View Full Version : How do you prepay for Gamefly (to get a discount?)

I'm signing back up, but I can't figure out how to prepay to get a discount. Don't they have that anymore? My only options seem to be just the regular plans (which is okay if that's all I can do, but...)

I got an e-mail from them when they upped the monthly price a few months ago that the ability to pre-pay was only for a limited time. I believe that they only offer a monthly billing now.

Darn, thanks!
Did they increase the prices? They seem the same as I remember...or did they increase them $1?

they increased them by $1 to offset shipping costs.
they also got rid of the cardboard inserts which IMO was a bad idea.

Will get you $10 off a month. Most CAGs here use it. I can't find the orginal thread that was in the gaming deal forum though. You watch ads, get paid, and it pays for your gamefly, and a couple of other things.

Any idea what happens if you sometimes cancel (and later restart) your Gamefly account like I do? Like will the Brightspot credit keep piling up, and go towards your account when you reactivate it?
Well, I guess I can understand the price increase-everything's gotten more expensive, from stamps to the surcharges UPS charges, etc. I still like the service.
My big "problem" comes that thanks to CAG, I keep getting all these cheap games I can actually afford, and then Gamefly becomes redundant for a while. :) (Just picked up FIVE games tonight for a total of <$50!)
EDIT: I'm sorry to hear they got rid of the cardboard inserts. I figured that really helped keep the games pristine (as they always were for me). The stuff I got from Gameznflix (prior to switching to Gamefly) was often a mess (and then...oh wow, I had to involve the BBB and my credit card company to CANCEL Gameznflix-they wouldn't let me cancel!...but that's a whole other story.)
Randomly babling now, but on top of Gamefly, and all the great deals out there, there's also Gametap, which is dirt cheap and just keeps getting better and better...I *love* all these options!

Thanks, but unfortunately they don't seem to give you a discount if you prepay. Would be cool though! Oh well.

Earlier in the summer GF offered a 20% discount if you prepayed. That is over with now.

Doh! I miss that every time, I guess. Oh well, the backlog beckons anyway...

What cardboard inserts? My games are mailed in a paper sleeve inside a cardboard sleeve.

They brought them back a while ago. Perhaps they found out that it was actually worth it to keep the inserts?

Didn't realize this thread was over a year old.
