I just got an ad and it's up at Hastings in Newnan. The title says it all....they are going to have 30% all used games from 10 p.m. to midnight on August 13th.
Right now, I spotted a few good games available there (like Rayman Raising Rabbids for X360 for $9.99), so all Newnan/Georgia/Alabama folks should take part in the sale!

It's not YMMV, they did it last year when Madden launched too. Every Hastings will be taking part. They did it with DVD sets last year, I made out like a bandit - I picked up Prison Break Season 1 used for $11 and Without a Trace season 1 for $8. I hope they include DVD's with it this year too.

This might be (and probably is) a dumb question, but will this be online as well? I've never seen a Hastings in Florida and I love those Rabbids, so i'd like to take part in this deal.
Anyone know?

hahaha.. the online store is a joke, is never updated, and often overpriced. so no.
and the 9.99 raving rabbids is for a used copy if the store has any.

Damn.
The only reason I had any semblence of an idea that they have an online store is because I often see them selling stuff on Amazon.
Oh well..

their "used games" section is so outdated. it doesn't even have Wii/360/PS3, but it lists XBox, PS1, N64, GC, GBC, and GBA. Of course, nothing works when you click on it.

From an email I received from Hastings:
Are you ready for improved player animations? How about plays that are more true to life? Madden NFL 2008 is loaded with more tackling, jumping and spinning and the trailer is playing right now. Check it out and catch your favorite NFL team before they make that next big play.
If all the action leaves you itching to hire your coaching staff and draft players, then head over to your local Hastings between 10 pm and midnight on Monday 8/13/07 for the Madden NFL 2008 Midnight Release Party. You’ll be one of the first to get your hands on a copy -- and you can score big with 30% off all used video games, movies and books.
All-new player moves are waiting to make this the most realistic NFL gaming experience ever. So get ready and get your season started.
Happy Gaming!

Confirmed, I work at a Hastings out west. Though the 30% off used doesn't even reach what associates get used product for :) .
Great place to work part time, huge savings on the used stuff I buy oh so often.

30% off DVDs and books as well just as I had hoped.. freakin' sweet.
What's the discounts for employees? I know it used to be 50%, but it changed here to 20% off.

The discount isn't a flat rate. Its based off of what the store pays for items. Used items are where the store makes most of its money, since they pay very little to the people who sell things to us. This means that we can get big discounts on used items since the store is still making a decent profit selling it to employees. New items, however, we can buy for a dollar or so above what the company pays for them.
The best I can think of to date was getting a Xb3 game that was priced at $49.99 used ($59.99 new). I was able to get it for about $27 after tax.

Wow, I may have to make the hour trip to my hastings and partake in this. They have some great used games like Super paper mario Wii, that i would love to get for around $27. Also have $30 in Hastings credit, so i could make like a tree and buy things.

I disagree with Scorch about the YMMV; the Jefferson City MO store never participates in the single night only 30 % sale, just the game midnight release. The only time I can get good sales at this Hastings is when the sale lasts the week. They also rarely accept coupons printed from the playhastings.com e-mails.

just called and confirmed the sale in auburn. i'll be there at 10.

Might want to also add according to the sunday ad in the paper. that the 30% used is only good if you buy Madden 08 from there.

Well according to hastings when I called earlier to see if they were having the midnight sale of madden. Those that pre-ordered can get 30% off of used items if they bring in their reciept for the pre-order of Madden 08. Or if you buy Madden 08 at the midnight sale you can also get 30% off your Items then. So it may just be my store but I dunno.

oh lord, i hope that's not true at the auburn one. i guess i'll just have to stop in and see.

weird. I never had to buy or show preordered proof or anything. They were giving the 30% off on everything used. I'll try to check it tonight, I hope you don't have to buy Madden.

Yeah, regardless i'm going to take my chance and go tonight and see what they have. I love the occasional late night drive through the country anyway.

I went and put the items I wanted on hold, and i'm getting a hell of a deal. I'll post 'em when I got 'em.
But yeah, I confirmed that (at least at my store) you don't even have to be remotely interested in Madden to get the 30% off. They have signs up everywhere saying 30% off all used CDs, DVDs, video games and books.

For those that didn't go, you missed out - nothing about Madden was required. The system was automatically ringing everything up at the 30% off price. The cashier's didn't even have to scan anything.
Anyway.. my sweet ass haul.

$13.99 a piece? Hell freakin' yeah, man!
Also found Marvel: Ultimate Alliance Gold Edition (X360).. got it used for 27.99. Also grabbed Resident Evil: Zero for $6.99. Never played it and the price was about right. I love RE games.

Wow, all 3 of those are Mature rated games and not a single one has the required Hastings 17+ to purchase sticker.
Someone should be getting fired, corporate doesn't like that.

Seeing as how I work at a Hastings I am well aware of that little fact. Its still policy to issue 17+ tags to all M games, and 18+ tags to all parental advisory music.
