Don't forget about practice and survival. Plus, when you do have good connection whenever it is that you do, you can throwback and play this... also, you may have to kill your firstborn.

integralsmatic - Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves at 20 dollars is an absolute must. Last Blade 2 in 1 is solid, but I'm not CRAZY about the Last Blade games. They sure look nice, and they play good enough, but to me they just don't have the competitive edge that other games have. I don't know if you already have MvC2, but if not, you should be able to get an import version for pretty cheap.

I personally really like Neogeo B.C. and KoF XI as well, but you probably might as well wait for the US versions.

I played some T5 online last night and sent out friend invited to a couple of people. I just realized how much i need to brush up on my tekken 5 skills. The wireless on my ps3 is giving me alot of lag in this game. Not sure if it is the other people in the room or if it is the wireless gonna try playing it tonight withthe wired connection hopefully it shall be loads better

The Korean version of MvC2 would work fine on JP PS2s. Asian/Chinese/Korean PS2 games are interchangable with their Japanese counterparts. Plus the Asian releases usually have a partial english translation of the instructions.

after 2 years of not playing against humans in tekken, i need alot of brushing up time... people like Markman already have an advantage by having a regular group of people in person to play with... unfair >_<

I really want to work on my dragunov though... even though I get my ass handed to me 90% of the time when I play him. I hated playing this one kid last nigth that was just playing paul the entire time... he didn't even change into his P1 outfit... I expect to see alot of paul players though for people starting.

I wish there was another way to scroll through the command list in practice mode in T5DR other than pressing L3 and R3, since my stick doesn't have those buttons. Maybe I can re-bind them; I'll need to look into that later.

Tekken online rules. It's very smooth...and finally playing people at my level is great. my main complaints are with invites and all that. Sony's non-unified friend's list system is kind of a mess.

yeah, the lag was really at a minimum. the connection bars on screen the whole time is really a great idea.

there were some good moments there, but you pretty much wiped the floor with me. I'm not too precise with this arcade stick yet.

maybe it was just the game being weird. like those weird rooms that show up but then you join them and are full with people, then everyone mysteriously gets booted before a match can start. There are some weird matchmaking issues.

Good games yesterday. I will stand by the fact money matches make you play better. I said it all of yesterday but someone really should have recorded our matches.

d/b+4, d+4,N,4,4~[3]~F, d+4 (this is a guaranteed combo, basically when you hit 3~F to go into flamingo stance you can do moves with your left leg by hitting right kick... so in this instance you're doing d+4 to get his d+3 snake kick...

^^ This was the confusing stuff I was talking about lol...

it does great damage and can be pulled off from anything, you really dont need to kno any other combos lol (except for against the wall combo)

and d+2, d+3,3,N+3 is better than d/b+4, d+3,3,N+3,

when you pull off a d/b+4 you have much better options such as the 2nd combo MM posted

Fun game, but it's crazy to see how far the series (and SNK in general) has come since then. The single player, though the controls aren't as fluid as SNK's best, is enjoyable.

I like mine a lot. It gets the job done without glaring flaws (at least, to someone who hasn't used super high end sticks.) Definitely worth $50. If you have used the DoA stick on the 360, it's the same thing. It's Hori, so you can depend on it. Also, they patched it so it works with PS2 games.

Thats the stick I use (also my first stick).
I love it. Its perfect for me (I haven't used things that are teh spensive, so I don't really know how it stacks up). For $50, its perfect IMO.

Yea as a stick it's fine, there are way better sticks (but they also cost more money)... my main gripe with the stick(IMO the arcade stick is fine), is the buttons, the layout is abnormal lol... Usually the face buttons are slanted in the traditional way(see every other stick) lol.... but instead this is slanted in the opposite direction... I have 2 of these sticks and I think they're solid, but I'd rather pay a few more bucks for a quality stick... not a bad stick for starters though...

Goddang was the latency getting to me. It just feels horrible when Lee is moving in molasses.
But that wall jump was completely called for. I got King's back and I woulda wall juggled him had the knee actually came out instead of Lee standing there doing nothing. :bomb:

Is the lag usually that bad, or was it just that room? In any case, I gotta adjust my moves. If df+2 feels like it's 30 frames and if I can't hit uf+4, 4, b+1:1~f, 1,2,f~ 1,2,f~ 3,4 consistently, I've gotta dumb things down. :cry:

Picked up a "Chicago-style" hot dog at this new place in town that claims to have "Chicago-style" food. The Melty Blood Act Cadenza Netplay patch kinda has a GUI but it more of a command prompt GUI. To play people, you have to know there real IP address or you can use a program called Hamachi and make a room.

I was forwarded a rather interesting e-mail tip last week in regards to the development of a new Street Fighter game inside of Capcom of America. If the e-mail is accurate, Street Fighter fans may have a bit of a shock on their hands.

According to the e-mail (and I have to emphasize that this is an unsubstantiated rumor from someone claiming to be close to the development of the title), the next Street Fighter game is in its planning stages and is going to be released solely for the console market (PS3 and Xbox 360 according to the source). Furthermore, it will not be a fighting game, but rather an action game that focuses primarily on Chun Li. I've been told to think "Devil May Cry" meets the new Chun Li-centric Street Fighter movie.

