View Full Version : Favorite Mega Man series
The Mana Knight

I've wanted to start this poll/thread for a while (due to really liking Mega Man myself), but never did because it's not that easy, due to several Mega Man games being out. Well, hopefully the poll grouping I'm trying works out.
My favorite Mega Man series is the X series, without a doubt. Although I felt the series declined a bit with X6 and X7, I still got the most enjoyment out of the series. I've enjoyed the slightly more serious storyline, along with its fast paced action. I also find myself wanting to completely beat the Mega Man X games. Also, the soundtrack in the X games rocks.
I'd say the original Mega Man series is my second favorite. I still have many fond memories playing them when I was a kid (and oh course Mega Man Powered Up was awesome).
I really like the Mega Man Network games a lot. The storylines are great and I really like the battle system (especially in Battle Network). I also really like Lan as a character. I played all but the 6th on GBA, but I hope to pick it up one day. I was also into the TV show a little. ;)
Mega Man Zero and ZX games are pretty good, but I haven't completely got into them. Same case with Legends, but I hope to one day.

Mega Man X series!! I love that series so much, it really brings back a lot of memories for me. Then of course the original Mega Man games 1-8 after the X series. So for myself I like the Mega Man X series first the the original Mega Man games 1-8, all bring back so many memories.

i liked the original , x and z megaman games but i think overall its a toss up for me between the x and z series. the snes games were fun but the bosses were repetitive. the z games ( i believe the gba games) had better action and stories but i could never figure out the fairy system and damn those bosses were hard which i liked because the harder the game the more rewardign the experience when you finally beat it.

I don't think anyone but me is going to say Legends, so I'll be the black sheep/lone wolf and choose that.
I thought it was great. Good atmosphere, an actual feeling like your actions were helping others, lots of fun minigames and customization, and a true feeling of exploration. It was amusing also - some humprous dialogue and some great characters. I loved playing the soccer mini game to get cash, and loved how the world felt persistent. You could actually meet people and talk to them and mess around with their stuff. Kicking garbage around never got boring.
I'd really like to see another one made. I'll go on record and say that whatever system gets MML3 will be in my house almost immediately.

Too hard to choose, the originals were some of the best games of their time in my opinion, especially 2. The Xs were also quite good and obviously a massive improvement, but I'm if they stand out amongst concurrent games as well as the first ones.
I also remember some fun times with mega man soccer...

Original for me.
Seeing as Mega Man 5 was my first Mega Man game and I still love it to this day. I even played it a few days ago. It's aged well and is still fun. Mega Man 2 was also vey very awesome. Along with the rest that I've played.
Original, but not all the way up to 8.

Going with the orginal series.
Speaking of Mega Man the creater (Isafune-san I think) was at a New York GS. My friend meet him. I wanted him to sign my copy of Mega Man 2

I was pissed when Inafune-san said he thought his original drawings of the villains were bad in the doc. Fuck that, the drawings were great. He shouldn't be so hard on himself.
For me it's a tie between X and the original.
Oh and Mega 2 is fucking legendary, no doubt. Quick Man and Air Man ftw as well as possibly Heat Man. The Quick Man level is legendary as well. Too bad part of Turbo Man's level in 7 is a ripoff or a "homage", whichever you prefer to call it. Still doesn't make sense to me why he uses flame.
Mega one deserves the legendary rating for just something about the design as well as the bareboness of it all. No energy tanks, no Rush to help you getting over obstacles. Especially if you beat Wily on one you deserve props. I've never pulled it off. Also question. Is anyone else's copy of MM Anniversary Collection missing the appearing blocks on the first stage against Wily because they have NEVER popped up for me so I couldn't get to Wily if I wanted too. :(

As much as I liked some of the X games, I'm going with Legends. No, I haven't played the second game or Misadventures. No, I didn't even beat the final boss of the first one. But you know what? I'm still going with it because fuck you.
...
By the way, anyone selling/trading those two games for the PS1? My inbox is empty right now.

Mega Man X was the first mega man I ever played and absolutely loved it. I am praying Capcom releases a remake for it on the DS like they did on the PSP. Or any other traditional mega man game.

Legends, with power battles being second... I never could find a way to totally enjoy any of the originals or X games... still want more legends titles.

Original Mega Man for me. Such a fun and fantastic set of games. I wish Capcom would still make them, even if they are gonna be remakes like Powered Up.
The original X is actually my favorite MM game but the series just goes down in quality from there.

I grew up playing the originals on the NES but the X series gets my vote. The X series was good all the way up to X4 but after that it went downhill IMO.

I'll give you X5 - X7 but X8 was good, and very hard. You didn't like it?

Original series for me, my favorite being the second game. I like X, as well as the Battle Network series. I played some Legends, but not very much as I rented it and never owned it... I'd love to get it though.

Original. Nothing tops Mega Man 2 and Mega Man 3. Even if Mega Man 3 has the "Top Spin"

I'll give you X5 - X7 but X8 was good, and very hard. You didn't like it?I liked X5 and X7 more than most, but X6 I didn't like at all. I do agree X8 was awesome. I bought it only because I was a Mega Man X fanboy, but after playing it, I was extremely impressed. I heard Capcom gave the development off to a different team, which is why it turned out great I guess. It makes me want an X9 badly.

I like the first series the best. Mega Man 2 was my first Mega Man game, and Mega Man 6 was my second.

For me, the X series is definitely the best. I love the upgrades and the emphasis on dashing through the levels, jumping from wall to wall, etc. I like the original series, but I like MM8 more than anything from the original games...

I thought X7 was the worst in the series, it was the only one in the series I didn't beat (besides MM Command Mission.) I disliked it so much I passed on X8 thinking it would be the same. Then a freind highly recomended it and I gave it a shot. I couldn't have been more wrong.

It's really hard to choose, because they're all so good. I didnt get to try the orginal MegaMan until last year with the Anniversary Collection. I grew up on Megaman X, and then played Zero. I loved the difficulty in MM Zero! I found it to be a good challenge and should be played for it's story. ZX is a great new direction for the handheld series adding new ways to play other than just blasting and slashing. I still havent played Legends though. My vote goes for Zero I guess.
I don't think anyone but me is going to say Legends, so I'll be the black sheep/lone wolf and choose that.

I e-mailed Capcom about Mega Man Legends 3 awhile back and they had no info regarding it...
Who knows it we'll ever see it...
For me I like the classic series the best, nothing beat it, Mega Man-wise.
