The video game selection at my locla TRU S-U-C-K's. They didn';t have Ninja Gaiden or really any other PS3 or 360 game I wnated. So I ended up getting Mario Strikers. But I really wanted NGS to match a $60 game with a $60 360 Madden.

Anyway, my take was...

In Store: Madden 360 ($48) + Mario Strikers Wii ($25)
Online: Madden Wii ($50) + Eternal Sonata ($30 - $5 Pg Rebate)

Using a gift receipt, you would have to get 2 seperate gift receipts, when you return madden in theory they would credit you 48 bucks (60-12 off with 20% off coupon). I have done this before a few years ago... and it worked when I used the gift receipts. if you use the regular receipt the price on the returned madden will jump in price as well as the bioshock.

I just checked with my local TRU for Bioshock.. it's staffed on such a level of stupidity, none of the associates that I spoke to even knew how they received games (and told me to "call tomorrow, the lady in the security closet left an hour ago and would be there in the morning."). It was the GHIII 360 bundle you were getting 50% off for $44.99 when you bought Madden with it. There was a glitch in the online system that even though it was of greater value it still worked. But the deals been dead since around 7 or 8 am est. Ok, so I called northern NJ stores to see if they had BioShock considering that the Times Square store had it and only the one in North Bergen (right by the licoln tunnel) had it. Rushed over there and bought it, used the 20% coupon and got the two for $80 and change. They had about 5 copies of BioShock on the shelf after i left (not sure if there were more in the back).

Seems as though its slowly getting streaming out from the city so maybe some of the other NJ stores are going to get it soon. Although, its possible that they may actually hold off on selling until next week (that's what one store said to me). Anyway THANKS CAG. Awesome Deal. Now that i'm a grad student I've got to save all the money that I can. Hopefully, the annual TRU sale in october (3 fo 2) will get me some more games. I know ti's been confirmed a number of times but just picked up Madden 360 and Guitar Hero II (guitar and game) at the TRU in Sunnyvale, CA. Just over $100 but I did get the$5 gift card.

Picked up Picross DS with the GC.

The amazing thing was the guy working there threw in some of his own change to help me pay for the game. I've never had that happen before. He did say I was the first person to try out the GH II bundle as they still have a few left. Everyone was asking for Bioshock but no luck on the West Coast.

well my Toys R Us had Madden in stock, and when I asked for Bioshock they told me ithat it hasn't come in yet. I proceed to look around the store when I notice a bunch of shipment boxes that were ready to be thrown out by their backdoor. On three of the boxes it says "Do not sale before 8/21" in a big orange and black sticker. Hmm what other game is street dated for 8/21 beside Bioshock? none the Toys R Us by me was just smart and knew not to break the street date.:cry:

I know, because I bought Madden on PSP and picked up Mario Strikers: Charged, and they let me apply the 20% off coupon on Madden (can't apply it to the second game, as it already has the 50% off discount). I would try it, I think not too many people are picking up the Guitar Hero 2 bundle cause they don't know it would work, plus TRU would probably stock a ton of Maddens. Anyway here's how it worked, first he scanned in GH 2 bundle, then Madden 08 then the 20% coupon ofgf of madden so i ended paying 44.99 for GH2 bundle, 47.99 for madden plus tax giving a grand total of 101.12 after everything not bad deal at all. I wanted Bioshock but I will get it next week. I'm glad I cancelled my online order.

I had zero problems at my local TRU yesterday - picked up Madden '08 and C&C 3 for the XB360. The lady at the register scanned Madden first, then C&C, then the 20% off coupon. She then read back to me as the register displayed the discounts - $128.38... $96.28... $83.44. I didn't have to say a word, which wouldn't have mattered anyway as this was an older lady who clearly was just working there for a bit of extra scratch. She just mindlessly scanned away and read back what the little computer told her, and that was that!

TRU in Kennesaw, GA doesn't have Bioshock in and the manager said they received an edict from Regional to not sell it when it does arrive due to the early sales that have been reported at numerous locations. I don't know if Regional means the state of Georgia or the entire SE, either way I'm a little disappointed.

When you guys are calling these stores, how are you getting transferred to the actual games department? It seems like everytime that I call, I ask for the games department, and the person just asks, "well, what can I help you with?" instead of sending me over there. I tell them that I am wondering if they have Bioshock in, they type some stuff in the computer, and then tell me that the game is not being released until 8/21. I went to the two stores near me and neither had it (supposedly), even though I went to a store in Austin that someone apparently bought one of the first copies at (on the boards).

Georgians....give it up. None of the TRUs are selling bioshock...and most of the associates sound super bummed when they pick up the phone. They all know Bioshock's street release by heart. A rarity!

I went into my local one and the guy was pretty rude and told me That They never get new release games early and he has been working their for 2 years. Any game is the in-store glitch. The website, as far as I know, has always limited which games can be used in the 50% off sale. But on the website you can preorder games with the 50% off, i.e. you can't get Halo 3 but you can get Metroid Prime 3 or Smash Bros. Brawl or Lair and so forth.

Guitar hero for $36 is just too hard to pass up. Even with getting stuck with the DS version its worth it ($66). But I have zero desire to play ds madden, I would play 360 madden for an extra $30 (but I don't have the $ to spend). Anyone else have luck/no luck returning madden after the deal? No luck with Bioshock in my area. Guy behind the counter said street date was 8/21 and they weren't selling before then. My 2nd choice was Overlord but they didn't have that at all. Didn't see anything else in stock that I wanted. They have a horrible selection of games in store. Too bad I already have GHII or I would definitely jump on that deal.

No I just used the receipt with the dollar amounts instead of the gift receipt( so I could get cash back) because there are no deductions off the DS Madden. The receipt shows $29.99 for Madden DS and the GH2 shows 89.99 - 45.00: 44.99- 9.00 = 35.99

Just got Madden 08 for Wii + WiiPlay at TRU Times Square, NYC, combining the 50% deal with the 20% coupon. At first the girl gave me a hard time about WiiPlay. "It's not a game, it's a controller."

"No," I say, "It's a game with a controller pack-in. Just scan it."

She wouldn't, but her supervisor did, and tada!

Another question: Anyone know which game the 20% will come off of if you buy DS madden with a $60 360 game (ex: bioshock). Because if it came off of bioshock, a return of the DS version would come to bioshock: $24.

It does say Madden promo on the receipt but there are no deductions off the $29.99 price. There is no way the folks at the return counter will question squat. The only thing they see are the deductions and the final dollar amount.