I'm not surprised by this news. A couple of years ago I may have been, but after the interview in which Capcom has stated that they are looking to branch Street Fighter out into a platform specific property, it makes sense. I tried to contact Capcom of USA last week to get a response to the rumors, but after I was given no response by the company I have decided to go ahead and post the information.

I've been told that the Hyde Park Entertainment Street Fighter film has been put on the fast track for production, and the movie (which begins filming in 2008) should be ready for Fall/Winter release of next year. If this is the case, the new game's development may be striving for a simultaneous release. I'll try to have more information soon. The source for the e-mail expresses a bit of concern for the Street Fighter franchise.

Ever since Capcom of America gathered the rights to the series, people have wondered whether or not the game would be leaving its arcade roots. This may very well be the first sign that it is.

If that news is true about the new "Street Fighter", it's nothing but a mistake. How do Capcom and Arc Systems / Sammy not realize that these new action games are going to sell like shit and only enrage fans even more? All they'll do is make people angry. I can also guarantee, and I'm willing to bet anyone here any amount of money, that they'll both play like absolute GARBAGE.

Reading that rumor pisses me off, I can't imagine how I'm going to feel if this becomes official. Just give us fucking Street Fighter 4, it really isn't THAT difficult. Fuck, re-release 3s with 2 more characters, additional backgrounds, and an extra special move or two, and satisfy the people.

i think only one of them was decent, another had okay fundamentals. i had no fundamentals and was totally unfamiliar with GG, so i lost when i played at work =P


ssbm is another story though. i was the most technically competent player, but one of the worst fundamental players. it's fun to impress people with wavedashing, and then confuse them with why i just fell off the stage for no reason.



speaking of which, ssbm is awesome. it needs more love in this thread!

IMHO too many people like it (not that it's bad, just the popularity kills it for me). Heck, every campus I've been on (so far that's counting about 8) smash bros is all that is played.

There were some nerds at my school with a Rumble Fish JAMMA rig hooked up to the TV... they all had arcade sticks too. I can't believe at how high the level of nerdiness is at my school. I thought I was one of the best Tekken players there but I only placed 4th in the schoolwide tournament last year. Btw, I go to UMBC.

Man, Samus is crazy. I can't really stand her slow falling, but one of the guys at work played a really good Samus and he usually 2-stocks me if I play Falco. Her Nair has insane priority and I can't really edge-guard her that well. I do like her little glitch wavedash with the bombs though =P

My mains are Falco and Marth, with Peach sliding in at a distant third. Falco's just awesome with the annoying SH lasers and L-cancelled drill / shine combos. I started out playing mainly Marth so I have a good feel for the tipper hitbox, but I suck with Fair comboing. And I just like Peach because she's super annoying with the vegetables and the floating air moves... oh man.


The only real complaint I have with Smash is because it's such a crazy game, you find differing rules everywhere... I only like playing 1v1, no items, safe stages, but at work it was always FFA with a bunch of random crappy stages like Poke Floats turned on.

It gets enough respect as a game since it seems so easy to pick up and play (used to play a lot in college), but not enough as a fighting game within the 2D/3D community. But its' not like the smashers care, their community is bigger anyway =P

ReRo, I meant doesn't get enough respect in this thread. We never seem to talk about it. And yea Chac, I play Samus. I used to play Marth, then moved to Fox, then got bored with both and now I play pretty much only Samus.

And I hope that fighters make their come back when connection speeds get better. That would / will be super sweet.

Roaming around the SRK boards, it seems that people do like the game but say that RF2 is so much better than the first game.

Even so, I'm still thinking about picking up RF1 in the near future because I'm a fighting game junkie. The game can't be as bad as the SF EX series.

Also here's hoping that GS/EB gets a reasonable amount of copies of GGXXAC tomorrow. I have a handful of things I want to trade in for it.

i'm really competitive so playing FFAs kinda frustrates me because i feel like i'm never completely in control, and a lot of things i learn in FFA don't really apply to 1v1 and vice versa.

i was so stoked when i learned how to ledge hop! but then playing at work i never really got to do it so i was all sad. dash dancing / wavedash dancing to bait whiffs just isn't the same in an FFA game. =P

I see copies of Metal Slug Anthology for Wii all over the place, but the PS2 version is harder to find. It's possible that it sold better, too.

The Wii version could very well ship more copies than the PS2 one, since in most news bits the PS2 version seemed like an after-thought. Then again it might not, who knows?

Not sure about the fighting stick 3 but for the doa4 stick do a google for the xbcd drivers. It allows you to map everything perfectly.

I can't get the Fighting Stick EX2 to work with it either. It's EXTREMELY annoying because that's more or less the only reason that I bought it (that and the upcoming SSF2THD). I had no problem using the DOA4 stick with MAME on my desktop at home, but I sold all 4 of mine when they were going for crazy money. I really wanna fix this problem, because it would help alleviate the fighter withdraw I'm going through here at school.
