I was looking for the original gungrave and just happen to come across this. Didn't see it posted anywhere so here you go.

It appears to be the official U.S. release. I got a feeling this game will release at a value price. A solid deal for gungrave fans.

This has got to be a price mistake? Can anyone confirm. Even value games usually start at $19.99. I might have to place an order before they raise the price. The did honor the price on FM4.

It's misprice again.... GUNGrave OD MSRP $39.99 or $49.99 :)

They shipped FM 4 and hope it go thru. again ;)

I have sent it listed at $20 at a few online stores so an extra $5 off would not be surprising.

Sweet. Just placed my preorder.

BTW, I've preordered a DVD from them when they goofed the price, and I got it as well.

EDIT: If it lists for close to this and you don't want it, you can always cancel.

Didn't Space Channel 5: SE release at 14.99? Or was the official retail price $19.99?

I ordered one but I don't know about this game. The videos I've seen on IGN don't look too great. It might just be bad video quality though. I'm starting to think that there's a reason why it's only $15 to begin with.

Well, of course. Because a game starts out cheap, it's automatically crap!

Just look at those new ESPN games!

Totally forgot about Virtua Fighter 4 EVO. All I'm saying is that I hope this doesn't turn out to be a Devil May Cry 2. It's going to be really hard to live up to the first Gungrave.

I heard that the first Gungrave was unspectacular best an at least according to IGN, the second one does fix some of those mistakes. But who knows....

Gungrave was a great game. it was just overshadowed by the fact that everyone compared it to Devil May Cry, rather then taking it in as a quite a different game, despite being a dual gun-toting, undead/demonic hero.

the game was a cross between max-payne, DMC, and P.N. 03 (?) and mixed with the art and story style from the Trigun series.

the anime sounds interesting, but I think they covered whatever story they had pretty well in the game.

IGN gave Gungrave an 8. They don't give 8's to unspectacular games, sir.

Yeah, it definitely fixes the mistakes. I played part of the import and its a vast improvement. The new characters are pretty cool and there's actually a storyline this time around. The screenshots don't indicate the quality of the graphics.

I've played a preview build of GunGrave OD a few months back. It's a big improvement over the original. Probably the coolest part is that there are three playable characters. One of them uses a guitar as a weapon, and it's pretty sweet. Should be well worth $20.

ChoroQ is a series of racing games that was really popular in Japan (there were a ton of games in the series), but it's not worth buying (even at the low price point.)

Yager is like a futuristic Crimson Skies from the screens I've seen. You fly around, shoot things, and I think it's supposed to be pretty good from hands-on impressions. I'm actually surprised this is coming out at a lower price.

Judging from movies and screens and the developer, Trigger Man looks like garbage...

From what I heard, Dai Senryaku VII (the import) is supposed to be a pretty good strategy game, but not great.

Anyway, overall, the only one of those games I'd really look into would be Yager (but I'd wait for a review first.)

ChoroQ games have been released here before, they're the "super deformed" car racing games that have been sold under the names Gadget Racers and Road Trip, they arnt really bad they;re just very kid frendly, dont go in expecting GranTourismo or RidgeRacer... it easily ranks below Mariokart.

The first episode of GunGrave dissapointed me it just felt like a cross between Cowboybebop and Trigun, The game was kick ass though(if you enjoy mindless violance and exploding things). I wont preorder the second but I will buy it when I see it if it's still 14 bucks.

Mastiff Games today announced what it is calling the "Can't Lose" deal for its upcoming title Gungrave: Overdose. The game will retail for the low price of $14.99 and will include about $20 worth of free goodies, Mastiff says.

The over-the-top action shooter is slated to ship this month, and anyone who purchases the game before March 2005 will receive a three-issue trial subscription to the monthly multiformat game magazine Play. In addition, a limited edition collectible card featuring artwork from the Gungrave anime, currently being released on DVD in the US by Geneon Entertainment, will be included inside the game's package.

I'm pretty sure it's still being developed by Red Entertainment, so there's nothing to worry about.

It is a great deal. The first game although it was short was very entertaining. The anime is also very good. I just picked up the first Vol a while ago when it came out.

This version is going to be longer and I think you can use different characters during the game.

I preorder my title last week!

From Gamespy:
Mastiff today announced a special "U Can't Lose" deal tied to the September 2004 launch of their PS2 title, Gungrave: Overdose.

Gungrave: Overdose will ship for a special low price of $14.99 and anyone who purchases a copy between September 2004 and March 2005 will receive a three-issue trial subscription to Play Magazine (worth $18.00). On top of all that, a limited addition Gungrave art card, featuring images from Geneon Entertainment's Gungrave: Beyond The Grave anime DVD will be packed into every box.

"Gungrave: Overdose is awesome, absolutely over the top" commented Bill Swartz, Head Woof at Mastiff. "We tried to come up with a promotion as good as the game and couldn't. But we've come pretty close. For fifteen dollars PlayStation2 owners get one of the best Anime-based action titles to hit the system, three issues of a great gaming magazine, a limited edition collector's art card from Geneon Entertainment, publishers of the Anime on DVD, and a preview of the Anime in the game. You can't lose."

Gungrave: Overdose features more of everything that made its predecessor great: more adrenaline, more over-the-top action, more cell-shaded coolness, more outrageous story, more pumped-up volume, and more non-stop gameplay. The game features the character design of noted anime artists Yasuhiro Nightow (Trigun) and Kosuke Fujishima (Sakura Wars) and a soundtrack composed by Tsuneo Imahori (Trigun, Hajime No Ippo).

Looks like an awesome deal, but I wonder if you preordered before september if you get all the extras.

I've played the first game and it's not bad. The reason they MIGHT be doing this is because they feel lowering the price isn't enough incentive to get people to buy. Keep in mind the original had to be dropped like near $10 to get people to buy it.

What is Play magazine?

It's a magazine....called "Play." :P

Play's a fairly recent console gaming magazine - first issue was Jan `02 - which dabbles in covering other geeky areas (i.e., anime, scifi, etc.). I got a freebie subscription about a year ago. I like the overall look and layout of Play for some reason; and they have some gorgeous promo artwork, which is a plus IMHO - I get tired of seeing the same half-dozen screenshots for any given game over and over again.

They sometimes feature offbeat, quirky, or just plain overlooked titles as their cover story previews: e.g., Primal, Voodoo Vince, Gunvalkyrie. I dunno if this is a conscious decision to highlight titles other magazines overlook or just the best they can get on any given month - given their "industry n00b" status, as it were :) - but I appreciate the spotlight occasionally being shone on something other than the next Final Half-Doom Solid Auto sequel.

That said, they also tend to be the sort of magazine which gushes about practically everything - I'm not sure they've ever met a game they didn't like (or at least couldn't find something to like about it). So I tend to ignore their actual words and try to read between the lines.

Incidentally, they used to have a much higher cheesecake factor, complete with 2-page pin-up spreads. But they've since toned it down and largely farmed out the cheese to their "Girls of Gaming" annual. Whether you consider this a good thing or bad depends largely on your tastes, I suppose...
