Tried to return madden after buying gears and madden 08 for 360. I chatted up the video game guy for 20 minutes, he kept talking about buying multiple copies and just returning madden.

Went over to the return desk and got slammed. They called the manager over and he said no go as well. The video game dude wouldn't come when they paged him :( Oh well, guess I'll find out if I'm a football game fan.

I never said getting a full refund was foolproof. What I said is BS was claiming TRU will force you to return both games with a gift receipt.

That said, getting a refund is YMMV, but mostly a matter of being patient and persistent. Per store policy, you've got 45 days...eventually you'll get a CSR who misses the transaction details. My store is in one of the wealthiest counties in the US and they don't hassle you like you're white trash, they actually bend over backwards to please their customers. Guess that makes me lucky.

Well I can tell you that tonight, actually lastnight by the time I posted this, I returned Madden for a full CASH REFUND and got to keep GHII for $44. The cashier asked if there was anything wrong with the game and I just told her that my room mate already bought a copy and opened it thus I did not need my copy. She scaned the receipt, actuall receipt NOT the gift receipt, and then the unopened Madden 08 for the 360 and then gave me the refund. I will also note that my cousin bought Madden DS with GHII and got the 50% off GHII still and like I said this was around 8pm.

Just wanted to share my expierience this week. I picked up Madden 08 for the PS3 and the 360 Guitar Hero bundle on Wednesday. The receipt said the 20% off coupon was applied to Madden and GH was 50% off. I actually don't have a PS3 but the 360 Madden was sold out and I wanted to get in on the GH deal while I could in case they fixed it.
So I went back last night on the way home from work and asked if I could exchange Madden for the 360 version. She said no problem, and just gave me store credit...for 59.99 + tax. I was expecting 48 bucks back because of the coupon, but hey, I'm not going to turn it down.
I just wanted to get the 360 version, but now I can use the coupon again and get another game half off. I wasn't trying to screw Toys R Us, but I'm not going to ask to pay more either. Now if I could only get them to sell me BioShock...

That's the only way to go I think. If I had a 360 game I wanted even at half price, I would have used the 20% coupon to get Madden under $50, which is what you can expect to get for it on Ebay, then enjoy a half price anything.

Just picked up Madden 360 and another game for $78 total. Used both the 20% off coupon and the $5 coupon that is out on the TRU website. Great deal on two new games any way you slice it regardless if you keep both, flip them or return them. Only thing is TRU game selection isn't good in the stores. No Overlord! (Oh yea, another bad thing is I missed out on the BioShock pre-release madness!) I'll have to PM it at BB next week though so its not a total loss. :bouncy:

I think i got screwed. I did the online deal for madden 08 for 360 and bioshock. They told me it was gonna be 104.24 for both with shipping and tax. Well since bioshock isn't out yet they sent out Madden by itself and charged me 6.54 for shipping which was suppose to be the total shipping cost for madden 08 and bioshock together. So far i have been charged 71.85 for madden and i do not know what price i am paying for bioshock. If i have to pay shipping for Bioshock i will be pissed and I know I will.

You must be proud of yourself, except all the efforts that went into getting a free copy of bioshock ($4 surplus will be not enough to cover ebay fees for the two games) were too much; all the driving, gas, time spent on all these is worth more than $60 for me.

Bought a set of Madden DS with Guitar Hero 2 for the Xbox 360 yesterday. It's not really my type of game, so I'll be returning the whole thing Monday. Didn't even know they had Blue Dragon early. You must be proud of yourself, except all the efforts that went into getting a free copy of bioshock ($4 surplus will be not enough to cover ebay fees for the two games) were too much; all the driving, gas, time spent on all these is worth more than $60 for me.

I'm not selling on eBay. I already sold Gears for $45 and I have someone who wants GHII for $65. Haven't technically sold that one just yet, but $25 off a hot selling game is a great deal to some people- especially the people that glomped Comp USA when they had games over MSRP at 10% off.

If you said you took Madden to Wal*Mart, when you bought it at TRU and committed return fraud by doing so to get the $60 gift card, then THAT is why the post was deleted. Well, in this situation, people are returning Madden for a full refund even thought the 50% off is supposed to be part of a package deal. Technically, if you return Madden, you're supposed to pay the remaining balance (the other fifty percent) for the second game.

I think it may be more of a moral issue, than legal. There is no way Walmart or Target can know where you got a game.


For those that don't know, as of August 1st you can't return any item to Target that rings up more than $20.00 without a receipt. No exhanges, store credit, nada.

Went to TRU and returned my Madden for a gift card. It was hassle free and done very quickly, the lady didnt even bother to look at the game and immediately scanned the gift reciept and the game.

After that I went back into the Rzone and got myself a copy of Dead Rising and used another 20% off coupon on Dead Rising and $6 came off.

Its funny becuase as I was buying the game, the assistant manager came in and talked to the Rzone employee and told her that customers cant return the Madden 08 after they bought another game unless they return both games or do the pay extra for the 50% offed game. Apparently a girl bought Madden and the Rzone lady said she culd return it. So she went to try stupidly right after she bought the two games and with the regular reciept. This was the same assistant manager that helped me return Madden.

So in all, I got GH2 and Dead Rising for a total of $65 :)

You shouldn't have a problem as long as you have the receipt. As long as every bar is showing on the case, you can scan it, even if there is a very small bit showing.

You shouldn't have too much of a problem. If it comes down to it, they can check their system inventory vs. their on hand inventory to show they have an extra unit on hand, if they are diligent about keeping their numbers in check.

That's pretty crooked. You need to fight them on that. They can't just cancel a part of your order like that mid-process after part has been processed and charged. If they cancelled the whole thing, there's no probelm, but once they start charging you for parts of it, they can't start altering your charge breakdown at their whim. That's BBB complaint material.

I'm not feeling too good about my order now. I got in on the sale while Guitar Hero 3 was still showing up half-off. I got my Madden charged at full price and GH3 is supposed to be half-off when it comes out. They better not even think about cancelling half of it like that. I was expecting them to cancel it totally, which would have been fine, but once they charged me for Madden, they obligated themselves to the total listed.
