What games am I missing that I need to get before they are impossible find later on?

Now that stores are pushing for sales of next gen games and slowly moving out the old system games (BB is weeding out there game cube games fast), it's time for me to get the games for my XB, PS2, and Cube before I can no longer get a hold of them anywhere.

I already got Eternal Darkness.... I haven't played that in years.... after a few hours, I think if I went ahead and finish that game, I think my head would be messed up for awhile.

I don't think finding Odin Sphere will be a problem... every store that I've walked into has 5+ copies, CC has $15+.

I think the games you'll need to watch out for are the ones that are already going for $20-$40 even though they're over 2 years old.

Sendme, Sure you're not thinking of the PAL version with the fancy art cards? That version goes for a lot.

I got a sealed copy out of the bargin bin at Walmart for like $10, Ebay prices don't seem that high. It's rare in Europe, goes for a bundle over there.

EDIT - Actually the PAL version doesn't seem to be worth that much now, maybe it was re-printed.

Disgaea got a reprint, but phantom brave and la pucelle tactics (spelling effed up on all of that I bet) are hard to find.

Phantom Brave and La Pucelle are both like average $15 on eBay for the longest time and only now it looks like it went up by a few bucks. Disgaea was getting $60+ before the 1st reprint and ~$45 before the second one.

But I agree about the Atlus though, every other game they release becomes impossible to find. You never know what's going to be impossible to find and what isn't. I always end up buying every Atlus game full price (or close to). NIS is almost as bad except with them it seems like it only happens with 1/3 games.

And GC has rare/HTF games other than Ikaruga?:-O

My thinking is that any ps2 game that has come out since the 'next gen' started has a chance of becoming rare. Many mainstream gamers are 'done' with the ps2, and they probably sold their ps2 and its games to get money to buy a 360, or a PS3.

When these people go to the store they probably now walk right past the ps2 section.

One game I really think will go up in value is The Red Star. Most EB/GS's got 1-2 copies at the most. I think Ive seen one gutted copy in a store ever.

All the weird, quirky, late in the life of the ps2 games could be rare.

For the Cube and the Xbox, its already pretty much known what the rare and sought after games will be. And in the case of the original Xbox, many of those 'rare' games suck. Unless your collecting for completion, you dont need Barbie Horse Adventures and F-1 2001.

Keep checking craigslist - I got very lucky and score a minty fresh (but opened) copy complete for $5. (this being in regards to Ikaruga).

As for PS2...can't go wrong with all the RPGS, particularly the JRPGs and Strategy RPGS. But of course, many are rarely if ever discounted (other than the big budget and big print run popular ones...but even then, better to get them now than pay out the ass for the GH version in 5 years) because of the low print runs (and if they are they tend to go RIDICULOUSLY fast...remember the TRU $10 sale over Christmas, or the CC clearance lists?) so it's advisable to just bite the bullet and pick them up if you can find them at the stores.

I'm talking the Shin Megamis, Persona, Odin Sphere, etc. you know, the Atlus/NIS stuff.

If you have a Fry's near you, check them out. They tend to have a LOT of the rarer RPGs, and sometimes even have them clearanced out. They had La Pucelle Tactics I believe for $9, and lots of copies. Plus, even if not clearanced out, they tend to have the rare ones in stock but at full $40 or $50 price :cry:

Well the last 2 weeks Cheapy has been posting deals from them on the front page, as they are trying to "win back CAG's business and our trust".

In any case, I think they had Rez reprints one week and Ico this past week? If you don't care about whether or not it's a reprint, some of their weekly deals that were posted were ALMOST enticing enough for me.

Nothing NIS has personally published will become hard to find.

Atlus hasnt printed anything exceptionally hard to find since the first Digital Devil Saga in 2005.

Hell, the last SMT game is relatively bargain bin (24.99 used Devil Summoner).

Persona 3 I can see going places, but only because it comes in a box set similar to DDS.

Cubivore is on the cusp of being hard to find, and I think it'll only get more so.

Shadow Hearts 1 goes for around $30 complete now; look for that to climb 80% in years to come.

Where are you looking? I have bought two copies of Ico off of Ebay in the past 2 1/2 years. The first one cost less than $30. I gave that away as a gift last winter, and I bought another copy last month for $21, and that includes shipping. Ico is out there, and it seems that the price is getting lower.

I have SoA for the DC........ played it once then stopped, why? Because it wasn't as good as Grandia 2.

All those games on my list (including ST:E) is all the games I have, that way you can exclude a game I already have..

The only games I can think of that really get rare (besides Ikaruga on the GC) are NDS games, and since your list has no NDS games, I'd say you're missing pretty much every single game you should have that will be impossible to find later on.

oh I have the DS and about 25 games ...but too lazy to list right now...maybe later.

Now I don't have the PSP......I am waiting for it to drop MORE in price or it have a built in hard drive...
