Why don't people like them? I've seen alot of bad veiws about having it be platinum hits, why?

The boxes are ugly as hell. That's about it, really.

me personally, I like having the original box art and disc instead of having the platinum hits. it's mainly just for collection purposes.

and on an off note, this REALLY should go in the microsoft forums.

It's only the box art. While I prefer the original box art, I don't mind if I get the Plantium Hits box.

Sorry, didn't think of any other forum :) Collection purposes? I thought this was Cheap Ass Gamer.com not Sentimentalcollection.com :p once I finish a game, hell; once I even burn a game, on craigslist or ebay it goes :)

Just wondering: how much more would you pay for a non-platinum hits game?

Your naive opinions notwithstanding, if a game offers the choice b/w "platinum hits" and "non-PH," then the base price, new, is $30. I'd gladly pay $3-5 more for a non-PH version. Any more than that, and I'm not interested.

I can live with the banners on Player's Choice or Greatest Hits games. Microsoft just goes way over the top in their box design of PH games.

I got lucky when I bought syphon filter dark mirror for the psp. on the box it said "greatest hits" then I took the wrapping off and realized it was just a sticker, and I had indeed gotten a non-gh version of syphon filter dark mirror for only $14.

Never bought a 360 PH yet, the disk any different, or just the case?

Yeah, the 360 cases are rather bad in terms of PH. The cases themselves look like they're pre-order display cases, rather than actual game boxes. Reminds me of Konami's newest case for Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow.

I'd have no problem if they just switched the black with silver for the background of the XBox strip on the insert to note it's a PH. But when the side and most of the front of the insert are silver, I have a problem with it.

There is a thin band just below the white Xbox logo at the top of the disc that says (in Lego SW2's case) "Family Hits." It's not too terrible, but it is there.

I guess Im what you could call a 'collector'. But Im not a millionaire, so I need to be a cheapassgamer.

When the games you own start numbering in the hundreds, you need to get'em cheap!

I personally wont pay more for a reg version over 'greatest hits' type packaging. I just try to find the original version for the same, or even cheaper price.

Retailers dont have price differences between orig, and GH versions of games. When God of War went GH, even the orig version got priced at $20. So with prices being equal, why would I buy the game with uglier packaging?

I don't have a problem with GH/Platnium Hits/Player's Choice box designs, except for the PH on the 360. Those are just hideous.
