVD's and not Blu-Ray movies.
Recheck before losing your cool. Hope that helps you out. I have sent out for both offers, and I have received the Blu-Rays so far, awaiting HD-DVD's now.

If anyone plans to re-sell these or just add them to your collections be warned - the UNIVERSAL titles come with huge solder iron burns across the barcode and part of the dvd case. Sort of a huge 'L' burned on the back of the disc.

I'll let you know soon dood. I should be getting my 360 add-on HD-DVD player today from amazon. I have only a component capable 360 myself and have no plans in the near future to upgrade. I really couldn't pass up the 8 free HD-DVD's + player deal though so went for it anyway. I hope even without HDMI it still looks pretty friggin' nice because I'm planning on picking up Transformers on HD when it's released. I'll def compare the picture quality to my PS3 Blu-Ray.

HD-DVD looks great with component, although a 26" LCD might not show much compared to a 60" TV...

Well, if you have a 1080p, the 1080p HD player would future proof you more. 1080i still looks great, but 1080p is slightly better, but maybe not to some. I have a PS3 for Blu-Ray through HDMI via 1080p and XBOX HD-DVD through component for 1080i. Both look very similiar, but I think the PS3 is slightly better. This is on a 60" 1080p TV though.

Still a nice deal with NINE free HD-DVD's.

I just called and they told me the order was in a "ready" status meaning they were on their way to shipping. They then said to allow another 3-4 weeks for shipping. I sent the offer in at the beginning of August, that will be 13-14 weeks to get these. That's just damn ridiculous, 3 1/2 months to fulfil an order. I understand they were free but come on, I got my Blu-rays from the sony deal in a little over 3 weeks.

Granted, the only reason I purchased the A30 model on 9/30/07 was the extra incentive to get two extra HD-DVD films in store.

But here's the thing. I purchased the player in full and got the receipt, but the player was not available in stores. I got an invoice that says the player is ready for pick-up on 10/05/07.

The rebate form does not reflect the A30, since it was a Gen 3 model that was not available when the original "Free 5" was made. It will, however, work fine.
You should quality for the second batch though if thats what the reciept says.

I think you mailed it to the wrong offer. I think that address was for the Blu-ray offer, you need to mail it to the HD-DVD offer. They are both in El Paso. Recheck the address for the XBOX offer. It is for Dept X, not Summer Blu-Ray offer. Since you want HD-DVD's and not Blu-Ray movies.

Our Bestbuy has not received their restock of Heroes. My wife went up there and ask about getting equal value merchandise and after putting up a good fight was able to get $99 worth of HD DVD instead of Heroes. She pick out 4 movies and had to pay the difference which was $10 and some change. Best buy actually gave her a gift card worth $108.xx which was $99 plus tax and then subtracted that from the $118 that the movies rang up at the register.

We got:
Xbox 360 HD drive
King Kong
6 movies at the store
5 movies via rebate (10 weeks from now!)

All for $204

Not too bad!

I just noticed that the Best Buy offer form requires a postmark date of 30 days from date of purchase.

I was planning on giving the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player for Christmas. I think it's best to use the Toshiba form.

I take it that the official Toshiba offer does not have an earlier postmark date than 3/31/2008.

You could get the envelope postmarked early right, and then just mail it later.

I called again last night. I sent this out on August 2nd, and the operator told me that my order most likely won't ship before Christmas! She commented that there was a huge backlog of orders and they were waiting for more dvds before they could send any out. I asked her about substituting, but she said they would not be substituting at this time. I just bought a second player from Wal-Mart, so I'm going to send out for 5 more (from my fiance's address). We'll see if I get the second shipment before the first!

I think you are allowed to send to the same address as they are two different promotions...different movies from the 1st 5 deal.

I'm waiting on my first go around, I already sent in for my second one also.

I've worked in rebate data entry, which ever form you use shouldn't matter if its the same offer(same address on the form) the form is only used to process the data, you could write all the information on a white sheet of paper and it would all go in the same. Basically what im saying is whichever form you use has no effect on your rebate, now which terms for the rebate are correct? That is something I have no idea about but yeah it usually does have to be postmarked 30 days within purchase typically for rebates in general.

I mailed mid- to late- August, got the same postcard others got, and they didn't switch any of my HD-DVDs. If there was a backlog like this on the 360 player induced mailings, I hate to see what happens with the A2/A3. I may end up getting subbed.

Also could someone be able to tell me which number on my Xbox 360 add-on is the serial number? Any help is great.

Rebate companies try their hardest to deny what you are owed. The whole postcard with an option to cancel your order? I'm sure people send it in signed and dated thinking its what they are supposed to do to get the movies.

I had the same issue, Fed EX put a huge sticker on top of the box, wich I don't know if thats were the UPC code was or not because once you peal the sticker off the entire box rips away...I am hoping the sticker with four codes on the side of the box is the right one becasue thats what I sent.

Yeah, you're good (I had another player for myself, which I've already sent the rebate form for). Anyway, I called the 800-number someone had posted previously in this thread (800-403-3103), and they told me to just send that section of the box, even if the UPS was obscured by the mailing label, and that would be okay. We'll see!

It should remove the label without any issues and won't damage/remove ink so the UPC should still be intact.

The problem is that the UPC itself is a sticker, with another sticker on top. Clearing the box won't help :). Thanks though.

Oh...my bad then, definately do not use Goo Gone. On a more positive note, I was able to call and change Casablanca for Constantine, they said that it would not cause an additional delay, I told them that if it does, I'd rather take Casablanca over another delay but they assured me that it shouldn't be an issue.

I mailed mine late August. Just got my movies in the mail this last Friday. I won't complain much about getting five movies for free even if there's a bit of a wait attached. I got the goods and that's what matters in the end.

Nothing online, click on the rebate link in the op and in the fine print at the bottom there's a toll free number to call. Call and ask for status, they are very friendly and helpful.

I submitted my rebate form August 6th and received my movies November 24th.

I got fed up with the repeated delays and I called, asked to speak with a supervisor, and inquired as to which of the 3 companies I should name as the primary to my complaints to the BBB and my state AG. My HDDVDs were then shipped via FedEx the next morning.

I sent mine back in May and still haven't received it. I called them up around October and they said that I was in their system and told me to expect them in 3-4 weeks. Then they sent me a postcard with all the movies I've requested and an option of canceling my movies (wtf?). The postcard stated that the movies will be delivered on 11/25/07. I still haven't received them yet. I might have to call soon and see what excuse they come up with this time.

11/25 is the ship date, not delivery date. Check the card again. A lot of us got the same card.

I doubt it, they are banking that someone forgets one of the steps to void the free movies. THats why they do mail in rebates, They want you to get home, get disorganized, loose the receipt and they dont have to give you whatever rebate they promised.

Usually when they get an impartial form or missing a peice they throw it into a black hole because basically you will never hear from it again.

and I sent mine off and now im waiting... even though I lost the receipt so I took an old one and My gf's and photoshopped them together... Ill see what happens.
