I just stopped by my local TRU and the guys at the counter showed me the email from corporate explaining the promotion. They just got it this weekend. It clearly states that if you buy Madden you get another game 50% off. It doesn't say anything about restrictions in the corporate email. Or at least none that I noticed, but it's probably there sinc eother people arfe mentioning a couple games.

Reasonably I would assume that it means any game under $60. But there's no mention of any price restrictions in the email. Therefore, it is conceivable that you could get Guitar Hero II for your second game and get that for $40. It all depends on how they work it in their system. Either way, we can't rule out if a game greater than $60 is eligible or not. The guy at the counter said he was going to try it with GHII himself.

On the gift card, the guy said I could pre-order it today. I also asked about the 20% coupon. He said he wouldn't be able to know if it was combineable until Tuesday when they would have to try it in the system. I decided to wait until then because the chance of getting $12 off on Tuesday outweighed savign $5 today. I also have a $3 coupon which I might tey on Tuesday.

My TRU has Madden out the ass. They said they got two shipments of Madden for all systems and will have a third on Monday. They have almost no chance of selling out he said. More of an issue, at leats for me, is their selection of other games. I dunno what I would want for 50% off since their pickings were slim and I already had a lot of what they had.

Anyway, this is definately going on and your TRU's should no about it on Monday at the latest. It's in a TRU email. I've read it.

Just got back from TRU with my $5 pre-order of the 360 version. No luck on the $5 GC even though they have a huge display with the offer right as your walkking in the gaming section. After bringing up the issue, I was told that the $5 card would be there when I picked up the game.

Everyone else in this post has received thir GC on the pre-order so I'm sure that I'm going to have to complain whjen I pickup Madden on Tuesday to get anything.

Walmarts in my area require at least a gift receipt for any item over X amount of dollars anymore. Guess they got burned by people doing that too many times. A friend of mine is still able to return stuff at his Walmart though. It seems like the policy change only happened in bigger cities.

I hope I'm wrong, but if it's set up like last year, I don't think you'll be able to do that. For example, the receipt will show a 2nd XBOX 360 game purchased for $29.99, so if you tried to exchange the 2nd game it would have to be for one that's 29.99 or lower.

It all depends if you're going to play online. Well, and if you're a graphics whore. I can deal with the Wii graphics, myself.

For me, I will probably just play franchise mode and sim games. I rarely even play a game of this...I just like the RPG aspect of it. After that, when people are over we'll play party mode on Wii. Finally, something to mix it up a bit...Wii Sports still rocks, but it's nice to try something different.

If you're a huge online gamer then there is no question the 360 is where it's at. Yes, the Wii has online, but the hardcore players will have the 360 version so the real competition will be there.

The PS3 version is not even a factor...30 FPS...F that.

Well, if you had read the OP, you would know that preorders in-store are done by putting $5 down on a game. You can't pay for a game in full when doing a preorder. Also, the in-store selection of preorder titles is much less than what's available online. I'm almost positive that Bioshock isn't available for preorder in-store.

Technically, you could get it to work if you can convince the cashier to scan the "merch" UPC on the preorder card. But that won't happen.

I swore to myself that I would never order from toysrus.com again but I just did. I was going to wait till I went to the store today and tried my luck but since some stores aren't participating I didn't want to take a chance. Plus at the TRU by me it all depends who is working. One lady wouldn't let me use more then one coupon on 2 separate orders never mind stacking and on the other hand a young kid working there would let me stack coupons.

I pretty sure that the 50% wont work on pre orders in store. Or if that 20% will be stackable. Plus GH III is of greater value so its a glitch online. I wanted to wait on the WII reviews but I just ordered the 360 version instead. It seems the Wii version wasn't working when I added it to my cart anyway. It says available till you add it to your cart. Same with the PS3 version. But the 360 version is back ordered and you can still order it.

Not sure if this will work at all stores, but..

In the store there are A LOT of signs that say "Equal or lesser price value"

However, I asked the lady at the counter if she would check to see if GHII would work, and told her you could get that on the website as the 50% off game.

She rang it in the computer and it DID come up for $45, so I walked out the door with Madden and GHII for $93 and tax.

Time to give my friend back his copy that I've borrowed for the last 2 months lol..

Thanks for the info about this deal! I just went into Toys R Us and picked up Madden for PS3 and MArio Strikers (To sell) and used the 20 percent off, and then got right back in line and did it again to get Madden for 360 & Guitar Hero 80's Edition to sell with the 20 percent off. :) Dunno if they are supposed to be able to allow multiple purchases or not but the guy at the register didn't seem too bright. I might go back and get some more to sell! :applause:

Just a heads up for anyone near the Toys R Us store in Austin (on I-35). My friend just went in to pick up Madden and was gonna try to pick up a preorder of Bioshock for me to go along w/ the 50% + 20% coupon deal. Well they had just received the Bioshock shipment for the xbox 360 there, so he already picked Bioshock up for me.

So anyone not able to wait till next week for that game, go there to pick it up now. They probably have it sitting in the back now, but might be lucky and get the guy to go in the back to get it for you. Great deal considering each game comes out to around $42.00 total.

Generally, you only get back the lesser amount, but I've never returned a game to TRU, so I'm not sure.

I had the same kind of thing in mind myself... I can't stand Madden or any other football games personally, but what if you were able to get madden 08 and another game, and then ask for GIFT RECEIPTS on both of them. Then you could go back next week and theoretically exchange it for Bioshock or whatever. They should have done this deal NEXT week, plus with that 20% off that would have been a deal!

If you use the regular receipt, it may not work if you are trying to return or exchange for a game next week, but I think a GIFT RECEIPT would. I did something similar at TRU a few years ago and was able to do it.

Wow, if my TRU already has bioshock in stock my jaw would be on the floor. Usually the game companies are on contract to not sell games,dvds, music before their official release date, but it can happen. My local blockbuster puts new DVD movies out for rent the weekend right before they are out officially.

I'm not going to return Madden somewhere I didn't buy it, and I'm not going to turn around and sell it on eBay (as I guarantee you you'll take an $8-$10 hit right there, new or not...happens every year). It's just that I have Amazon Prime and when you divide $97 right down the middle, it's really no 'deal' compared to the $49.99 (no tax, no shipping) that they've got Prime retailing for.* Or am I just looking at this the wrong way?

Ah, maybe I'll see if my local store has The Darkness, as I was going to wait for it to hit the $30 pricepoint anyway.

If your store has it, YES. Some people are reporting TRU getting BioShock early and SELLING it.

I got my two 360 games for a $100 total, so you're only saving $10/game (minue tax/shipping if that's applicable to you). It's really only a good deal if you're planning on getting Madden, and planning on getting one of the other full price games. If you don't want Madden, and are just looking for a cheap deal on another game, I'd say look somewhere else.

That and shipping is outrageous at TRU.com.
