Anybody know of where I can play this outside of arcades? Has it been released as an unlockable in some Simpsons game or maybe even on some online service (Live, PSN)?

There was a very old PC port that sucked ass.

The game itself isn't very good. The only way to play it is at your local arcade or MAME.

I'm surprised it hasn't shown up on XBLA, actually. Seems like Konami and EA could ink a deal like Konami and Ubisoft did for TMNT.

zewone, when was the last time you played this? I just recently replayed it with some friends on MAME. While it suffers from the monotony of every arcade beat-em-up, it's still a fantastic game for its genre.

About a year ago. Me and my roommate got into a co-op beat 'em up binge and played just about every game of the genre we could think of. This one just didn't hold up well compared to others with deeper gameplay.

I was just playing this on my modded Xbox with MAME the other day. Wasn't as good as I remembered it. Just plays like any other generic, cookie-cutter beat em up from the early 90's (TMNT, every Capcom game).

Whoa whoa whoa. Every Capcom game?

You need to play the Capcom Dungeons & Dragons and Alien vs. Predator arcade beat 'em ups. Probably some of the best in the genre, if not the best.

Dungeons & Dragons I will need to try. I love Alien Vs Predator. What are your thoughts on Knights of Round?

The one on SNES?

I remember it being pretty good, haven't played that one since I was a kid.

Oh, and theres a sequel to the D&D game that improves on the first one. Both great.

It was in Arcades too. I don't think I ever played the SNES version.

Try Capcom Classics Collection; it's on there (not sure off the top of my head if it's on #1 or #2).

The Simpsons arcade game by Konami is awesome, this is the first place I've ever heard anyone say otherwise. I just wish they'd allow us to play it at home since there are more or less no real arcades anymore!

On my MAME machine it's one of the top requests to play.

I'm very fortunate to have Dungeons & Dragons Collection for my Saturn. The down side is that it's only 2-players. This is most definatly my favorite beat em' up ever.

As for the Simpsons Arcade Game I have to agree with zewone. It's not one of the better beat em' ups from the 90's. And even though it's not too much better than TMNT & Simpsons I'd like to the 6-player version of X-Men on XBLA.

What I meant was just the beat em ups. I know they're some exceptions but I must have played 10 Capcom beat em ups last night and they all played basically the same (Punisher, Captain Commando, Cadillacs And Dinosaurs, Knights Of The Round, King Of Dragons, etc.).

What's MAME? (I would google it but... I'm hoping one of you give me a simple explanation.)

I haven't played it in ages and I really got an itch to play it again. I know it won't the great or anything but this was easily my most favorite game to play at the arcades (back when we still had one).

So many tokens...

What's MAME?

Simply put, it's the leading emulator for arcade games.

Emulator, eh? I never knew about this MAME... looks I'll have to google it.

My MAME controller: The Slik Stik Classic. $500 slikstik.com

Spendy but worth it. Absolute authentic arcade controls. Plus it's got a dedicated Pac-Man stick (the yellow one, which is a four way only stick), the silver thing is the spinner which can act as a steering wheel or the best, most authentic controls for Tempest possible. There's even pinball buttons on the side for PINMAME emulation, which I can't figure out how to use.

Just don't expect very good customer service for Slik Stik. They will NEVER respond to you. If it's defective, it could take MONTHS for them to even get back to you. They're incredible a-holes. But it's still the best arcade-emulation stick on the market.

I take my MAME very seriously. Obviously I collect real arcade games too, but realisticly I'll never in a million years own every arcade game, nor do I have the room for such things. I buy every Arcade Comp game for every console so I don't feel too guilty about using an emulator.

BTW, I'm building a real cabinet for it. I bought the side art and everything.

Yeah, the Simpsons Arcade Game doesn't hold up too well. It's fun with friends, but I had more fun with the X-Men arcade game.

Unless I just couldn't figure it out, one of the biggest problems with the Simpsons arcade game is that you can't choose your character. Player 1 is always Marge, Player 2 is Homer, 3 is Bart and 4 is Lisa (I may have gotten 3 and 4 reversed). That's a huge downer.

I would play Bart as 1st player because as per usual with arcade cabinets some of the buttons never worked on 3 because someone got a little too angry.

There's two versions of Simpsons Arcade. A two player version and a four player version. In the four player version, it's laid out like TMNT or Gauntlet. Whichever controller you pick IS choosing your character.

In the two player version (aka the conversion version), you can choose your character.

Four player dedicated version.

Four player "Conversion", which uses the cabinet of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Couldn't find a picture of the two player version one, mostly because no cabinet exists for it. It's simply a JAMMA conversion with a different board then the normal four player Simpsons game.

I loved this game, and I'd also like to be able to play it at home. I remember always playing the bottom version of the one you have pictured, as I remember the joysticks were always colored.

I remember playing this some, but not nearly as much as Turtles or some others.

It does seem like a great market is being missed with many of these classic games. I wish we'd see them more out there, and it's one of the few exceptions where I have no problem with emulation, as there literally is no other way to play these. Too bad.

Screw simpons (even though I love it), I want X-men the arcade game. I have wasted so, so many quarters in that bad boy.

Alien vs Predator rocks... imo The simpsons is still fun to play through with some friends. Not the best game ever but still not bad. Mame is the only way to go unless you want the arcade machine in your house. I would recommend the x-arcade controller (supports 4 way for pacman as well) I have two of them I bought used off of ebay for around $70 shipped each. They are the dual versions not the stand alone. So for $140 I have the 4 player arcade set up :-)

I don't know... this game isn't that fun, IMO. People always play it on my cab for about 5 minutes and then pick something else. It gets better with every additional player though.

I don't know if it's me or what... but I just played it and really enjoyed it (especially since I basically had unlimited lives)! I just need to set it up sometime so both my bro and I can play. I remember it was even more fun with more players though I've never played it with more than 3 people.

It a fun game with others, as all the classic konami multiplayer beat em ups such as the TMNT games and the Xmen arcade game... got them all on my modded xbox...

I love the Simpsons, and the arcade game on any downloadable service would be perfect. Along with the 6-player X-Men arcade game. It has to be 6-players, or I'm not interested.

Im perfectly happy with 4 players on my xbox, 6 would be better but not possible in my current setup

I would love for these arcade beat 'em ups games with online co-op... actually, that's what I was expecting with the 360's XBL but I've been pretty disappointed thus far.

Source? I'd heard it was coming, but not this early. I really hope it is, because I'll have two games to pick up then!
